Just over 7 years between your comments on this Rayne... hehe  grin

Thank you both for your comments, now that it has been pointed out to me it is very obvious! I'll get to work restructuring the sentencing and such, along with trying to add in some links to newer developments after the weekend.

This is something I was developing back in 2003 that I've came across since my recent return here. I'm aware as it is 7 years old that its content may be out of date, but I was wondering if after some editing it might be of use?

Looking back in history look what I found. :)  I was just wondering if this has been used in anyway. Or with some updating might be of some use?

History:
Soul magic began long ago, with only one man known as the Father of Soul. He was born with very powerful Cár'áll. Legend says he learned how to control his Cár'áll before he could talk. His life was spent mastering the skills of his abnormally strong Cár'áll, and absorbing knowledge on different kinds of magic. There was too much for one man to learn, in one life time therefor he tracked down a wife. He had a son at the age of 34, who also had strong Cár'áll like his father. The boy was known as the Son of Soul. His father passed down all his knowledge, as he left his teens, and entered manhood he had the knowledge of his father. He began studying his own material and learning even more powerful ways to manipulate his Cár'áll to do his bidding. Once the Son of Soul had mastered and named his new art of magic "Soul Magic" he set out in a search to find other like him. At the age of 67 he had found 4 people that had strong Cár'áll, although not as strong as him and his father, they were stronger than average. They founded a magic society called "The Soul". As many years passed, the society grew, and many temples were built where the art of soul magic was taught to those with strong Cár'áll.  Everything was going perfect, until war broke out. In the year of 804 b.s. a large tribe of Orcs who disliked the Soul Mages, started a war with "The Soul" in Southern Sarvonian. This was where all the temples had been built, so all the Soul Mages gathered to this one area to protect there home. There were many battles, often at the temples themselves. Sometimes "The Soul" won others they didn't. By this time the Son of Soul was a very elderly man, almost at the end of his life. Before he died in his bed, his last command was that there be a great battle in the Aurora Fields. A message was sent to the leader of the Orc tribe, to challenge them to a final battle, that would end the war. The Orc's accepted and the two groups met in one large battle, which ended up as a massacre of Soul Mages. The Orcs had been too many in number. There were ten Orcs to one Soul Mage, they didn't stand a chance. The most powerful Soul Mages, that were leading that battle, knowing that they had lost the battle ran into the near by town of Salsair. They were tracked by the Orc's, and another battle broke out. The Soul Mages lost the battle, but not before destroying half the town, and the people who lived there. After the battle the Orcs set out and destroyed all the temples and remaining Soul Mages they could find.

Luckily a hand full survived, and one hidden temple, the first that was created. This temple is said to have a recharging affect on the soul mages. After many years of Soul Magic the Soul Mage becomes weakened, normally around the age of 70, if they live that long, and in order to continue using the art, they must recharge at the temple. The strong Cár'áll was later found out to be passed down from generation to generation, and the descendant of The Father of Soul still exist today. "The Soul" also still exist, they are slowly regaining their numbers back. They are loyal to there leader, the descendant of the Father of Soul, whose identity is unknown. They now are a peaceful society, and keep there distance from trouble.

The parts in italic are the ones which I have elaborated on.

I don't like what I have so far :  so I am going for a rewrite. Here it is...

Soul Magic
There are toughs in this world that are born with different attributes. Some can run faster than other, some grow larger than others, and some have stronger Cár'áll than others.

There is a group of mages that call themselves Soul Mages. They consist of toughs with stronger than average Cár'áll. This gives them more energy than that of a normal mage, at least Cár'áll wise. The extra energy allows Soul Mages to cast very powerful spells using their own Cár'áll and energy. This is very demanding upon their bodies, often leaving them with little stamina and a low level of physical fitness. It is also known to shorten the life span of the users. Strong spells, actually damage the mages for a short period of time. Soul magic is similar to elvern magic, in the way it uses the mages Cár'áll to change the nature of things. Humans normally use other objects Cár'áll do cast a spell, but this is not the case with Soul Magic because of the abnormally strong Cár'áll the mage has, he is able to cast powerful spells using his own Cár'áll. There are a few different ways in which these mages use there gift.

Physical
Physical Soul Magic is all about manipulation. A mage skilled in this technique can not only change the form of living mater, but control its movement to an extent.

Mental
Mental Soul Magic is used to enter the minds of people and animals. Once inside someone's mind, the mage can do many things. Like cause pain in any area of the body, read the persons thoughts or even change the thoughts. Mental Soul Magic can also be used to speak with beasts, this often helps in the training of them. Many animal trainers have a small amount of this ability even though they do not know it.

Imitation
Imitation is exactly what it sounds like. Magic is copied from different kinds of mages, and different magic arts. The spells often turn out stronger than the originals, but this is the most stressful of Soul Magic, and normally leaves the user very tired after casting spells.

Sorren
Sorren soul magic is about using Cár'áll to change the surroundings. Sorren Soul Mages control the earth below there feet, or the clouds above there head. The do not have the power to create the elements, but if they are there the mages may control them. For example, someone lights a fire the mage can use both the air, along side with the fire to create a fireball and propel it through the air towards there target. In the other sections, the spells almost never fail but that is not the case with this section. These spells because they are harder to cast fail more often than the others.

Soul
This is a general magic, depending on how strong the mages Cár'áll is and how much studying they have done over the years, these mages can use all of the above, but not with the same amount of power often only knowing the weaker spells.

Ok, I think it should go under Raw Magic, as it is to do with changing the form of the aura...

Oh right, now I get you. Well we could add onto the Cár'áll section that there are some born with stronger Cár'áll than others, the strongest of those are candidates for soul mages. Of coarse this would have to be written with more detail. The for the rest of it, what about a new section? I would also need to add more detail onto the history of soul magic, and include the steps that are taken to become soul mages etc.

Not quite sure what you mean Tarquet? Where do we put soul magic in the Aura?

Yes it is along the lines of what they do, apart from soul mages use there Cár'áll in more of a manipulative way to control and change other objects Cár'áll.

:lol

About Cár'áll. What I meant was that the soul mages have very strong Cár'áll, meaning they have very strong energies. Soul magic is similar to elven magic, in the way it uses the mages Cár'áll to change the nature of things. Humans normally use other objects Cár'áll do cast a spell, but this is not the case with soul magic because of the abnormally strong Cár'áll the mage has, he is able to cast powerful spells using his own Cár'áll. The sections mentioned above although similar to that of the weavers are cast in different ways and have different affects on both the object the spell is being cast on and the mage that is casting them. Also I didn't know about the weavers imitation category, it was just coincidence. Thanks for you time :)

I think that it needs a few more sections, if you agree I have some in mind.

Sorren
Sorren soul magic is about using Cár'áll to change the surroundings. Sorren soul mages can control the earth below there feet, or the clouds above there head. The do not have the power to create the elements, but if they are there the mages may control them. For example, someone lights a fire the mage can use both the air, along side with the fire to create a fireball and propel it through the air towards there target. In the sections so far, the spells almost never fail but that is not the case with this section. These spells because they are harder to cast fail more than the others.

Soul
This is a general magic, depending on how strong the mages Cár'áll is and how much studying they have done over the years, these mages can use all of the above, but not with the same amount of power.
