Or look at a snake or an elephants trunk i.e. They can wrap around something. And i'm sure there are more animals here on earth that can do something similar :)
Really like the idea, although i wonder why that crazy old man didn't cut the tail of his pet :)

People could conceive it as magic maybe and make some myths about it :) But it could have perfectly natural reasons :)

But i think this discussion is taking a new direction here :)

It moves around on the currents simply because it's not firmly attached to the sea floor. Maybe there are large hollow spaces under the island giving it buoyency :)

lol, something like that
20  Santharian World Development / Places and Map Design / Re: Islands Ahoy! on: 15 December 2006, 21:03:47
Probably yes, but it would allow for more of a "world within a world", where ties to other parts of the map aren't as important anymore

If i look at the entries in the bestiary there is absolutely no indication that a classification is really made. Only in the Compendium is there some classification, but not deep enough to call it taxonomy.

Maybe there could be made an entry on a famous scholar who tries to start something like that? :)

and don't make something the most common beast of all :P

Maybe there could be a few islands (not necessarily the ones mentioned) that aren't always in the same location? i.e. drifting around and only are there (the location on the map) for a certain period each year? That might give the developer a bit more leeway since it most probably doesn't have an influence on the mainland history. Perhaps it's even only known by a few coastal villages.

Artimidor: There is a bunch of stuff related to this place: myth / legends (i.e. the strange cult). Should these be done here? Or in a different entry in a different area?

Almost bumps into someone
oh, excuse me
Looks up and sees bard Judith
Nice seeing you here dear judith. I've read your paper on cheeses and i was wondering if you would like to take a look at my paper on the Rimmilch cow, famous for the cheese made from its milk, to see if we could sit down for a drink and discuss the possibilities of these two papers
Smiles and waits

29  Santharian World Development / Races, Tribes and Clans / Re: The Rivermaids on: 15 December 2006, 15:36:36
Talia, i think the story about rivermaids seducing men is viable. It's a story that is believed. That doesn't mean it has to be true :) You said yourself that humans hated the, just for that reason, so there must be stories like that :)
