1  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: Tutorials Request - What do you want to learn about? on: 22 January 2011, 03:48:19
I'm sorry for the delay. I didn't forget, but I need to finish some other things first.  I hope to get around to it on Sunday.

The Photoshop tutorials are noted!   I know by far the most about Corel Painter, but I'm relearning photoshop and it has some pros over painter (and vice versa)

What program do you use? That way I may also be specific for brush suggestions apart from general crits. I'll try to get something on here on monday :)

I've found several tutes but I know there's one on transparent water in a book I own either digitally or physically...it had a wonderful explanation of light and how it reacts to water surfaces, including reflection, absorption and transparency.  I'm keeping at it, because the book I had believed it was in showed no tute sadly so give me a few more days, I really hope it will turn up.  If that all fails I'll end up making one myself tying in the Colour and Light one somewhere.

Do you still want some general advice on the Waterleaf? Considering it was declared finished already (not that I mind)

I'm also looking into the clouds ;)   Do you have a WIP with them?

The Toora Doora tree has my vote :)  Because I really like the concept of it and because I can totally picture it in my mind and chuckle.

Hope your writer's block will not last very long! And I feel you on wanting 2011 to be a more productive year so I hope you get into better spirits soon! :)

Hello fellow artisans!

I'll be creating some guides on color & light and composition.  I was just thinking however, what is it that you guys want to know about?

Either about subjects I just listed, or new ones.  It can be anything from program related to formal techniques to an effect.  I can't say I'm the one that will answer all, but I'll do my best and hey, maybe someone else on the board just might know that thing you've been wondering about to increase your knowledge or workflow.

There aren't that many tutorials listed on the site, and the problem with many you can find on the net is that they are short and really not all that informative. They touch on a subject but they often do now tell you about the underlying knowledge that precedes that abiliity.

I saw the Seekerets and Ta'lia's  Tute link WIP, but are there more?

As some of you guys know I went on a Really Long Trip last spring, returned a few months ago and since then things have been...slightly complicated.

Alas, I'm back again, with a whole bunch of New Year's resolutions, and Santharia is of course, on the list!

I know I will probably never be able to submit more than 4 pieces a year, but alas, let's just strive to make them my best ^_^ Hopefully I'll be actually able to work at paintings for most of this year!

I wish everyone a really splendid Santh year.  I hope to learn many things and enjoy a lot of the beauty co-creation has to offer!

[edit: I saw I was nominated!! I'm so happy! (and suprised)  *flails*

[edit II  I will be giving some workshops in the future on Colour, Light and Composition, I'm still preparing them but I could translate them into English and post them on Santh if people would be interested)

I have walked to the End of the World.   Fisterra/Finisterre, the final place on the Way of Saint James, where once upon a time also the Celts would complete their pilgrimage by taking the boat back to Bretagne and complete a full circle.

3000km. 4.5 months.  My physical journey is over but the spiritual one continues!  I feel very blessed and pleased that I was able to grant myself the time and determination to fulfill this journey.

I'll be taking some time to move back to my old place and whatnot, but I look forward to serving Santharia again in the future.   ;)

Im 2500 km from the door to my house, and about 3 days away from Burgos, Spain.

just another 550 km or so to go to Fisterra!

The end...its near!

I realized Ireally  love Santharia.   *nods*

Hey Guys :D

Well I've been on the road for quite some time now, and tomorrow I will leave the great Morvan Forest region in the center of France and continue on to Le Puy-en-Velay.

I haven't been able to gather the time and energie to write a blog, sadly, but I have gathered a few ideas here and there for Santharia.

Better keep my chin up, I'm not even half way!

Hope you guys are well!

Mostly spirituality and religion, but also art & the future heh. I'm a little bit unsatisfied with my life but I don't really know what I want with it either.

further more: seeing what my limits are and either crossing and moving, or respecting them :)

Well I've set my first few baby steps on the road to a distant place in Spain.  I'll post the link to my probably uneventful blog once I write an entry ;) Just in case someone is interested :D   (I'm still in my own country, licking the wounds caused by a shoemaker who doesn't know much about his job apparently XD but I'll live!)

I know I've only just returned, so I'm not so happy to be going again, but alas, a pilgrimage awaits! At the beginning of May I will be traveling from Utrecht (Netherlands) to Santiago de Compostela (Spain) on foot and it will take me..a long time.

Depending on money, health and cultural delights will be an estimated 3.5 to 4.5 months :)

So until I get back, happy dreaming, and wish me luck!  :D I won't frequent the boards much anymore before I go since I have still have a lot of preparations due, but I'll give a final wave before I'm off ^_^
12  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: Diorye'oleal Priest on: 18 April 2010, 21:46:29
Thanks all :D  I'm very glad to have been able to contribute before I go (again)

@Seeker haha! what a lovely comment! But I ensure you it is anything but effortless...my foundations in art are not so good. I spend a lot of time correcting and I hope to build up my base skills from the ground up again on my trip so that I can work more efficiently and make stronger work. I will only bring a sketchbook and a pencil (about 3-5 months of backpacking) so that will be a challenge!

I very much enjoy Santharia. It is a special place to me and I love the spirit of co-creation that roams around these halls (and well, all you lovely people themselves :D) And thus, through the fire and the flame (and a lot of embarrassment) I did find my way back here every time. I'm 100% sure I will do so again ;)

@Talia  But...he doesn't sparkle in the sunlight!

@Art Thank you :) such comments always make it worth the time and effort ^^
13  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: Diorye'oleal Priest on: 17 April 2010, 01:26:10
Thank you Talia :)

When I get back I'll be sure to return here. I'm good at randomly popping up out of nowhere  rolleyes

I consider it finished, due to that my alloted time for it has passed. However, minor edits are still manageable.

I tried to capture the essence of the Diorye'oleal (Priest)  and in some respects I did better than others, but I consider it a very good learning experience.
I wanted to make him beautiful but not too much. Elegant but not frail with a somewhat undaunted (well they live in the Hovel Frond) but composed feel to it.

Hope you guys like it ^_^
14  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: Diorye'oleal Priest on: 16 April 2010, 18:30:07
Glad to hear it! :D

I'll do my best to finish it today, yush. *rolls up sleeves*

As for rendering, do you mean the program? Or specific techniques or media or brushes etc. As program I use Painter XI for the bulk of my work, though that may change after I get back.  Feel free to ask specific things. If I can help I will.

Do we have an art-technique thread of sorts?
15  Santharian World Development / Santharian Artists Workshop and Resources / Re: Diorye'oleal Priest on: 16 April 2010, 06:51:18
Almost...I'm making progress  rolleyes  (it's probably ridiculously simple but it doesn't seem to work for me..rather I'm still doing it wrong)

As for the embroidery, it's dark because I haven't rendered it yet heh. This is just the silhouette. I need an ok before I do that because it will cost me quite some time make it shineh!

@M'ruk  Thank you :) I'm repainting his main features so they're still a bit wonky, indeed ;)
