Basic Overview of the Plant
Unlike the normal Brown Desert Rose, which is commonly seen in the Rahaz-Dath Desert, this jetblack flower is rather rare. It is the general belief of the local population that those who find such a flower will have bad luck the rest of their lives and they have cursed the flower many a time when it was indeed found.

Description

Frigord's discription of the flower is still used to identify it In his journal he has written:

"When I first saw the flower I couldnít believe my eyes. There was a flower, lonely but proudly standing, amidst nothing but sand and more sand. I thought there had to be some kind of magic fooling with me, black flowers were rare, but in the middle of the desertÖ I came closer and I could think of nothing else but picking the flower and treasure it. It is exactly what I did, I took the flower and brought it to my home. Its leaves were like those of a Lotus, large and broad, but it had the thorns of a rose, and the scent was sweet and somehow comforting. Thatís why Iíve called it the black desert rose, it was the best name I could think of."

Territory
Commonly seen in the Rahaz-Dath Desert

Usages
People who come in to contact with the rose are unable to talk about there experiance of it.

Myth/Lore/Origins
The first encounter with this flower was written down by Frigord, an adventurer from the city of Thalambath. When he tried to tell what kind of strange flower he had found in the desert region he was hit with dumbness and could not tell a word of his encounter. Everytime he tried to speak about it the same thing happened and he was feared by all the citizens of the surrounding area and in the end exiled to the desert. Living as a hermit he wrote down his journals which were later found in one of the rocky caves in the desert.

In the ages after the coming of the Dark One the rose was as well seen as a sign of his dark minions and their cursed powers and those who carried one were immediately executed, the flowers burned to ashes. But because the people identified the Stratanians with their desert, the rose became part of their Coat of Arms.

Hey I would like to help out a little in between studying, college, exams and work. Something to keep me from getting to bored in the evenings. I can't draw but I believe I can write fairly well. So anything I can help with please give me a shout and I will get on to it. Im also in the middle of writing a story based on one of my other characters father who was a wanderer and making it from her point of view re writing her fathers journals. I was wondering it that is alright as well. Ive done the prologue almost.
