1  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: ... on: 12 August 2005, 16:39:00
Mabey it could be a rare gift given by the gods to few. Or something that is inheirated. I don't know, just throwing ideas out there.

2  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Cursed Wind, Wind school, Level VI on: 10 March 2006, 22:29:00
The force could come from the Darkwinds, the ones that move the starts around. Up there it would be very, very cold and strong winds. I know it seems sort of disconected from the planet, but here it isn't out of the realm of real. More information about them can be found under the cosmology and myth menu.

3  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Druidic Magic: Brainstorming on: 05 October 2005, 19:03:00
What if they have a deep reverence for the spirits. That they worship them as thier "gods" for lack of better words. They would ask permision from them to do things for them. In return they do their best to protect them and preserve the natural way. They would succlude themselves from society, and live with very little things.

Just a thought. Just throwing it out there.

Anyways (ignoring that last comment) what did you decide? I would very much like to know.

5  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Sentient Beasts- Needs Attention (esp the 2nd question) on: 17 April 2006, 18:43:00
My personal point of view would be that sentient beasts do not interact with each other to the point of having a society or any form of culture. While Races interact often.

6  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Two entries Im want to try- what do you think? on: 09 April 2006, 13:39:00
Yes, both ideas look fine to me. Just keep in mind about how they have adapted or how they fit the desert. What things allow them to not need as much water. And how do they get it. But from here it looks fine. In Nybelmar you could include them in the Zunith Desert.

I'm sure that these animals would thrive in large cities. Where there are many places to make nests, almost no pretadors, and scraps of food all around.

8  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Mirjah, small ground birds. on: 10 March 2006, 18:22:00
Like the bird and idea.
I know this is a work in progress. This is just some food for thought.

Why do they live only in man made structures?
Will it die without one?
Are they friendly?
Do people welcome them into their homes?
What color are their beaks and feet?

One way you could keep the rumours/storytelling-driven feel is by making Bertrand D'Alba more weird and crazy. But he recorded tons of information on them. But most people discard even the thought that such creatures exist, espically after he claimed they could also teleport, fly and make gold out of sand. Upon return he was charged with use of Vaninen :lol  . But latter on some sane person proved that they actually do exist, but sadly they cannot make gold out of sand or fly or teleport. That way you get lots of information but you cannot count on it. Keeping the rumours/storytelling-driven feel.

10  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: The Eye Crabs on: 12 March 2006, 17:26:00
Overall like the entry, espically the sand castle part. Anyway here are some comments about the entry.

Quote:
There are two versions of such Eye Crabs: a nocturnal one and a diurnal one.

Quote:
There are two versions of Eye Crabs. The nocturnal Eye Crab, lives in the Kaerath deserts (and, supposedly, their eyes shine in darkness). The diurnal Eye Crab lives in the area west of the Nermarein mountains

Appears a little similar to me. I would sugest taking this part out of the Intoduction.

You could add some detail about their legs and pincers. Descibe their color and size. How hard is the skin or plating on the legs and pincers? Also how exactly are the legs and pincers attached to the eye? What colors or color is the puiples?

Quote:
Bertrand D'Alba's "Extraordinary Journeys of Bertrand D'Alba" claims that these Eye Crabs live in the Kaerath deserts and beyond the Nermarein mountains on the far west Nybelmar.

This sentence under the territory sections dosn't make much sense. Just the part with the quotes dosn't make sense. Is it an excpert from a story?

Mouth would work a little better than mouth peice, it just sounds a little long and uneeded. But that is up to you.

Throught the entry you make it sound as if the existence of the eye crab is disputed. But there should be no controversy over that, being they were shown to mages in Anis-Anpagan. It would work better to emphisize on the dispute between the different therioes about how they survive.

Are these creatures agressive? Do they have any pretadors? The eye crabs could build the sandcastles to battle their pretadors from :p   .

Adding a small summary about Bertrand D'Alba in the Introduction would make the story easier to read. Then we know who you are refering to in the rest of the story. In the Researchers section you might want to explin why he was there. Was he looking for these animals or did he just happen to come across them?

When they die do they simply melt? Go into a little more detail there, have some fun with it, it would be quite a spectical to see one die/melt right before your eyes.

One last thing here. What keeps them from overpopulating? This is a rather philosophical question and for this world it really dosn't need to be addressed. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

That's all I've got for you for now. Like the whole idea. And have fun answering all of my questions. Anyway hope this helps.

Sorry, I ment to say the Dragons Back. But when I said that I was confused with the mountians that you are refering, north of the plain. The mountians, by the way should be named.

12  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Whoop on: 06 October 2005, 16:08:00
Well they might work well in the Dragons Teeth, on the edge of the forest. But you would defintaly have to clear that with Coren.

reproduction, for his kind will always exist in the world of Caelereth. Also, only one Maerquis has ever existed and mating is impossible.

If there is only one of them there is no "kind" as mentioned in the first sentence.
Also could you please add something to the begining about this creature being of the night, yet is good. (It would make the whole thing alot less confusing to read)

14  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Maerquis on: 08 August 2005, 17:12:00
First of good start. But it is really confusing. It says nothing about it being a 'dark' horse but being good. (It gets really confusing, I had to go and read the gods entry for it to make sense.) Try to expand were ever you can, add details. How big is it? Also you should add a section about stories and lore. But it is a good start.

Is this a Santharian version of a buffalo?
