Actually I am around :D

I've been checking the boards pretty much every day for a quite a while now (even if I'm not logged in all the time). So as soon as I see something that I can comment on I will ;)

I'm not sure about me coming up with stuff yet, I still have ideas and I didn't forget what I was supposed to do a long time ago (uhm, like the apparitions overview *blushes*), I just need time... :(
32  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Mad Dancing Faeries (Reformatting) on: 10 April 2008, 03:18:24
See, if you deleted everything (don't use the passive voice there) now we don't know who said what. As I remember, the entry was supposed to be taken off the list as it would just need to have N/A for those sections, so there was nothing wrong with it.

Is it that hard to admit that you forgot about it?

And I still expect a formal apology from your part. Just to keep things civil.

PS: this also means that "Unknown" or more like "Not applicable" is that which I would agree on, and Arti can just simply edit it and add these four or so words. And there we go, everything fits in the grand bureaucratic scheme.
33  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Mad Dancing Faeries (Reformatting) on: 09 April 2008, 11:34:21
It was a manner of saying hinting at the fact that "someone" should have payed attention and not forget to take this one off the list - that someone would be you I guess.

I went back to look for that particular discussion where this comes up and guess what? You deleted them.

I do have Deci's pm letting me know about it - that was on August 28, 2007.

And yes, I can expect to randomly "pop in" after a year of inactivity and demand not a change but the opposite, because you know, there is this thing called "authorship" that allows me to do it. I do have a history of collaborations on this site so it's not like I refuse any input of any ideas, but that doesn't mean that my writings can be forced into something I don't like just because they're there and I happen to be away for a while.

If my tone sounds harsh, that's how it should be, because I am offended by your response, and right now I am very unhappy with this whole situation.

I can't say much as you don't actually give us any hints about what you would like to do :) Anyway, why don't you go ahead and draft something? We'll see what happens from there. (you can use the Nybelmar forum if you just want to lay down a few ideas and not actually start writing a full entry)

PS: a tribe entry would also commit you to develop the other respective entries (places, culture, people etc.)
35  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Bestiary / Re: Mad Dancing Faeries (Reformatting) on: 08 April 2008, 13:12:25
I'm ok with the Marsh Oak legend, but I have to say that I don't like the reproduction and diet sections. Really, can't we just leave those out? It's not like they're "beasts" you know...

These faeries would then be the lost souls of the ancient inhabitants of the Venlaken region. This interpretation does not have too many supporters though.

In the popular beliefs the Mad Faeries are often regarded as having a godlike status - though not in an explicit way - since only the mentioning of their supposed individual names is thought to have special magical properties

But just like in the Void Sails' case, these magical forces seem to be beyond the Ansaran mages' comprehension, as not only that they could not reproduce them but also they never managed to realize what their true nature might be.

This makes all the info in the reproduction section redundant - when it's not actually interfering with the intended entry.

While the diet section has nothing like that, it makes them be too close to the Dream Tempters concept, so I would prefer to just have "lack of information" about diet, without popular theories about what they just had at breakfast ;)

Nothing personal Ganinon :) but you know... it's not like I died or something.

Besides, who put the Mad Faeries on the revision list anyway?

Bah, I knew it was a double letter somewhere in that word...  :P

A 250 pages master's thesis? Wow, I really forgot how things are done in Europe :D The commercial aspect of a US PhD allows you to go no more than 250 (humanities, of course) as no publisher will ever consider you for your debut if you have more than that :) This also brings down a master's thesis to under 100.

I'm not a trained poet by any means, so I can't provide you with a "trained" critique, however I have to say that I really like this piece.

"I wear a cloak of its voice" excellent metaphor I'd say :)

There are a couple of mispellings maybe, like "caressing away the imposing quiet" (quiteness? Although I can see how you might have picked that form on purpose) or "for a reserected past" (that's definitely an oversight - ressurected).

Again, I like the feel of it, I think you managed to convey really well the painful memories dilemma (so painful that you want to forget, so part of you that you cannot, and do not want to forget)... "feel you with me in the corner of my sight" - another really good image :)

No, you didn't insult me, I just wanted to provide you with a list of entries that you should read if you would like to develop anything in that region. So we'll wait for your concrete proposals in the Nybelmar forum.

PS: and it's Anpagan not Angapan :)
40  Santharian World Development / Places and Map Design / Re: Angapan Map on: 25 January 2008, 07:39:57
Hello Galasteno.

The things done so far about Anpagan would be mine. Here is the list of entries connected to that region:

Anpagan people: http://www.santharia.com/tribes/humans/anpagans.htm

Daedhirians: http://www.santharia.com/tribes/humans/daedhirian_undead.htm

Venlaken Enclave: http://www.santharia.com/places/venlaken_enclave.htm

Anpagan beliefs: http://www.santharia.com/religions/religion_anpagan_atheism.htm

Venlaken beliefs: http://www.santharia.com/religions/askanis_dusklord.htm

The founding book for the lords of Venlaken: http://www.santharia.com/books/daedhir_book.htm

Asdamon (one of the Venlaken lords): http://www.santharia.com/people/asdamon_daedhirian_lord.htm

Asbavaer (another Venlaken lord): http://www.santharia.com/people/asbavaer_daedhirian_lord.htm

Armand Da'Ran (the Anpagan mage that tamed the seawyrms): http://www.santharia.com/people/armand_da_ran.htm

Apparitions found in the Venlaken area:
and to some extent

The history of Nybelmar (and of this place too) is still under discussion; you can find what we have so far here:
and here (the original sketches):

So it's not exactly underdeveloped I'd say, although there are tons of work left to do on this region.

Anyway, I am interested in your proposal of a seawyrm picture, the other artwork and the flash map. However, we can't really say anything else until we get to see your work :)

Generally speaking, if you have something in mind open up a thread in the Nybelmar forum and we will all discuss it from there.

Yep, agreed. Bestiary entry with hints at sentience works perfect. After all, it's the same thing with dragons, isn't it?
42  Organization and General Discussions / The Continent of Nybelmar / Re: West Nybelmar Realms: The Plains of Kaerath on: 18 December 2007, 13:37:53
It doesn't have to be a new "race." Nor a new "nation." I mean, what? Can't we have some (sentient) rock beings shape-shifting a mountain somewhere in far west Nybelmar?

The "Shifting Mountains" sounds nice, I like that.

Coren: So more along the lines of a bestiary entry rather than a race? That would be better I think. And we don't even need to "declare" them to be sentient.

Mira: *agrees*
43  Organization and General Discussions / The Continent of Nybelmar / Re: West Nybelmar Realms: The Plains of Kaerath on: 18 December 2007, 06:16:56
I really like those rock men too (though we need to be careful with the extent to which they can manipulate the mountain, I found that fascinating anyway :) )

The Nermarein Mountains sound like a good location for them indeed, and I don't think they would be excluded by the presence of Morcaanan's singing dragons. They will have to live together though...

Coren: Maybe the Nermarein Mountains could be known as the "Shifting Mountains" for that reason? These "clerics of the mountains" keep remoulding them?
44  Organization and General Discussions / The Continent of Nybelmar / Re: West Nybelmar Realms: The Western Bay on: 18 December 2007, 06:08:25
Ok, I will   :P

Here is the passage taken from the Void Sail entry with the myth of their possible origin.

Myth/Lore. Every single bit of knowledge about the Void Sails (or Inamis) might be considered mythical. Yet there is one very interesting interpretation (and perhaps the most coherent) that is worth mentioning here. It is based upon the Anpagans' belief that once, on their lands, a long lost and forgotten civilization had met its fate. Probably contemporary with the fabled dark wizard Menemronn or even older, this great civilization perished in an unimaginable cataclysm. Such the Anpagans explain the long abandoned ruins that they found when they first settled in the Venlaken area. And such, some of them explain these majestic creatures. The Void Sails are actually some of the last vestiges of this ancient civilization. They were their means of transportation, their "Pacifier" galleys. Embedded in the gelatinous body of a Void Sail they were sailing them as the Anpagans are now sailing their galleys on the vast seas. And the myth also claims that these ancient Void Sails were far more larger than the largest ever seen by now. Some say that after the great cataclysm the Void Sails disappeared in the great Ethereal Void, drawn to it by their very own magic. And so the ones that can be seen now are those that have lost their way and are searching it ever since. Perhaps someone will be able to tame them once, as Armand Da'Ran tamed the great sea serpents. Yet every scholar on the Ansaran Island warns about the possibility that a Daedhirian mage would accomplish that (considering the Void Sails spotted north of Venlaken). Should the twisted mages of the Enclave ever tame these creatures that would spell the doom of us all.

That's why I didn't like the idea of "Inami-mages," and I was trying to say that in a less blunt manner :) On the other hand, I liked the changelings idea, and I was just making suggestions to it. You don't have to change it according to those suggestions if you don't want to.

I'm not gonna respond to that.  :)
