I like it alot but i share some concerns that Judith does, theres one more thing that worrys me also and thats thatmost rats on earth live off of our leftovers but these eat fruits and berrys that means for this rat to be this size it would need to eat a subsantial amount to keep its body active because it would need a moderate diet..perhaps you could explain this slightly more?
•I have corrected the mistakes and such thank you • I would in myopinion rather keep the hearning where it is i really dont class it as a ability in that respect is a dogor cat can hear quite far also, but its not classed as a ability, if Arti or somone says it is..ill change it, but thanks for the info
Basic Overview of the Beast The Gargoyle has always been a symbol of both fear and protection, used for eons to guard temples, perched on rooftops and scowling at all who would dare draw near. Some say that when needed these creatures would shake free of the stone encasing their bodies to fly down and alight upon those who meant ill for those within it's master's house. Still others believed that these stone statues were not carved, but rather that the creature who came to rest on the rooftop is only sleeping in a stasis of stone for instance, striking a fierce pose to act as a warning to those who would try to remove them or enter the building they guard. Whether naturally born, or created by magic, the origins of these beautiful, frightening monsters is still a mystery, perhaps never to be solved. However there is unknown truth behind these mysterious creatures and if truth be told the commoners would not believe there own words.
Gargoyles are probably the most strangest and mysterious beasts in the world. When seen on churches, temples and rooftops many common folk think they were crafted for a ornament or protection and so on. But these creatures are not sculptures made from stone but creatures that are in stasis or hibernation, mostly during the day. They are very much nocturnal beasts that hide in there thick shell of stone until night fall and then shed there stone skin the a bird cracking from and egg to reveal there true self and launch themselves from there home in search of food and such. When dawn approaches these flying beasts perch themselves on there original ledge and some how, magically one gathers, coat themselves in there thick stone like skin and once again falls to sleep making the common folk believe they are only works of art created by a sculpture. Although impossible to imagine, it is true. However, even though these frightening looking beasts look deadly and horrific there are one of the most docile monsters in all of the world that are so loyal to there masters (The owner of the home or building) that it guards there establishment even in hibernation.
Appearance Although these creatures are very friendly and docile beasts, they look very horrific, frightening and even demonic, almost like a demon. There are many shapes, sizes and looks to the Gargoyle depending on the size of the establishment that they reside, but the least common of all is named the "Gerannom" and if anything is the most frightening of all because they are the biggest and most horrific looking.
Mainly this species of Gargoyle are very dark gray and makes its home on the large buildings such as temples and cathedrals Gerannom at full height stand an amazing 2 peds high ( 6 feet) almost the size of your average man. And there body when rid of there stone shells are quite muscular. There wingspan when fully extended are estimated to be 10 and a quarter peds with the same bone structure as bird wings only without the feathers and much, much larger. This particular species of Gargoyle have large horns (not shown when in here hibernation stone skin) that stand each at half a ped turning into a sharp spike at the end.
The shape of there heads is that of a man, however they have very thin, pale gray skin making there head look almost like a skeleton. They have no lips at all exposing a very sharp and full set of uneven teeth sometimes growing the length of about 3 Nailsbreadths at standard, sometime they grow longer, sometimes shorter and razor sharp however long they are. There eyes are almost like slits showing no pupil or eyes at all (But do have them) and sometimes they are seen glowing a dim red this usurly means they have seen something, prey or an enemy.
There ears are much the same as a elf only there are about a Nailsbreadth longer in size and it is said these beasts when awake can hear up to a 1000 peds (often dismissed as old wife's tails)...whether it true is another story. The length of there limbs again are much like a mans in size and looks. The only difference being the hands and feet which are considerably larger than the humanoid and only have 4 toes along with razor sharp claws that could quite literally cut through most if not every animal in the Santhrian kingdom. The weight of these beats vary and at the least weight a incredible 4 dippers in weight.
All in all these beasts are much the same looking as a Demon.
Special Abilities The only special ability this creature has other than to hunt expertly like a giant bird is to return to its ledge on its home building and turn itself back into stone to hibernate the day away until night fall returns where they shed the stone of like a bird cracking an egg and go back to there hunting...how they grow there skin is a total mystery as no one as ever seem them do it.
Territory These creatures as said 'live' on the edges on (depending on the species of the Gargoyle) Town buildings such as houses, temples, cathedrals and most stone built buildings, the smaller the building the smaller the species of Gargoyle living there. They mostly enjoy living in towns and cities to nest perch on high buildings, but at night when awake will fly from the city or town and hunt in the wilderness. They don't really care where they live, it should be a snowy city or a warm city, weather doesn't affect them due to there thick skin. But again as these creatures wake deep into the night, not many people have seen them and some don't even know they even exist.
Habitat/Behavior These creatures are one if not the most docile creature in the Santhrian lands despite it looking very horrific and frightening, there looks are only there to scare off any people wishing to hurt its home (in stone form). Gargoyles are very lonely creatures and if seen 'at all' are often alone and hunting at night in the wilderness hardly seen however to tell clearly what they do at night other than hunt for food.
Diet Gargoyles eat pretty much anything from small animals to large animals such as deer and horses it all depends really and what they catch or spot in the wilderness.
Mating To be perfectly honest no one really knows quite for sure how these beasts mate but there have been theories to the people that know they exist that they go out at night and mate like birds would do,and hatch from eggs such as the likes as Dragons do. However there is another theory that could also be true and that is a stone smith when sculpturing these beats puts his heart and soul into this magnificent works of art, and it is said once a artist puts his heart into making these stone beats they become alive....ether one could be true no one knows for sure.
Myth/Lore/Origin When originally made these creatures were placed on buildings such as temples, houses and churches to ward off evil and scare them away just by there looks and possibly even magic but over time these creatures were thought to be actually living, breathing creatures, some wish not to belive these horrific creatures are flying in the sky, some love there protection over there house. Its really hard to explain explain a creature that most of the population of the world thinknot to exist...but frankly...they do.
Note: I know its a bit sketchy in places but if you point them out ill fix them (If any), i triedgoing foramore mysterios type theme to explain this creature trying to push that there a very secritive type of creature.I will be adding in future many other types of Gargoyle so stay turned
Since im back now,ill get stuck in with a few ideas that were in my head.
Basic Overview of the Beast . The will o'wisp is a malevolent entity that makes its home in swamps, bogs, and moors. It subsists by luring unsuspecting creatures to their deaths amid the natural hazards of such places and feeding on the energies which their death struggles release. However, there are also very good Will'o'Wisps who will guide lost and/or lonely traverlers, or lost children onto the right path for home. These Mysterious creatures never communicate to the traveler only the person knows only to follow them. When the traveler finds himself on the right path, the Wisp vanishes leaving no trace of its existence...
When encountered in the wild, will o'wisps normally appear as faintly glowing balls of light. They can alter their own color, shape, and size to some extent and can be easily mistaken for lanterns, light spells, and similar sources of artificial illumination.
If they do not attack, will o'wisps are able to utterly blank out their glows, rendering them invisible to all those who cannot spot invisible objects.
The will o'wisp language is a most unusual one, being purely optical in nature. All communication between will o'wisps is by means of changes in color or brightness, many of which are far too subtle for the average observer to notice. Because this form of exchange is almost impossible to mimic, it is very difficult for travelers to communicate with these creatures. Exceptional examples of this race have mastered a very simple sound-based language. They produce sounds by vibrating very rapidly and thus have a shallow and ghostly-sounding voice when they "speak."
Appearance These creatures are about 12 Nailsbreadth's in diameter considering they are only balls of light, the creature itself (if there is one within the mass of glowing light) would be considerably smaller. The ball of light however can be any color the 'Fairy' wishes, it can fluctuate from bottle green, light green, purple, white, gold, amber, red, blue, sky blue, light blue.. in fact any color it really feels like. Travellers and researchers alike believe these creatures actually change there color to there feelings. For example if the glowing orb is a reddish color, then the 'fairy' is angry. If the color is in fact white or gold, then the 'fairy' is happy or amused and so on. But to be honest there has been no real explanation into why the creatures change color, or even how... These creatures are the most mysterious of the world and are rarely sighted. There weight in all honestly cannot be determined as the ball of light has never been touched or held. If however a fairy does reside in its bowls then the fairy would have to be at the most a single or double Ladle in weight.
Special Abilities Although Wisps possess no direct attacks, their command of magic allows them to pose a considerable threat to enemy forces. The most commonly used of these spells is dancing light. The dancing light illusion tries to confuse the watchers by basically spraying the area full of Jack'o'Lanterns of itself basically producing 'Clones' to confuse the attacker or watchers so that the real Will'o'Wisp can escape undetected. They can also rather strangely cast illusions of the watchers deepest desires such as a fresh lake of water, or a table laden with food, almost a mirage. These tricks however are very rare and have only been seen by travellers or the lost on certain occasions.
Territory Will'o'Wisps can be found, where swamps and dark moors are and can even be seen in some orchards and forests depending on the inhabitants of the area, they most keenly stay around settlements of Elves and nature loving humans, such as druids and so forth.
Habitat/Behavior (Habitat see above) For the most part, will o'wisps will be found on their own. On rare occasions (10% of the time) groups of up to three may be found near a particularly fertile hunting ground. In the latter case, they will work together to trick victims into the traps which they have arranged. They do however wander have strange dancing rituals and ceremonies hat to the watcher has no meaning, but when seen, a large green oval shaped disc sits in the center, and on VERY rare occasions, hundreds of the glowing balls of light can be seen floating and dancing in the air around this disc even up to 50 to 60 feet in the air, these rituals are rare and are unknown in history to what the Wispsmight be up to.
Diet Although difficult to say with certainty, evidence indicates that the will o'wisp feeds on the fury of electrical activity given off by the brains of panic stricken individuals as they realize that death is inescapable. In order to prolong the suffering of their victims and increase the amount of "food" which they give off, will o'wisps will typically lure their victims into areas like quicksand pits which promise a slow and frightening death. It seems certain that the unusual environment found in bogs and swamps is important to the creature's existence in some way, but the exact nature of this link is uncertain. It seems probable that the ominous and haunting nature of these places increases the fear and dread which their victims feel, and thus the energy which they give off prior to death.
Mating This ritual is vastly unknown, but the balls of light know as Wisps have actually been seen multiplying from one another as if the light has come directly from the of wisp and just floated away.It is said that the birth of another "Will'o'Wisp" is basically a clone of the 'Mother'. No more is known about this creature, or have been seen mating only that the balls seem to just appear and float from within the 'mother' and float awake as if nothing has happened...a very mysterious indeed.
Additional, but not necessary:
Myth/Lore/Origin (Optional) Myth and lore seem to say that the Will'o'Wisp seem to be from another plain or dimension explaining why they can appear and disappear in a moment. Rumor has it that the Wisps are actually fairy that live in a opposite dimension and come to Santhharia to feed on the living. The good Wisps from there other dimension can sense the fear or loneliness of a traveller or child and transport themselves to this world to help him or her. Others belive there just myth and don't exist as they are seen very, very rarely.
I was trying to keep these creatures very unknown and explain it to everyone in a story telling sortof way as thse creatures in my eyes would be moremyth than alive to the population of Sath, but are infact real....
Well ill slap my opinion in here if everyones okay with that, i like the concept but that only thing i dont like is the way is turns its body into other things...shapshifting as t were...could you tell how that is done?...magic...muscel?
