2  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Clerical Spells? on: 25 June 2005, 14:29:00
we don't make clerical spells.
As the magic comes directly from the gods, the gods choose what exactly they desire the cleric to cast, if they decide to bless him with their power at all. Therefore, Clerical mages can be very strong, but are very dependent upon their gods.

3  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: necromancy on: 25 June 2005, 09:25:00
BECAUSE that is just SIMPLY the WAY IT WORKS.
It has worked before, it still works, and there's no apparent reason for us to change it.

Ximax has always worked with elements. That is the way Ximax works. It has seperate schools for the seperate elements ( towers...) and right now, magic is undergoing a large over haul, has been for some time and it will no doubt take a bit longer considering some of headiest mages have been missing for a great amount of time, perhaps not to return.

However, that is NOT a reason to scrap their work. I know at least Tarquet watches from a distance from time to time, and crap, Xarl... he could still be here, somehwre. You never know with that guy. As for Dasson- I can't really tell you. I meddled in magic and then had a bit of a falling out with another member- during my absence I would imagine Dasson left.

If you turn to worshipping gods, then you fall into Clerical magic, which possesses no spells- all the magic of a clerical mage comes directly from the God; a lightning rod of magic, if you will.

So. yea. arg.

4  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Is aging an elemental process??? on: 23 June 2005, 12:25:00
there's a spell called draining already in place, which similarly does the same thing.
Besides, why would you want to AGE someone? Couldn't you use an Earth Barrier spell, or some other spell which requres less effort to halt an oncoming foe? An aging spell seems kind of... useless. Even torturous.
Taking a huge chunk of someone's life in an instant like that would defenitely make you unpopular.

Aging isn't an elemental process. It is indeed a process, but under natural circumstances wholly ungoverned by any element. If one wishes to push it, it could fall under necromancy ( under Earth) but such a process would require a major amount of magic skill and an available amout of ca'rall to spend on such a process.

I'd ultimately frown upon an Aging spell.

There is a clerical magic that manipulates emotions and in some small sense, the mind... lemmego see...

Foirosian, Eyashan and Etherusian clerics are in a sense, enchanters.
However, they cannot INVOKE, they can only amplify.
So-

yea.
Hope that doesn't screw with your spheres.

7  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: what does a mage do for a living? on: 12 December 2003, 23:25:00
Well-
Like colleges around the world- there are people there to study, people there to teach and people there to make the whole place function.

So some people from Ximax may still stick around, as teacher aides, or assistants to archmages, or people who make lunch and mop floors.

And what about people with college degrees? Some may pursue their teahcings- travelling mages, imbuers, assistants to counts and political courts, and assistants to traders and whatnot, using theri skills. That should make great money.

And some who still know magic may decide they don't want to do Magic for a living. They can be traders themselves, or they may decide to be horse breeders or farmers, or sell land or whatever.

Just becuase you know magic doesn't entirely mean you need to DO it for a living. Some people may do it for enrichment, others for entertainment.

*shrugs*
My two cents- though chances are it'll get shuffled back to me and told my money's no good here. :P

The whole form of the Arm becomes BONE.
Meaning that skin, muscles, BONE, become hard as BONE. Hence "GUISE", meaning mask.
If i meant it to take away all the muscle and skin, I'd have called it " Visible Bone"
But it's not.
The WHOLE FORM casted on becomes bone.
Cast it on your face, you'll see a chalky-white visage that looks EXACTLY like the person. NOT A SKULL.

*sighs* we get it?
