Death Grip(lvl 8 earth/ecua spell)

Spell effect: this spell gradualy causes the targets Car'all to gradualy decay and in time disipate to the point of death for the target. The symptoms felt by the victem often include weakening of the body and mind, hallucations, headaches, trouble concentraiting, unexplained bleeding out of places that felt no wound, paleing of the skin, blindness, insanity, a grayish film over the eyes, and of coarse death. This spell is most often used on sleeping victems, and used in short doses over a long period of time, often not so much to kill as to keep the target in a state of perpetual bad health.

casting procedure: the caster takes the sample of tissue of fluid from the intended victem and holding it in his right hand makes a fist, squeezzing on the object alowing it to symbolise the grip of death he is placing on the victem, his body flowing into a quasi-meditative state.

Magical formula:inán chuhán coorán (to be still, to fall, to die)

School: elimental Earth, Ecua

Spell class:necromancy

Rang:b   etween 5-10 peds max depending on the mages skill level

Duration: The Caral disipates as long as the victem still lives and the caster has energy to maintain the spell
Castign time:  depending on the strength of the target... to fully disipate a small child coudl take less than 15 minits but elves and other more resilinet creatures could take days of striaght casting to fully disipate
Reagents: a sample of tissue from the target(blood skin hair etc.)

targets:any living thing may be targeted

Countermeasures:Healing spells, protection spells, some blessings, or being a healthy reslient person are all more or less effective countermeasures.

hmmm rember we're using skill sets not classes so individual god clerics will need to be mutualy exclusive sets... anyway dont forget the R'unorian gods and such... maybe under one of the classes should be an interrupt spell that will disrutp another wizard in mid casting o r something

mayby arti should hire an assistant...

Steelurchin:
R'unorian short-medium ranged thrown weapon, these weapons consist of a small metal, stone, wood, or ceramic ball, normaly between 3 and 5 centipeds/centimeters in diamiter. sproting from the ball is a set of either 4, 5, or 6 spines, each is between 6 and 7 centipeds/meters long and usualy barbed and tipped with varios venoms. the battern of placement of the spines is either all in line with one another like spokes on a wheel or covering the ball evenly along all axisis(4 and 5 spined are almost always lined up in "wheel" form while most, but not all, 6 spined Steelurchins are set in a sphere pattern.) they are popular amoung mercenaries and assains aswell as standard eqiuoment for all r'unorian military personel.

Sealtooth:

A R'unorian medium range thrown weapon, they consist of a single metal dart lined with backward facing bladed spines, they are usualy aproximatly the size of a human forefinger and glazed with varios sorts of venom. THey fly ina  straight fast pattern with great flesh and armor piercing qualities and are a favored tool for assasins both inside and outside of the R'unorian sphere of influence.

Moondeath:

a R'unorian medium range thrown weapon, thrown weapon they consist of a metal ring... aproximatly 10 or so cp in diamiter whos outer edge is sharpened finer than a razor and are often given grusome claw like serrations, one or two cross peices, normaly eithe wood or metal, cross the center of the ring and prvide a safe place to grip the disk when throwing or carrying it. Moondeaths are useualy crafted in such a manner as that they do not fly straight but in a circular fasion, some if not imbeding into some poor chaps skull(or a wall) will return within catching distance of there thrower. they are a common tool of more eliet assasin and mercinary organizations aswell as the higher tiers of R'unorian military rank.

Striker:

R'unorian close combat warclub, these weapons consist of a round heavey-wooden rod, usualy4 centipeds in diamiter with leather wraped around its grip for easy handeling and a metal ring set at its lower end so it can be hung on a belt hook when not in use, the rod is usuealy around a ped long and the grip takes up the first 1 thrid of this, the remaning two thrids ,used for the actulay striking, is eqiped with three lines running from grip to its end, of flatended connical metal nubs. this weapon is most often used as a defensive close combat weapon by the r'unorian military.

R'unorian commoners dagger:

A long thin dagger, often carried in pairs used for both assasinatrions, defence and close combat. They are commonly worn by all members of R'unorian socity along with varrities of short thinbalded knives. this varity consists of a hard steel blade stained a non refelctive black and a leather wraped handel, also non refelctive black.

Touch of Death:

A rare assasins weapon of R'unorian orgin consisting of what apears to be a fine elbow lenth glove, however inside the glove is hidden a sping loaded blade that extens from the wrist when the wearer thists her hand back to a 90 degree angle with the forearm, the blade is razor fine aproximatly the lenth of the human hand. backward facing barbds line its sides and once hooked into the victems flesh the weilder simply puls there hand away and the blade slides from its mehcnaism, leaving little inciminating evidence with its wielder.

6  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Weapon - crossbow on: 24 January 2002, 17:56:00
The R'unorians also have a modification on the cross bow

R'unorian infantry crossbow:another varity of crossbow was developed in R'unor around the year -700b.s. this is a slightly elongated variation on the standard heavy crossbow, the major diffrence being that these models were actulay two crossbows stacked on top of each other, alowing the bow to fire both shots simutaniosly or sepretly

R'unorian Navel Crossbow:More of a small blaista than a crossbow in actuality these are simply enlarged versions of the heavy crossbow that take 4 foot metal shafted arrows, usualy with the head coated with pitch and set alight

R'unorian cavelry crossbow: very much similar to the infantry crossbow eccept with 3 bow mechanisms and a harness so it can be fired one handed, also it is slighly longer ranged than typical but only by a few feet.

(ENTRY MOVED TO WEAPON COLLECTRTION THREAD< PLEASE IGNOR THIS)

Heralding from the Isles of R'unor [(¿)sea-teeth(?)] are amoung the ideal thrown weapons  for the assasin, mercinary, gaurd, or even common foot solduir or archer. the origins of the [?] dateing back to the late pre-unification period the the isles of R'unor they were probably developed by one of the roming assasin/mercinary clans that sprung up in the termoil of the common inter-tribe wars. [(¿)sea-teeth(?)] come in three primary types, "ball","nail", and "disk", based off of shape and percise use.

"ball"[(¿)sea-teeth(?)] consist of the earliest and most common design of [?], these weapons consist of a small metal, stone, wood, or ceramic ball, normaly between 3 and 5 centipeds/centimeters in diamiter. sproting from the ball is a set of either 4, 5, or 6 spines, each is between 6 and 7 centipeds/meters long and usualy barbed and tipped with varios venoms. the battern of placement of the spines is either all in line with one another like spokes on a wheel or covering the ball evenly along all axisis(4 and 5 spined are almost always lined up in "wheel" form while most, but not all, 6 spined ball[(¿)sea-teeth(?)] are set in a sphere pattern.)

"Nail" [(¿)sea-teeth(?)] on the other hand consist of a single spine, useualy longer and heveir than individual ball spines they are usualy Nail shaped with several sets of barbes and an all metal form. although more difficult to use and throw Nail[?] fly faster over longer distances with better armor percing or flesh/hide penitrating abilty, on the down side however Nail[(¿)sea-teeth(?)] are nealy impossable to throw in an arched flight path and take consderably more practise and coordination to use than ther ball counterparts.

"Disk"[(¿)sea-teeth(?)] are the newest and most expensive sort of [(¿)sea-teeth(?)], they consist of a metal ring... aproximatly 10 or so cp in diamiter whos outer edge is sharpened finer than a razor and are often given grusome claw like serrations, one or two cross peices, normaly eithe wood or metal, cross the center of the ring and prvide a safe place to grip the disk when throwing or carrying it. Disk[(¿)sea-teeth(?)] are useualy crafted in such a manner as that they do not fly straight but in a circular fasion, some if not imbeding into some poor chaps skull(or a wall) will return within catching distance of there thrower. needless to say although one of the more effective varities they requir a great deal of skill to weild effectively.

9  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Fish and ships again!! can't we have hamburgers or somesuch on: 22 August 2001, 13:57:00
(r'unor is not armed with airships, the concept is unsiutable in a fantasy seting like santharia and is beyond even r'unors considerable technological advantage)

THe r'unorian navey, one of the strongest in the world, has made up for its lack of reasorces, and therefor small numbers of ships, through both the incorperationn of steel and iron in the outer hull and internal structure of vessels(one must understand that in r'unor wood is actualy more expensive by volume than iron) and also by adapting not to the traditional boarding or steady bombardment tactics but to swift hit and run attacks, and ambushes.

Not all ships of this mighty kingdom are of military persausion however, quite to contrary, may interesting merchant velles and even passenger ships call the ports of r'unor home, some are even of unique desnges built exclusively in these isles.

Below is a short list of the basic types of vessles found in the r'unorian armada and merchant fleets(listed in order relitive to average size of vessle)

River Bardge: These vessels are just that simple bardges used for transporting cargo up rivers, there are useualy rectangular with flat bottoms that aid in tranversing the shallower water, they are compleatly unsuted for deep ocean travel

Scout Ship:smallest of the r'unoran fleets vessels suitable for deep ocean travel, these ships have extremly small crews(3-4 average) and measure only 10 or 12 peds from bow to stern, there are used as the name implies for short rang scouting for the merchant or military vessels that almost always are found acompaning it

Corsair: Small highspeed vessles, designed for hit and run attackes they useualy measure 50 or 60 peds from bow to stern and are armed with a solitary catipult on a special roating platform. as well as 4 balista implacements, one faceing port, one starboard, on forward and one aft.

Merchant Freighter:measuring 70-80 peds bow to stern and 50-60 port-starboard these vessles are designed to hold massive amounts of cargo, both grains and wood and other raw materiale to r'unor and finely crafted finished good from the isles these ships make up the bulk of the r'unotian merchant fleet, sometimes converted into troop transports during war-time.

WarShip: 100-120 peds from bow to these ships are useulay reserved for defensive of support rolls to the more agile corsairs. they have 2 gundecks with a complement of up to 10 or even 20 balistas as well as three rotaing catipult platforsm sometimes refitted with levelers or trebuches(misspelled).

Dreadnaught:these are huge vessels, but also slugish, they measure useualy between 200 and 220 peds bow to stern and 150-160 port to starboard, ther have 5 gudecks and are impemented with usualy 20+ stationary balisat implacements and 4 raotaing catapult/leveler/trebuchet implacements... however there primary funtion are as landing platforms for lurker divisions alowing for greater range in flight... there are only a small handfull of these mamoth ships in the r'unorian armada and they class is being discontinued in the near futer due to high mantenace costs and limited aplications

the vines wont wrap around you and plunge you into the flower during the reproductive stage.

12  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / replacement Bethelatron entry on: 17 June 2001, 12:27:00
BETHELATRON, the. R'unorian carnivorous vines.

These unique vines found only on the islands of R'unor have addapted a unique solution to the problem's of growing on the bare stone cliff faces found along shorelines and the scattered mountains of R'unor, they feed not only upon nutrients found naturaly in soil but suplement this by feeding on animal life found on the islands.

To accomplish this the vines grow small hairlike receptors along there legnth used to detect vibrations. if direct contact is maid with the plants receptors the vine will wrap around its prey with enogh force to crush the bones and internal organs of most animals. after the prey is secrured the vine will retract itself towerds the larg centrial flower growing at its base, when not in its reproductive paze the flower serves as a container for a vile mixture of natural plant venomes and acids and enzyms that, once the prey is emersed in, will disolve it to a liquid form that is exorbed by the plant.

During the reproductive phase, Occuing at regular intervils every 5 or ten years, the flower will undego a significant transformation. the Venomous mixture is drained into sacks located at its base and is replaced by a sweet, greenish colored liquid, high in both protine and carbohydrates. The vines are not sensitive at this time and will inor stimulouse. many birds as well as some larger animals gather to feed on the nectre, coveringthemselves in polin in the process. the Nectre is also considered a most desireable beverage by the human population and can sell for up to 3 gruldar a liter.
