Yes- warcraft definately is the sort of music that is undenyably orcy- the pounding drums and heavy brass.  I never played the games- but I actualy sang in the choir for a performance of "Video Games Liive" so I got to experience the music first hand- very thrilling!

The swell of appreciation and welcome has been very encouraging and I cant wait to work on the next.  First I need to read up on the elves a little more, it's going to be hard to make a theme that represents them all- since they are so diverse.  I loved the Elvish music in the LoTR movies- but I think that neat eastern sound dosent realy jive with the very western looking elves of Santharia.  We'll see.

As for this track- how would you like me to send you the MP3?  If you are shrewd, you can download it straight from putfile- but the link to download is really hidden.  Would you preffer I post it on a filehosting site, or should I email it?

But I'm rearing to start.

Glad you enjoyed it.  I use Sibelius to write my peices and I record them with Kontakt Player Gold and a little help from Soundforge.

So should I continue and do the elven theme?  I don't want to work on it if you dont want it  grin

Hello fellow Dreamers!

I am Macar; a composer, sometime artist, and a big role playing enthusiast.  I am involved in a handful of online communities, including the Tamriel Rebuilt (a mod for Morrowind) and The Ancient Realms (an independent computer RPG).
I first discovered this site when the director of The Ancient Realms, Morgoth, showed it to me as an example of a great website and an active online community.  I have since spent quite a lot of time admiring the very rich content of your site.  As a composer I was naturally drawn to the music- and the idea of creating music simply to enrich lore is brilliant.  I am also wowed by the quality of the artwork and the commitment of the writers- the site is truly an inspiration.

When we were building up our own website and forum, we were inspired by the success of yours.  The primary goal of The Ancient Realms is to create a detailed and unique fantasy world where the lore extends way below the superficial level (most computer games are content with only basic, superficial lore).   So the way lore is arranged and fleshed out on your website was a great example.

However, I couldnít help but notice that most, but not all of your main races have musical themes.  Unfortunately, I do not have the time to become a true active member of your community- I donít want to spread myself too thin.  However, I felt compelled to write a piece for you.  I read everything that the site had about orcs- including the stuff in the brilliant linguistic department- and I set to writing the following piece.  I hope you like it, and I hope that itís Santharian- I realize that my style is a little different than your lead composer, Ralrok.  I give you Orcish Brutality

Iíd also like to write an Elvish theme- presuming that nobody else is working on one- and that youíd like me to.

I hope you enjoy the music- and I also hope that some of you will visit us at www.theancientrealms.com and check out our forums- let us know what you think or maybe even stick around and help us with your experience.  We are just getting started and we only have a few members so we are very interested in your input.
