1  Santharian World Development / Races, Tribes and Clans / Re: Tribes briefly mentioned on site, but no entry yet? on: 12 September 2013, 04:57:18
Actually, reading deeper, it does say human, elf, dwarf, and orc. That seems like a lot of diversity so I haven't even gotten that far. I have been reading up on anything that mentions Quios at all at the moment.

I thought the Enthroians weren't a tribe, but a couple references made it sound like they were.

I am working through some ideas for Quios and was going to post for offical permission to work on that area, but I guess I will ask here. I'd like to work on the tribe entries for the area as well as other aspects of the Isles.

I would like to see more done with the Isles of Quios and those potential tribes and play around with it myself. Hopefully I can find a way to get back into writing. I miss it, but it is so difficult for me these days.
4  Santharian World Development / Races, Tribes and Clans / Tribes briefly mentioned on site, but no entry yet? on: 08 September 2013, 21:30:36
What can I say, I was bored at work and writing doesn't come that easy to me these days, so I thought I might look into the various tribes in the Sarvonia region that do not have entries so that they can be a reference point for people developing in the area or for people to work on with approval.

Since Sarvonia is the main area of focus, I figured I would start there (plus head hurts too much to move onto other areas tonight :P ...).

Any thoughts and input appreciated.

The Carmarhim Elves - Island of Denilou?
     - Mentioned in the entry Carmarhim Rónn Pherán'Ephtaerín called 'the tribe from Carmalad'.
     - Briefly mentioned in the people section of the the Ciosa entry.
     - Not mentioned in the Carmalad entry.

The Glandorian Men - ? - Athviaro working on it
     - No longer exsists.
     - Avennorian Men entry states that they are from the Kanapan Peninsula.
     - Glandorian history says "ca. 11340 b.S. - Founded Ciosa".
     - Kanapan Men history says "11.900 b.S. - Glandorian's land on Peninsula of Glandor".
     - Found masterwork proposal, but where do they 'originate from'?

The Darian Men - Southern Sarvonia - Talia working on it
     - No longer exist.
     - Ancestors of the Shendar?
     - Found Talia's draft for their entry (forgive me for digging it up ;) ...).

The Shire of Elenveran (Hobbits) - Elverground?
     - Seems like lots of connections to hobbit community already made.

The Kaizranian Men - Thalambathians?
     - Draft for this tribe.

The Churican Hobbits - Isle of Churican?
     - Mentioned in the Isle of Churican entry.
     - Crossbreeding with humans?

The Tsváen’mol’khár Elves (Dark Elves) - Shivering Woods?
     - No longer exist?
     - Mentioned in Shivering Woods entry, but don't even show up in a site search.

The Evathonrhim Elves (Ice Elves) - Forest of Contamar
     - Only live in the forest or other surrounding areas?
     - Mentioned in the Forest of Contamar entry and some flora/fauna entries.
     - Rough religious views on dev site - unfinished.

The Dinali Men - Northern Sarvonia
     - No longer exist.
     - Northern Sarvonia entry states "aggressive barbarians from peninsula of Kr'uul".
     - The Peninsula of Kr'uul entry says they were twisted by magic of Eckra the Cruel.

The Mynian Men - Northern Sarvonia
     - Kingdom entry written.
     - No longer exist.
     - Should there be a tribe entry?

The Doranian Men - Island Kingdom of Doranian
     - New name? Mentioned twice on site.
     - The Kingdom entry mentions two tribes or groups.

Human, Orc, & Elf Tribe - Isle of Quios - Garret working on it
    - Entry mentions at least some humans and some orcs, but nothing further.

The Gremm Gnomes
    - A tribe of gnomes who linger in the forest.
    - As a tribe they are inordinately shy and tightlipped, distrusting anyone outside their own kind.
    - Quite how and why they tolerated the Cyrathrhim presence in their forest will remain a mystery.

I know that this doesn't matter in this discussion, but I did not write the Eanian Warg entry. Honestly, I don't even know if I have read it. I worked on the warg project with Tharoc, but that 'breed' was his baby.

If there are any inconsistencies within the entry in relation to distances and other aspects, then I believe we should start a thread on that and discuss those problems and fixes as a group since that is a delicate subject, but at the same time, we cannot leave errors.

I will go read the entry and this thread to get caught up. The wargs were my territory as well and I will do what I can to help if we need to make some adjustments.

Okay so it looks like the elves currently are said to only live in the Forest of Contamar. The developer was last online in 2009 and all I can find is a poll for the naming, the Forest entry, and then a 'rough sketch' of the religion. I think that this is a tribe that at least needs a defined territory and put on a list somewhere for someone to eventually write so that there is a little more solid documentation for issues like this.

I think it would be best to contain them to the forest and recommend reworking Tharoc's entry slightly to work with that.

Sorry for hijacking your thread a little Alt.

This is out of the range of Vardynn, but I would like to eventually finish my entry to the Roan Forest if no one objects to that. It is located in the Xaramon area, but this map shows part of the area I had planned for this, between the lower fores and the Ilian Plateau which is why I mentioned it at all.

I've obviously been lurking way too much since yall feel the need to make me work ... ;)

We haven't actually been introduced. I'm Garret, aka Stalker of All Things Canine. I'll be checking in on this and watching it progress.  evil

Btw, what category do you see this falling under? Mythical, Monster, Wild Animals, etc? Designating what kind of beast it will be will help with drawing the interest of the people who focus in that area.

Ah, got ya. Well, no objections. It looks good to me.

Apparently I can't just lurk. Not sure what you want me to comment or give my opinion on Dek. Doesn't look like much has been changed from my original writing.
10  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Disks (Kyranian Game) on: 17 March 2010, 22:22:04
Thanks Alt. I'd type more, but I shouldn't be typing this. I'm supposed to be running out the door in less than 40mins and still munchin on my pepperoni hot pocket for breakfast. Time goes way too quickly in the mornings.

Just wanna say, that I'd prefer to have the name stay as it is ... *shrugs*

Anyways, Santh is gonna make me late for work if I stick around  buck
11  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Disks (Kyranian Game) on: 17 March 2010, 13:24:36
The name came from just callin it as it is. Ya take disks and throw them, hence disks. The real life version is called Washers cause they use Washer from a hardware store. It may sound boring, but the point was for it to be a simple game that really interests a group of people, yet outsiders don't quite understand it or feel drawn to it. *shrugs*

The only thing I could think of naming otherwise that would work, would be to take the last name of whoever first game up with it. The problem being is that it wouldn't have lasted long, in my mind, with the way I set the Kyranians up. Other names lasted, though like their cattle, it'd just be the Longhorn to most Kyranian farmers. At some point in time, I imagine someone mighta said, "Let's play the game with those disks" and it woulda stuck.

Just my thought process for keeping the game named as it is. Boring or not, in my mind it fits with everything I'm trying to create (if things settle down and I'm inspired to start developing again). *shrugs*
12  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Disks (Kyranian Game) on: 17 March 2010, 04:48:03
Looks good, my only suggestion would be 4 rounds with each player throwing 3 disks a round. Like I mentioned, we had pits for the game that inspired this one in our backyard till my hound messed them up and my and my dad would go out and just play till we got bored. With 6 disks in the pit at once, it's confusing enough keeping track of who threw what, let alone 12, if that makes any sense.

Aside from that little comment/suggestion, it looks good to go. Sorry for the delay.
13  Santharian World Development / Places and Map Design / Re: The Aerelian Lakes on: 12 February 2010, 14:33:48
Sorry to poke my nose in here, but I kinda have a forest of sorts on the north side of the Ilian Plateau. The entry for the Roan Forest is still a work in-progress, but the idea hopefully won't change too much and it's been mentioned in the entry/development for my Brownie tribe and in my work on the Kyranians.

I saw the north side of the Ilian Plateau as being mostly cliffs on the northern side and a more of a slope towards the west and a mix or just cliffs to the south. I didn't come across a description of it during my research for the Kyranians or of the area, but if there is one it coulda easily been missed.

Just my inturpetation of that.

Hmmm ... Seems my couple of visits while I was on the other side of the ocean now have a name! Woohoo! I feel important!

Any talk of a North American gathering, include me. :) I'd love an excuse to travel again. I gotta start being a responsible member of society and look for a job in Jan and start college in the Fall. Geesssh.
15  Santharian World Development / Miscellaneous / Re: Disks (Kyranian Game) on: 06 November 2009, 00:58:29
The game is actually 'Washers', or Redneck Horseshoes ... :) I'm from Texas and my dad built washer pits in our back yard gimme a break (though Rebel decided they were for digging and sleeping so they are no longer active).

I took a quick look through this last night. Hopefully in a couple days I'll be able to give better comments, just been a crappy couple days on this end as I told Dek in the IRC.
