1  Santharian World Development / Magic in the Lands of Caelereth / Re: Fire Magic Spells on: 03 June 2006, 16:59:00
Diminishment does seem a bit vague or inaccurate. Aspect seems like a nice word, as it does not imply diminishment or growth. Natural aspects of fire ....?

"Sorry if what I am saying doesn't have anything to do with Magic Stuff. Been trying to avoid this area of the boards like the plague." *Flees*

As I would like to keep this flower associated with a deity of somekind. This helps alot with the myth/lore area.";)  "I shall alter the name the moment I come up with one that fits into this area of Nybelmar." *Regards* Kaddy Ridlweaver

3  Santharian World Development / The Santharian Herbarium / Arléá's Tear on: 29 May 2006, 01:09:00
I attempted to integrate all the suggestions you gentlemen gave me. Though I do not quite like my wording for where it is placed in Nybelmar. So umm .... I think it is finished, for a rough draft. "Thank you all for looking!"

a) Categorization
Wildflower

b) Basic Overview of the Plant
The Arléá's Tear is an abundant wildflower found throughout coastal areas of southern Nybelmar. The flowers name is due to the striking color, a hue reminiscent of icy blue crystals, of the petals that sprout into nearly a three nailsbreadth wide puffball pattern near the beginning of spring. The flowers hang from their stems in something like a tear shape, lending some evidence to how this beautiful flower came to posses its name. Krean mothers in more rural areas have at times called this plant Arléá's Curse as the plants attributes in the months of Changing Winds and Singing Bird are quite unfriendly to the tiny feet and hands of curious children.

c) Descryption
Small clusters of stems no more than the diameter of a fine quill, numbering no less than two and no more than five, germinate from the base of this plant. This assortment of stems rise nearly straight up, no higher than a third of a ped before curtailing outwards to droop and hang low near their tips, these long mournful stems are from which these beautiful flowers hang from. This sagging appearance gives many a casual observer the feeling that the plant is weeping, especially when the tear shaped flower is in full bloom.

In the initial months of spring the supple petals of this flower have a light but sturdy film about their edges. Though glistening and beautiful this attribute of the flower can also be sharp if grasped or stepped upon at the wrong angle. Hence why mothers can often be heard scolding their children for playing with this fragile flower at these times.

This film is a self-defense mechanism of the plant that gives itself time to pollinate before herbivores can feast upon it. This film flacks off the plant until it comes into full flower. At which time very diminutive amounts of this residue, if any at all, is left upon the plants spilk like petals.

d) Territory
Fairly common along the coastal areas of southern Nybelmar ranging in rarity to near 2 stral inland. As the plant does not thrive well in shadowed places it is often found about the edges of higher grown vegetation. Yet finding it secreted away beneath a small outcropping of stone is not unheard of, it does hinder the plants growth, leaving these findings as oddities.

e) Usages
More than one would be suitor has used the chilly hues of this flower to add depth to vibrant floral arrangements given to maidens in waiting. The faithful of the Goddess Arléá use this blossom in her worship, but the plant is often associated with rituals pertaining to the moon. The radiant blue of the blossoms is quite striking when moonbeams dance upon their surfaces.

f) Reproduction (optional)
Cross pollenization then the seeds are carried in the bellies of a variety of herbivores and deposited in their droppings.

g) Myth/Lore/Origins (optional)
The plants abundance along coastal waters is associated with Arléá as it appears these tears return once more to the sea at the end of summer. Resting with their Goddess until the cycle of seasons brings about the wisps of spring. When her tears are once again shed upon the land with the first moonlit rays of early spring. An abundance of these blossoms lead Arléá's faithful to reckon a fruitful year is waiting for them.

"As there seems little to base Arléá's faithful on, I did not want to breech any religious ceremonies someone may be working on. So I kept it somewhat vague ...."

“Hi Judith and all others!” *Curtsies frivolously* “I placed up my rough draft for my first entry in the herbarium. Though I am uncertain about the specific location I choose for this particular wildflower. Once this is commented on I could have the rest of the semantics written up in very short order. As I know the exact direction I am going with this particular flower I just need to find a spot for it to fit in this wonderful world. So for anyone that wants a short read (for the moment) and feels like seeing if this plant fits in the local I have chosen for it, please feel free to let me know when you have time. It is called Jeyriall’s Tear.” *Regards* Kaddy Ridlweaver

Hello again! :wave

*Waves at Marvin* "Hello Old person" *Smiles in aMUZEment*

Since I am not exactly sure what an apprenticeship means, I will have to follow Twen's advice. "Dear Judith, if this means we can work together and I have someone that will help me navigate thru my entries. Then I would like to humbly beseech you for acceptance. This place is amazingly vast and it is a bit hard for me to find things at times. My friends Dagan and Twen told me that I should -Santharianize- all my writings, not easy finding all the wonderful words I need to make this so."

Twen: I have already started a rough draft of my first entry proposal. Though it far from complete, I will find the proper place to put forth my idea so that others can view it. It is a wildflower with some unique properties, nothing magical or poisonous, just praying it is original, beautiful and interesting. (To many commas in this sentence?)

So Orril: Maybe one day I will look into magic things but for now I prefer more mundane pursuits. If we work together like you mentioned, I am sure that we could create some nice entries for the site. But you are going to have to handle the magical things and I will handle the descriptive stuff. Sound fair? If that doesn't work, then we can just berate them in Spanish and leave them confused for a change. ;)

:wave       Hello Talia! I will make sure to keep any grammatical questions on the other side of Santharia from you.

Well Webmaster, So Orril has helped me alot with site navigation and Twen said that he has come a very long way with his grammar. Because everyone thinks his grammar seems to be lacking, maybe he and I could help one another. :)

Hello Coren!!! You're all a friendly lot.

Hi Modhal, try not to change names on me to much. I am still a bit disoriented trying to find my way around here, there is sooo very much to read. It is good to see you again! Thought maybe you just disappeared, I heard that happens around here. :(

I am a she So Orril :crazy

My first language is Spanish though my step-father is American and I have had some practice with the language since I was young, about 7. I was born in Puerto De Mazarron, Spain. Although I have lived in America for about 2 years now, moved here when my parents married.

My English really suffers if I rush myself, so I will try to take my time when writing things. Better for me to correct my own mistakes than to drag others away from their creativity to do things I should. Twen and Dagan are my friends and they have both promised to help me if I need it. Though Twen mentioned So Orril, Talia and Judith as people I can contact if I am having alot of problems with my grammar. Is this ok for you Bard Judith?

I will try to keep all of those ingradients in mind when I am posting Judith. It sounds like a fine recipe for success in many things.:)

Thank you Webmaster, the herbarium sounds like a nice place for me to start. But first some reading is needed.:nod    The Styrash words and such are sorta brought about by where I wrote my CD. Twen goes to my school and I wrote it on her comp. She has alot of notes and things on that stuff so it made these things easier for me.

Errr..... where to begin? Well I am a big fan of most things fantasy based. I prefer writing short stories and poetry mostly but I guess every entry is a tale waiting to be told.

I am not sure if I am allowed to post in this area since I am not even titled yet. But I trully would like to help work on the Dream you're all constructing. English is not my first language so I would like to apologize in advance, if my grammar is not the finest you have seen. I do try to go over my writings more than once before posting because if I hurry most times it does not come out as it should.

Are there things I could help with here? Or should I wait till I am titled before posting here more?
