1  Organization and General Discussions / Development Master Plans / Re: Xaramon Master Plan Discussion on: 24 May 2012, 16:34:21
Hey,

I've replied to Art's PM, but a quick note in here.

Seems like you're moving well on this master plan, so no worries awaiting when I might have time to continue the map. If someone else wants to take it over I will find somewhere else to map as and when I next have a proper time here.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with during my occasional visits.

Happy Dreaming :)

Manthria continues to pave the way. This looks excellent Arti.  thumbup

Xaramon is what I've started, but I'll be watching this thread and if the motivation to do a province overwhelms me I'll let you know  buck

I've just scanned through this looking at random bits (mainly Arti's map - wooo  thumbup) and I'm overwhelmed at the awesomeness. I simply can't give enough aura's out ;-)

Fascinating project and I look forward to finding the time to read this thread in detail.

That was my original plan.

I'll do some hunting for references anyway

(- note that this map is only there to define the size, nothing else)

So I can move rivers and mountains, add new ones etc?

Thanks Arti  thumbup...

I'll get right on it. Not sure I want it to be my masterwork, but we'll see  :P

You're both right, it should be something I really want to do.

And so I've chosen.

It's something I've thought about before, and I think will be a significant contribution to the Dream. It's an opinion I know others share that maps really help bring out the creativity and imagination. They help spark ideas and visualise areas like nothing else. And it's not surprising that most of my works have been in either Manthria or the Scattersand Shoals - the two places in the dream with detailed maps.

When I last came back after a longer away period I noticed a group were busy working on one area, getting lots of ideas together. That work has kind of fizzled a bit now, but I'm sure will start up again at some point. And when that happens I would like them to be able to work from a more concrete guide.

As such, with Council approval, I have decided that my Masterwork will be a manthria-style map of the Xaramon region.

I attach a small sample of some work I did towards this a while ago.

It will be a large undertaking, as Arti for one knows only too well after his efforts on the Manthrian map. I will need a lot of input from a variety of people on places, names, areas, borders, roads, and a hundred other things I'm sure. Thankfully I have Mina's excellent map as a starting point.

I think it's time Ximax and other local places finally get themselves mapped out.

I welcome all thoughts :)

'lo Tatty...  I see you've made it here too.

Make yourself at home.

Thanks you two.  grin

I have one idea that has bubbled up. But I'll hold off revealing it until I have another as I want to explore other possibilities too.

To that end I welcome ideas from people - as Arti noted I've dabbled in quite a few areas and entry types so I'm open to most things.

Many thanks to the Council for the opportunity (I think  ;) ) and similar thanks for the kind words of support.

I know my presence in the dream is 'varied' at best, and as such I never expected to reach the point of contemplating a masterwork. I was content to flit in and out doing entries as and when time permits (*eyes Genani, as she stands there stubbornly unfinished*).

However, with the offer before me I can't help but feel tempted. It may take a year (or two... *cough*) but a masterpiece you shall have! Many thanks again for the opportunity.

Happy Dreaming. :)

P.S There may have to be a discussion about membership though - yellow simply isn't my colour. Perhaps blue? *grins*

Excellent picture... somehow you've managed to capture a quality of honest strength in those eyes. They seem peaceful, but capable. Intelligent but not hostile. Very impressive.

The only comment on the eyes, is the eyelids seem a little flat, and 2D, seemingly no thickness to them.

+Aura from me ... I look forward to seeing this along side Tikky's Eyelian woman which I happen to know is currently in production.

Happy Dreaming.

Hey,

Good story, I enjoyed reading it. You wrote it with lovely attention to detail, that really brought it to life in my mind.

A couple of points :

Quote
As Therano plucked his sun to its highest house, the light hitting the both our shields and those of the Kárákánites, the two warriors were bathed in a blinding light.

There's something odd about this sentence... I've highlighted in red the two areas I think is the cause. Perhaps it's my lack of knowledge of Therano.

~

Quote
Nakratos rose from the ground, his skin now covered the grey dust

Two points here. First, doesn't the dust cover his skin, rather than his skin covering the dust?

Second, I wasn't aware Nakrotos had fallen. From my understanding, he threw his hammer, flooring his opponent. I don't see the point he fell himself such that he needed to rise from the ground.

~

Other than that, a good read.

Happy Dreaming :)

Much thanks for the detailed comments Shaba, and also a belated thanks to you too Jonael.

I love the idea for the butterfly ray to be included. Marine species aren't Genani's speciality, more Tenrans sort of thing given his heritage. But that isn't to say they didn't research it together.

Shaba : Your comments are great as usual and I think I agree with just about all of them. The only one I'm not sure about is detailing precisely what her spirit guide species is, I'm not sure that doesn't go against Eyelian custom. However, in a general sense, saying she has an affinity with birds should be fine.

We'll get our heads together and see if we can't add some flesh to these bones... glad to hear the skeleton holds together atleast :D

Happy Dreaming.
