Hi, all. Bothersome RP'er here to bug you again...
Actually I think it would be a good idea to divide the list by the areas the creatures live in, (I know there'll be a lot of overlapping. But, hell.) This would make it easier for people to use creatures in their stories et.c. as they'd just look up the area the story/char./whatever is in and see all thats there. It would also work as a great source of inspiration. (ooh, those creatures live here? lets see, what can I do to put them in my story...) I have a point?
Thinking of it, it could be a demon-race. Though I dobt it would be approved as it, since there are already very many races of demons. But it would explain its wierd appereance, its rarity and why noone knows where they are from...
Alternatively it could be, as Avis suggested, a Demonology-ritual gone wrong.
The Maddy'yi Abbreviation of "Madydeetheyi", meaning "Soulmoulders" or "soulshapers" in the [insert name of language here] language.
People generally refer to them as the Maddy'yi, Madydeetheyi, soulmoulders or soulshapers all depending on the context and the nature of the conversation.
Appearance: Usually invisible, A scholar in Strata , however, clamed to have seen this creature in 714 b.S. in his book "of the dark hidden powers of Strata". Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to properly study the foul visage of this creature. It is tall and thin. I believe there might have been some long, thin tentacles coming out from its back. Otherwise I think it looks quite humanoid. All references to the creatures appearance are like that. No clear, definite descriptions, just what you see before you run.
Special abilities: They were supposed to be great invisible creatures with the ability to shape the body, and some say the soul, of their victims in any way best serving their intentions. The scholar mentioned above described it's abilities like this: "(...) I knew it was there when my companions hand started turning in ways that even I, with my modest knowledge of human anatomy, knew were impossible. There was a look of terror in his eyes, but I do not believe this was caused by any mind-influencing abilities(...)" Today these stories are rare and not really believed by anyone. They are, in their natural form, not invisible. Though they have over time learned to make themselves invisible. (You can't live for more than a 1000 years without picking up one or two little tricks.)
Territory: At least one lives in Strata. There may be some in other cities too. They usually stand behind great organizations with much power. Using their abilities to turn people to their ways.
Diet: Tales sometimes contained these creatures hunting down people and eating their hearts for the warmth they lacked themselves. Today these stories are rare and not really believed by anyone. In truth, well, While they were young and loved the drama of it, they did eat peoples hearts. Over the years they have learned to keep a low profile, though. This is one of the reasons why the stories about them are much rarer and less believed than before. They can really feed on just about anything a human could feed on.
Mating: They don't die from old age, and they are unable to breed in any way. (except maybe cloning)
Myth: They used to be widely spoken of in most of the area surrounding the city of Strata. Stories about them travelled far and were very efficiently used to scare children. And as jokes. They were supposed to be great invisible creatures with the ability to shape the body, and some say the soul, of their victims in any way best serving their intentions. Tales sometimes contained these creatures hunting down people and eating their hearts for the warmth they lacked themselves. Today these stories are rare and not really believed by anyone. (this is the only information a normal person living in this world would have of this creature. The book written by the Stratanian scholar is not commonly available as it is owned by one of the cities most prominent families.)
Origin: Where they come from is impossible to find out. Except maybe asking them...
Researchers: A scholar in Strata clamed to have seen this creature in 714 b.S. in his book "of the dark hidden powers of Strata". This book is not commonly available as it is owned by one of the cities most prominent families. It is also believed that this book contains information about the templars of the black pearl.
Anything else: The scholar also believed that the Templars of the black pearl thought these creatures to be servants of their deity
Ah, point. I should make that clear. It can't shape its own body only others. It's... magic, basically. Or it could be organisms the size of atoms that go in the openings of the body and pushes stuff around. It can do it to everyone it can see. Or maybe look in th' eyes? Would that be an idea?
maybe it could be a shapeshifter... with no natural shape. Too dangerous..?
I was thinking of a humanoid look with antenae in stead of a nose. would that do?
Perhaps I could make the quadrupeds or something... When you mention it, they do seem a bit like mindflayers in behavior even if they don't in abilities...
And I have to edmit those tentacles are a bit of a clichè...
Appereance: I'll do a pic of the researcher's book... Special abilities: Check. Territory: Check. Diet: Noone knows... Hearts maybe... Habitat/behavior: Check(ish) Mating: No. Myth: Check. Lore: Check. Origin: I want to keep that a mystery. Researchers: Check. Anything else: Check.
Do you mean I should put all I've written in to this system?
Hmmm.... Lets see... Appereance: I'll do a pic of the schientists book... Special abilities: Check Territory: Check Diet: Noone knows... Hearts maybe... Habitat/behavior: Check(ish) Mating: No Myth/lore/origin: Myth: check Lore:check Origin: I want to keep this mysterious...
