mina i don't think they are talking about blasting a brick wall with fireball. the fireball will just pass through people heating and burning things around and/or in it.

May the wind cast you to your doom evil ones

To get the sphere thingy clear: A fireball (as you know it from AD&D games for example, where a wizard kills some monsters) can never be sphere 1. A sphere 1 "fireball" would be a different spell.

An AD&D fireball is a typical sphere 2 spell, formed by air, and a powerful mage can add fire from his own cár'áll to it to make it absolutely devastating (sphere 3).

A spell is either sphere 1 or sphere 2 and it can be improved, which is level 3. So it's either enhanced sphere 1 = sphere 3 or enhanced sphere 2 = sphere 3.

The thing with the willpower pushing the fireball at sphere 2 could perhaps even be used to explain why a mage can't push something he created with sphere 1. If a mage creates a kind of firey ball with sphere 1 (note: completely different approach than sphere 2, therefore another spell), then he needs his willpower to uphold this creation, because he has only bent reality and it would fall back if he wouldn't use his willpower to maintain it. If he has done a sphere 2 spell, then the fireball is actually generated, and after the creation is complete, he can use his willpower to send the fireball a certain way.

Thanks Arti, kinda how I saw it. Sphere 1 spells are typically spells that need to be maintained by concentration.
