I'd like to know because I was thinking of making an earth spell called "Unnatural Age" which would make someone age incredibly quickly, a useful spell if a young barbarian warrior ran towards you his a 3 foot bastard sword and before he got into striking range he was an 80 year old which couldn't even lift the sword.

Well I was just asking, you know?

there's a spell called draining already in place, which similarly does the same thing.
Besides, why would you want to AGE someone? Couldn't you use an Earth Barrier spell, or some other spell which requres less effort to halt an oncoming foe? An aging spell seems kind of... useless. Even torturous.
Taking a huge chunk of someone's life in an instant like that would defenitely make you unpopular.

Aging isn't an elemental process. It is indeed a process, but under natural circumstances wholly ungoverned by any element. If one wishes to push it, it could fall under necromancy ( under Earth) but such a process would require a major amount of magic skill and an available amout of ca'rall to spend on such a process.

I'd ultimately frown upon an Aging spell.

It would most likely be a high level Ecuá spell. And necromancy is curently under Earth magic, but I would stay away from it for a while as it might be relocated some day.

manik is right, necromancy is currently being debated from being an earth, or a fire magic, or rather it was. attention is being diverted to other areas for now.

Why does all the magic has to be elemental( earth, fire, wind, water)? Necromancy can just be Death magic, where clerics worship the gods of the death, or call upon the spirits of the deathrealm. And necromancy could be a whole new element by magicians, and when it is explained by the Ximax system then the elements the caster uses are fire and earth randomly. Because necromancy propably has both… And to study it you will have to need a whole other system, Because the ximaxian way of teaching and understanding would never make it work.

BECAUSE that is just SIMPLY the WAY IT WORKS.
It has worked before, it still works, and there's no apparent reason for us to change it.

Ximax has always worked with elements. That is the way Ximax works. It has seperate schools for the seperate elements ( towers...) and right now, magic is undergoing a large over haul, has been for some time and it will no doubt take a bit longer considering some of headiest mages have been missing for a great amount of time, perhaps not to return.

However, that is NOT a reason to scrap their work. I know at least Tarquet watches from a distance from time to time, and crap, Xarl... he could still be here, somehwre. You never know with that guy. As for Dasson- I can't really tell you. I meddled in magic and then had a bit of a falling out with another member- during my absence I would imagine Dasson left.

If you turn to worshipping gods, then you fall into Clerical magic, which possesses no spells- all the magic of a clerical mage comes directly from the God; a lightning rod of magic, if you will.

So. yea. arg.

The Ximaxian form of necromancy, which pretty much deals with just reanimating the dead, was relocated to fire quite a long time ago.  They just never really got around to updating the spells already on the site.

Ximaxian magic is elemental because, as Viresse says, that's how the Ximaxians see it.  The way magic really works might be as the Ximaxians describe it, or it might not be, but since we're dealing with the Ximaxian intepretation of magic now, we're sticking to elements.  There might be other magic systems that don't use elements (the Santharian clerical system, for example, but it's a religious system), but our priority is to finish up the Ximaxian system.

Aging is a tricky thing.  I think it probably involves xeua or ecua, since it deals with 'life', which apparently has something to do with xeua links...or at least resurrection does.  On the other hand, it might fall under fire instead, which would make things a lot easier, but I don't think fire deals directly with life, so probably not.
