Aaaarrrtiiiii!!!

Umm...I broke one of the Northern threads. I went to edit the header and the ezcode broke everything...it was some older maps that I don't want to lose.

Can you help fix it when you have time? Pretty please?  heart Big Grin

I'll look into it after the update, Azhira!

The same answer I gave above applies to your mail as well, Coren. Just replace "Azhira" with "Coren". :)

Hey, Arti. I've been 'messing about' with designs for new map buildings etc. Whaddya think?
I know it needs shading, but do you think it will fit in ok on a map?

Basically, all I did was find a suitable image of Stonehenge and outline it in black, then deleted all the excess stuff. Simple.

Use the force, Luke.

And if that doesn't work, try switching it off and back on again.

That's not so easy to say.

Because once you change the resolution to fit on a map in the style we made, the appearance of these stones will change as well. Besides, it needs to blend into the background. So whenever I try to use an element I first scale it down, put it on a map background, redraw the lines and try to put some colour in and then shadows. You always need to have an eye on the final result if you start with it, you know. It's a bit tricky...

Yeah, I kinda realised the reduction issue a little too late. I did this in MS Paint as I haven't got the hang of Photoshop yet, but when I do I'll try again. Like you say, it's all a case of trial and error.

Anyway, good luck with the update!

Also you shouldn't do it with Paint, Tharoc, but directly in Photoshop. Put the source picture in an own layer, then make a transparent layer and draw on it, copying the lines from below. To see your drawn stuff better you could reduce the layer transparency of the layer below a bit as well. This way you get it all on an own independent layer. :)

I know *I'm* gonna cave in and get Photoshop.  My artsy friends are all telling me it's amazing that I've done these pieces (Kuglimz Barbarian, Oloy, the various other Santharian characters, and recent stuff) on the simple programs I currently have, and they think I actually might improve with better tools...    so that's what Bry is thinking about for a Christmas prezzie for me....

*cough* *cough* I see you unfortunately lost your manual somewhere, eh? *cough* *cough*

Anyway, Judy - with Photoshop in your hands you will really get a very powerful tool! And I bet your already great works will improve even a step further. Things like shadows, textures, light effects, excellent layer handling etc. make it a real treat to draw with it or to rework pictures to get something new out of them by recylcling (that word again!) old picture parts! It would be great to see you having this great tool in your hands!  thumbup

*cough cough*  Yes, that's it! I lost it.......or it was stolen.........no, no, I know what it was........I was reading it in the garden when the shiny cover attracted the attention of a rare Siberian limping Ferret, who snatched it from my grasp and hobbled quickly away with it, soon disappearing into a rift in the space/time continuum, where I couldn't follow as Mrs W had just called me in for my supper....Yes, that's exactly what happened, officer. *cough cough*

Errhm, yes, but of course!   I certainly think that sounds plausible, since my Fotoshoppe program was a gift from the highly reclusive but much-loved Kompyoetr Krackyr Faery, magically appearing as a sparkly icon on my desktop and with the relevant 'fyels' all in the proper places.  I am forced to assume that the 'Manyual Scroll' was too heavy for her to carry, so I shall have to resort to supplications to the Deities of Onlyne-resaerch for further assistance.

Do you think, does one need to sacrifice anything, or does sincerity and pureness of heart help?  In the latter case, I'm stuck....

 lol
I was thinking about printing out the 'Help' topic within the program itself, until I saw the size of it!
And the language! Surely they must think we are all time-served artshop geeks to expect us to comprehend even the simplest of commands.

Ah, well. I shall persevere. Onwards and upwards, as they say. Or, for the militarily minded, 'Adapt and overcome'.
