What about the selling in southern Sarvonia and that they sell for a great amount of money? Who should want them? I would propose to add instead a story that Turik of Barsalon and Minoki Kiuru were riding some when they came to New Santhala and that these were the first which were seen there. (Two more links!)

Since this has been Uried (see, it's even a noun now!) by our Northern Moderator, approved by the Bestiary Moderator, and readied for upload by our Sage, I think something which does not affect the gist of the entry can always be added later - particularly an unwritten story. Altario has done a great job at researching this, integrating edits, defending his concepts

and preparing his horse for its arrival in the Santharian universe. Thumbs-up to a promising new compendiumist!

I have been allowed or even requested to add stories to other peoples' entries in the past; I'm sure if you wanted to write up your proposal, Takor, that it could be added to the Kur'och entry in the future.

Thank you Judith. A compliment from you goes a long way, as I've read many of your posts here on the dev side. grin

@ Takor: I think that the horse would sell itself, at least to those who are looking for endurance and beauty in a horse. Would it be popular in the south? Probably not so much. But, as in RL, people like what they like. I'm in Canada, but I have seen breeders of the Arabian, the Shetland Pony, the Spanish Andalusian, the German Hanoverian and Trakehners, the...well, you get the point. grin

Domesticated breeds travel further than wild animals because of one very significant factor: man. As for the expense, to a people who value this horse as much as the Ice Tribes, it would take a good deal of money to get one from them, the relative rarity of the breed in general, and the costs of transporting them to the south should all factor into the costs. How they got there, to the south? Man. Man travels. Perhaps someone from the north traveled south, or conversely someone from the south traveled north. Is it that significant an event that it MUST be explained? I can do it if it has to, but I for one don't think it needs it. I think the expansion of domesticated breeds is far easier than if it were a natural expansion of a wild beast. Man has always disrupted nature.

But, I've been wrong before, lol.

@Altario--might also be seen as a cheaper alternative to the BIG draught horses, since it wouldn't eat nearly as much, it's very docile, and is attractive enough and small enough to serve as a riding horse (though southerners might clip the heavy coat to give it a trimmer appearance. I think you are right, and there would be at least a small market for them.

@Takor: That could be how the horses came into more common knowledge in Southern Santharia , however--through Turik's expeditions and with Minoki's assistance. I think that would be a very interesting story, if you wanted to write it to be added later.

But anyway, congrats to you Altario, and the Mologh will be in good company with the other horses in the Compendium!

I would like to hear from your though, at which travel routes you think and who actuaöy lives there who would trade goods over such distances. An East Sibirian Pony sold regularly to Europe at the time of the middle ages? ? I doubt that.

The rarity of the breed would mean that it is not traded regularly. As for the east Siberian Pony, I believe that Genghis Khan brought hundreds of those into Poland in the 13th century. His agenda was war, but had it have been trade...well, you get my drift. And Santharia is based on the middle ages, but is not the middle ages. There will be some differences. If not, then my history books left out a whole lot when it comes to elves, orcs, etc. I know that you are going for realism, and I appreciate that, but some allowances must be made as this is a fantasy setting.
