The backpack was a parachute that didn't work.

I've heard the first one but not the second one.  Hmmm...

Was the second man by any chance on a train?  And the people died by accidentally walking off the train because they couldn't see the right door with the lights out?

On number 2, is the light like a fire and that is the only source of heat they have so the people die because of the bitter cold. Just a guess.

The first one was beamed down from a Star Trek spaceship... He didn't cross the desert therefore, but while teleporting something went wrong with the teleporter and he broke his back. They were unable to repair it (no Scotty on board obviously, he'd have done that in five minutes!), so he met his fate there... evil

P.S. He wore a red t-shirt (=sure death if you know the Star Trek universe a bit)...  grin

ART!  lol

Hmm, very curious.

So the man didn't fall out of a plane with a malfunctioning parachute?  'Cause that's the version I heard, same as Mira.  Or were you only saying No to my guess about the train?

@Letitia, hmm kinda close as it does deal with light. But not it. grin

@Arti, a very curious answer indeed, I'll have to remember that

@Alysse, you already got the first one I was replying about the train answer.

Lets see if you can ever figure out the second one. evil

2. A man goes to use the restroom. After he goes out, back to bed he turns off the light. The next day many people die. The man that used the restroom then kills himself, for he caused the deaths. How did he do this.

The man was the a lighthouse watcher/warden. When he turnt off the light it was the lighthouse light. A ship sunk and he commited suicide as he was responsible for the deaths. The restroom ancedote is irrelevant.

That'd be my take on it. ;)

Hmm... Sounds plausible - the restroom/light thing is basically for distraction then in order to make it look quite ordinary. But people die on "the next day", right? - Would still be in the night then when a ship shipwrecks.

Unless he turned off the light before midnight and the ship wrecked after midnight. Theorethically that's the 'next day', although it's not night.

Yup, the "next day" just wants to mislead one in thinking it was daylight, however he went asleep and one usually sleeps through the day change meaning the ship can wreck very well the nect day while it's still dark.

Okay here is a riddle I heard a few years ago.

A woman drops her husband off at the train station for him to catch the 7:30 am train from Birmingham to London, she kissed him goodbye and went home. Later that day she was watching a TV program and there was a report that the 7:30 am train from Birmingham to London had been bombed yet she did not panic at all. Why was she not afraid for her husband’s life?

Um, does it have something to do with 7.30 am and 7.30 pm?

Oh no I knew I was missing something sorry about that, the answer is not meant to be anything to do with that, that was my own little error. buck I am so sorry, well thank you for noticing that you are better at this than me. Well you can still take another look, see if you can spot what is meant to be the proper answer this time. rolleyes
