I was hoping to maybe do an entry on an individual, non contemporary, perhaps 200-300 years old, that was famous for his works.  I would like him to be someone akin to Leonardo Da Vinci.  Most of his "inventions" etc could just be ideas that were never put into practice. (like Leo's helicopter plans).  Mechanical things need not be the limit of his "talents", like Leo himself.

I have ideas that I like, but don't think that they should/could be developed into the world as such.  So, as a compromise, maybe some half-baked plans by this man could be included in his entry.  My example for this is I've been exploring Johann Gutenberg, and don't think that a printing press would be good for Santharia (unless one has been made, lol, I haven't researched the site for one), however, he could have been known for experimenting with a wine press.  It either failed, or was ignored, or even banned, so the idea died with him.

As I come up with other ideas, we could integrate them into the entry.  This could be an ongoing thing.

Any ideas??

Hello Artario! I had in mind a person (supposed to be one of Emperor Dearan's close friends) modelled after Leonardo da Vinci (or rather more precisely: modeled after da Vinci's thought processes ;) ). Quallion's "Dagen the Architect" I reserved was meant to portray that Nybelmarian Leonardo's first "teacher"/mentor.

I think the origins of a printing press for Santharia is a marvelous idea! Afterall I always thought the Compendium had one (I think Talia - or was it Judith?- had some ideas in this regard. Maybe it would be best to contact them as well?)

Good luck!

According to the Brownie overview, the Vale Brownies have Leonardo da Vinci-esque technology.

A lot of things in the Brownie overview need revision by our current standards.  I wouldn't lean too heavily on any cross-referencing there... on the other hand, there is no reason they SHOULDN'T have that level of development even if they don't have specific implements and machines that are derived from Vincian inventions.   The brownie elevator, for example, is weight-driven and perfectly feasible.  A few dwarven clans have carefully-guarded things like orecart winches and tracks, and we discussed evaporative 'air conditioning' a year or so ago!

I suppose...though I would prefer to keep him human.  Call me racist, but I prefer to work with humans.   huh  I don't know much about the other races, and have never really been interested in them.  (Although, Liv Tyler did make an elf I would like to get to know better cool)

Wasn't there something about that prining press in the works? Indeed I also remember Judy and Talia in this context.

There's at least a thread by Talia, here.

But yes, a famous daVinci-esque human inventor would indeed be fun to have, agree here!
