Common Synf , Saltwater in Southern Sarvonia, Water Creatures, Mollusks & Others

Basic Overview of the Beast

As one would expect when swimming in the deeper parts of any body of water, there are usually many creatures lurking near, or under them.  The Common Synf is one of those creatures, living in many of the seas and oceans near Southern Sarvonia.  They have only been, however, recently discovered by a group of sailors ,whom were getting information from fishing areas from the Merfolk, that gave them instructions to fish deeply in the Burning Sea.  Several of these creatures were caught and "given" to an un-named research group, dead of course.  However a few years later, live specimen's were caught and studied in an isolated area.  .  Male and female Synfs are told apart by the size of their heads, the male Synf has the larger head, supposedly to attract mates.

The Common Synf is believed to be related to the Kraken in some way, as it bears its likeness with 8 appendages and a fleshy head, however, the Snyf is much smaller, and no suckers are attached to the Synf's tentacles. The Common Synf comes in a large variety of colors though while a majority of the specimens collected were a darker shade of magenta, the Synf's colors can range anywhere from crimson to bright crimson to a few lighter shades of pink .  If one were to feel the skin of the Common Synf, it would feel slimy to the touch and there would most defiantly be slime on the toucher's hands afterwards.   Sizes of the Common Synf can be anywere from one fore to one ped long, but the weight of the Synf is irrelevant to the size of the creature, as a Synf one fore long weighs a mere od.  The eyes of the Common Synf stay the same size throughout its life, one palmspan around, as the eyes of the Synf are round.  The mouth of the Common Synf is a small hole positioned at the bottom of the Synf's head in the center  Also, there were three slits on five of the tentacles of every Synf surveyed, and have theorised that these slits are gills.
Special Abilities
The only special abilities of the Common Synf is its ability to have its head stay buried under any sand at the bottom of  most oceans and seas of Southern Sarvonia.

The Common Synf lives in many of the seas and oceans near Southern Sarvonia, specimens have been collected in The Burning Sea, The Adanian Sea, The Aelyvlian Sea, and The Gulf of Maraya.  There has only been one case of a Synf being found farther north then this, in the Haven of Sky.  As this Synf was dead, it is believed that Synfs must live in warmer waters.

The Common Synf lives in the warmer waters of Southern Sarvonia, however, the Synf seems to prefer the southern areas of The Aelyvlian Sea.  It seems most of the Synfs observed travel in groups anywhere from three to twenty.  To catch there prey, the Common Synf burrows its head into the sand at the bottom of any sea it happens to be in.  As the Synf's tentacles float up from under the sand, any fish that get close is snagged and pushed through the sand to the Synf's mouth.
The Common Synf eats many of the fish, and spends most of the day hunting.  As fish swim by, it seems that there are only certain fish the Synf will catch including, but not limited to: Barsa, Bonehead, and Evoor.  The smaller Synfs that cannot reach there tentacles far out, catch crabs and smaller fish.

The Common Synf mates during the winter months, spawning during spring, and though there are few accounts of Synfs breeding, it is believed they do so once a year.  The mating process consists of the female Synf latching onto the male Synf's head and squeezing it tightly.  After about three months, the Female Synf burroughs under the sand and lays an egg through it's mouth under the sand.  The parental Synfs leave the egg, and so the baby Synf is alone from hatching.

The only useable part of the Common Synf is its tentacles, these can be cooked and eaten.  The taste of the tentacles taste however, is bitter.
