Overview
The Rhár, (Styrásh: 'salamander') also known as the Salamander, is an unusual animal unlike any other.  Thought it looks like a lizard its similarities end there.  There are four species of the Salamander, the Air Salamander (Avárhár), the Fire Salamander (Eférhár), the Water Salamaner (Márhár) and the Earth Salamander (Módrhár).  It is thought by the elves that these separate species relate to the four elements, and so they earned their name.  They are known to be

Appearance
Avárhár (Air Salamander)
Its name was thought to have derived from Avá, high elven goddess, due to their association with air, and that they live in elven forests, but it is actually derived from the Styrásh word for wind, avásh.

Eférhár (Fire Salamander)
One of it's most unusual attributes is its lack of lungs.  It instead breaths through its firery coloured skin.  It is also able to regenerate its limbs and tail, if the need arises.

Márhár (Water Salamander)
Though all salamanders enjoy the damp, this is the only one to actually live in water.

Módrhár (Earth Salamander)
It lives mosts of its life underground, only coming out at night to feed, and to breed.
