I know you had a lot of issues with the elf side of this.

Just a quick note to let you know I think you've got this pretty spot on now....

However, the Ahrhim are not a large tribe so 100 is probably a little high. But you've tempered it with not more than, so its more of a quibble than anything else :)

Re Grunok's comments: I agree that it might be best to have two separate entries here. However what you have so far leans more towards the inhabitants rather than the natural environment. Perhaps it would be better to convert this into a regional overview (using the Regions/Kingdoms/States template) instead of a Place entry for the Mountains? (less work that way) Then you can write a second entry, following Grunok's excellent suggestions. :)

Thank you all so much for the comments, I very much appreciate it. And its looking like, yes, I should split this into two entries- the question is how. A Rimmerins Ring (Mountain Chain) entry and a Rimmerins Ring (Duchy) entry?

However, I will certainly be using the suggestions of both Coren and Grunok here. I just need to decide which entry should be my masterwork, or if I should write both of them, and submit them simultaneously. Thoughts?

P.S. Thank you very much Wren, I'm honored :) I'll half the Ahrim population in the Ring.

Well, as Grunok suggests, it would be great to have a comprehensive climate/fauna/flora/resources/history entry - darn useful to have all this in one place!  I have a list of plants I did for the Council Tree in my development schedule if you want it too - just a list of plants that would grow in mid-southern-sarvonian forests.  But I would just say do whichever you want to do more, because writing such a large entry will need all your motivation.

I did read through the Brownie section quickly.  Unfortunately I don't think Keekoo will really work for that legend, as he didn't live in the Brownie Vale, and he was trying to free the Brownie race from human oppression, so I don't imagine he'd have been that friendly to nearby tribes.  Also I don't think he's that well-known among humans.  Maybe Judy's Gebl the Unsated would be better?  He is known to humans, certainly to the Eyelians I would think, and there are so many legends about him that another would be quite likely.

Also, I thought the Compedium-writing was done at Lorehold, Lorehaven, not in New-Santhala....

The Compendium itself is in New Santhala, and as it contains dormitories, scholars' rooms, cubbies, study carrels, the huge library and research stacks, etc. etc.  Id assume a lot of writing and research takes place there as well.  Lorehaven is definitely another scholastic centre, but it sends (or at least shares) its results to the 'master' Compendium for compilation.

I fear I need to correct you, Judy. The place where all the action takes place is the Great Library (=Building) in New Santhala, the Compendium itself is a series of books, an encyclopedia, which contains (or should) not mainly books with an individual character, but everything written there should show a neutral, objective standard. Different viewpoints in different entries are not welcomed. (As Art pointed out to me in the Divine Magic submission, I hope I could explain it correctly) Maybe it is common use to call the building "Compendium" itself, as an change to Great Library, but that would be not very precise.

Hmmm, I have a different perspective on that.

True, 'the Compendium' is a collection of knowledge, similar to an encyclopedia.    But I do indeed use 'Compendium' as an alternate name for the PLACE, mostly because it is NOT only a Library.   There are, as you and I have discussed several times, and as has slowly been built up in various (equally unofficial but equally creative) role-playing events here on the Dev Boards, many other buildings associated with the 'Compendium' complex.

There is a cabinet of curiosities, like an early 'science museum' - a huge herb garden - possibly the Bestiary itself is located on the premises, with strange animals both live and taxidermied - dorms and kitchens and privies and all of the support and logistical facilities necessary for the many people who actually reside there...

Calling this 'The Great Library' would seriously limit the vision of what the place is - more of a huge academy where all types of media (not just the written or bound) can be found.  So yes, I would consider it common use to call the whole place 'The Compendium', as well as using that title for the accumulated knowledge.

We can certainly elicit other views on the matter, but to come back to the initial question, I do not believe that the MAIN amount of work/writing/research etc. is done at the Lorehold, but rather, is done in New Santhala, a much larger city with many more resources to support the researchers and scholars from across Sarvonia.  That is, of course, my personal opinion, and I'm sure other people would like to weigh in on the matter.

I'd just sort of assumed it was in Lorehold because of the Santhworld module, I don't think I got it from anywhere else.

What!

Coren promised me at least sub-standard luxury when I sailed over here, we'd be in the biggest and most populous metropolis in all of the continent- then I hear we're sent to go do our writing in this Lurhole? What's this all about!

I demand my Bestiary and I be situated in New Santhala angry!

Very well, then Master Deci, your bestiary can be in New-Santhala... or perhaps even a few strals out of it, in the mountains themselves! I smell a place entry coming on.....
In the meantime, thank you very much Rookie, I will change Keekoo to Grebl.
Do you think you could send me that list? I'm about to get started on flora and fauna. or perhaps I'll just use your entry as reference.... Well, just pm the list if you can, I'll work from there :)
Anyways, thanks for the slew of comments from those helping out, its appreciated. Karma for all!

Of course my main 'Zoo' could be in New Santhala...but I would have to have various outposts all-over the places as branches to a) capture beasts b) delegate researchers to get information from all over the continent(s)....There can be as many Bestiary branches as you like!

The list is in my development schedule Nsiki, just click on the link in my signature and scroll down a bit.  I don't know if it's completely up to date though as I did it a while ago.  And it's only forest animals of course ;).

That's all right, I've got a fairly comprehensive list of my own for the mountain flora/fauna. Thanks so much!

All right...
So, I'm going to go ahead and get this finished up, most likely barring history. Afterwords, I'll figure out the best way to split it up, and which would better serve as the Masterwork.
