While doing some research fo my own through the compendium I was directed towards these lovely fellows: The Daran Gnomes (by Avis) It was a delightful entry to read and I will be referencing back to them and using the information provided. At the same time though, while reading over the entry, and given its old creation date, it felt that the existing entry was missing some Spark & Lore. So after asking Arti, I'm giving this entry a quick polish:

[1] Touch up on Grammar and Sentence structure, with a focus on a Lore style and more flowing narrative

[2] Possibly extend and broaden some facts and details (If so, I will need help from gnome experts to make sure I don't ruin any of the fantastic detail)

"Daran" - Once an insult for gnomes who had abandoned their main tribes to live amongst humans the term has now lost its derogatory meaning and encompasses any gnome who lives amongst humans. Daran meant as much as “servant” or “pet”, for the more reserved gnomes had little faith in humans and still clung on to the idea that the gnomes who went to live amongst them would be treated as such. The reality though is quite different, for all over Santharia strong and successful bonds and coexistence between the two races have emerged and now flourish.

To generalise the description of the Daran gnome is a difficult task, for their variance from the standard Gnome depends greatly upon their environments, professions and degree of traditionalism. One could almost say there is little difference between a traditional Daran and a Gnorian gnome, apart from the territories in which they live. After all, both the Gnorians and the Daran come from the same original tribe: the simply called Gnomes (equivalent to the race).

The Daran gnome varies little form from the normal gnomes. They grow to anywhere between slightly less than a ped to one and a half peds. Their skin tone is very pale and given their small stature, they are not very muscular. Considering they live amongst humans, the Daran Gnomes mostly imitate the looks of the humans. That is why you will see many Daran Gnomes wearing beards, and even a distinct lack of baldness in comparison to their Gnorian brothers. Usually the Darans are very obliging and helpful people which has, amongst human common folk, earned them the nickname of “friendly dwarves”

Coat of Arms/Sign
The Daran do not have their own sign or coat of arms, but instead integrate and adapt to take on the coat of arms of the people whom they live amongst.

You will always be able to find a small number of Daran Gnomes in most Santharian cities, though some will contain larger gnomish populations than others, rangins from small guilds to entire communities. One of the larger towns is the Merchant Town of Cavthan, which has a vast population of Daran Gnomes networked into it.
