Hello. I have been lurking in the Compendium for many weeks and I just decided to make a account. I like your magic system and I think my favorite section is the Cosmology and Mythology section.

Why hello there, Aaron.

Welcome to the Dream! Please continue to explore the areas you're interested in. It's always a pleasure to have a new potential magical expert around. Just don't become a cleric. I get into argument with that lot too often. I don't like to argue.

Judy might bring you snacks, so stick around!

Thank you for the welcomes. Just one question the Newbie Pages didn't really clarify this. Is there any limit in which new members should post? I mean should I do little entries?

Well, since it seems I've just made a point of it, don't try to introduce say... an entirely new species to the entire world all at once. While that doesn't mean your entries can't be big, tribes are banned, and it's considered a good idea if you didn't stray all that far from the beaten path right from the get-go.
That being said, go wild. A short entry is every bit as important as a long one. Just make sure you do your homework.

Welcome from me too, Aaron. Here, have some cakes to eat.

A few warnings, don't stand between Valan and the door, don't go anywhere near the greenhouses and if Sylvia offers you a strange glowing mixture to drink, don't drink it. I made the mistake of drinking one of his mixtures, and my hair is still bright purple.

On to your questions ...

Yes, it is suggested that newer members start on smallish entries. Something like beasts or plants or even one of the items under 'Miscellaneous Stuff' such as games, weapons, foods, armour, artifacts, musical instruments. In most of the forums, there should be a list of things that aren't currently developed, but referenced in other entries ... the best thing to do, might be to look at those lists and see if you can choose one of them you'd like to do, and ask if it still needs to be done.

Then, once you get the go ahead, you can do the entry. I hope that helps, and I look forward to seeing what you bring to the dream.

(A woman sweeps in, full skirts raising a breeze and full arms laden with trays from which a number of savory aromas emanate....)

Ah, this is Aaron, is it?  (tries to curtsey and realizes she hasn't put the trays down yet)

Oh, dear, excuse me!  Welcome to the Great Hall of the Compendium - everyone shows up here sooner or later.  I'm Judith, Masterbard, commonly known as 'Bard' around here, but also the unofficial chatelaine while the Dame is being sought.....

(Her vivid green eyes flash a smile as she sets the food on a nearby trestle table)

These are everyone's favorite - dochnut and kao-kao cookies - and there are some hot tuberroot Timbers here.... and the pitcher has Thyron'cha'ah, which is a very nice calming tea, and I think this is Artiwine in the small blue bottle.    Do try some before the rest show up!

I must run, there are far too many parchments on my desk, but enjoy the food and company, and welcome yet again.

A dark cloaked figure strides through the hall, carrying several boxes.

Well, what do we have here? A new member? Excellent.

The figure gave a wicked smile. He notices Dek nearby and whispers to him harshly.

Stop scaring away al, my new guinea pi-I mean friends. They all either die or become frightened. Look at you! A little purple hair never hurt anyone!

The figure then pulled a vial from a box, and offered it to Aaron.

Go ahead. It's just some Brownie drink. He smiled crookedly.

Anyway, welcome! :) As you may have guessed, I'm the mad scientist of the group. If you ever desire to venture into mixtureville, feel free to ask me questions. Enjoy it here! And, don't drink that. You might regret it. And Dek, I'm watching you.
