Music Question

I have recently taken up the trombone and I don't belive I am good enough to do any work for the Dream. I am improving so maybe in a few months I might be good enough. But my real question is are trombones a suitable instrument for the dream.

Hi Aaron,

Not sure if you saw this thread or not, but it talks about music on the Sarvonian continent. There is mention of some brass instruments there.

Rather than making your proposed instrument a direct copy of the Terran Trombone, why not see if you can come up with a different way of achieving the same result ... a slightly crazy suggestion might be an instrument that consists of four or five different lengths of tubing, but with one mouthpiece (you'd have to change mouthpiece, of course

) ... depending on the valves/levers pushed, the air goes out through a different tube, producing a different sound.

If someone does give you the go ahead on creating an instrument along those lines, the place that you'd be making it would be in the Miscellaneous Forum, I believe.

The Music thread is in abeyance and hasn't been updated in a while - not putting a ban on new instruments or anything, but it's not a high priority atm. While you're very welcome to develop a new instrument, it would take a bit of work and research to create something that we don't already have (the Krumhorn, for example, has a trombone sound if not shape)

Also, you might want to focus on one thing at a time.

You seem to have posted in a wide area of threads, and the one piece you have put up as ready for comment is barely an outline by our standards... not to be discouraging, but I'd suggest going back to the Blackbeetle Paint and fleshing it out with interesting details you've invented, crossreferencing you've gotten from reading and research, and just plain MORE text. As it is, it's extremely barebones. I don't say that every entry needs ten pages

but it's very skimpy at the moment and I'm sure there's a lot more you could do to make it interesting.

So - why not work on that for now and show us what you're capable of?
