Hello Im Shin Velleheim

Aside from saying my greetings I wish to create a new fighting style that entails abit of magic....how would I go about creating something like that?

Welcome Shin to the dream

My name is Seeker, I spend much of my time seeking as it were. Basically I wander around Santharia discovering wonderful, fantastic, and quite often deadly things and places. Once I find them I draw them. Being a fire mage myself I must say that magic here in Santharia is quite complex, just read some of the magic development in the forum and you will see what I mean.

My suggestion is to get your feet wet on something less complicated than magic fighting. This will let us get to know you a bit (and vic versa), see you writing style and help you get used to the type of commentary you will get on your work. Once you have been around a little while then you can start suggesting fighting styles for magic.

Most newbies start by doing a simple plant, weapon, or beast. This of course is not meant to discourage you, in fact I think you will find yourself much less frustrated if you start off slowly.

Oh, and tell us more about yourself, I am curious who this Shin person....er elf...er brownie....... what are you exactly?

Nothing yet. My character is not yet created. What I will be however is a Monk/Assassin.

Also I have no particular interest in anything too complex to use. The magic I have in mind is simple enough to explain and to understand.

Sorry. Also I'm trying to set up my idea in the same format as the sanryu concept but I don't see anything template like that. Does this mean I have to create my own?

Hello and welcome, Shin!

As for a template: If there is no specific template, you can always look at a similar entry on site, and get the sections you need to cover from there.

On the magic fighting thingy in general: Why Seeker mentioned that this might be problematic has its reasons - magic isn't a simple process in Santharia/Caelereth, it works within limitations and isn't something anyone in the world can practice. So things really need to be thought through. If you're new to the site that could pose quite a challenge to convince others to get that to work if you just jump in trying to establish your own kind of magic - trust me, I know that from experience

Thats the thing. I'm not really trying to create a magic...more like a fighting form that involves magic...but more physical. It would be easier if I could explain it to other people. DO you know anyone?

Feel free to explain what you are thinking in the Miscellaneous forum, that is where fighting styles belong.

Not sure who it is exactly you want to explain it to. All you can do is post and if others are interested in what you are working on they will respond. The moderators of each forum along with Artimidor make the decisions on what is ready to be integrated. As a result many entries do not make it through the review process, others take quite a long time, depends on the length and complexity of the entry.

Sounds like you have a lot of ideas running around, that's is good, we love creativity. I hope you are doing alot of reading, because all those ideas will need to "fit".

I have been watching what has been going on in your other posts. If you find yourself needing any ideas please feel free to develop one of these weapons.

Weapons that need entries

If you choose one of these I can help you through the process so you can avoid some of the frustrations experienced by some newcomers to the site. For now I would suggest you take Valan's advice and avoid anything related to magic at first cry

. There is always time for that complicated stuff later.
