Here are the first sketches for the Gondolwen portraits I'm working on for Coren. This is version 2 (reworked first sketches), taking into account Coren's first comments.
First, the head and shoulders portrait, and second the full body + home interior. All suggestions and comments most welcome. The room in the second pic is still very much empty, the idea is to furnish it with lamps, plants etc a bit. So far just been focusing on the figure and the colors.

Super beginning.  Better than my end products.

If I knew even one iota of the Gondolwen, I might have suggestions for content.  So nothing but exuberant enthusiasm from me. :)

The same goes for me, Faugar.

I have to say, though, I really like the room as it is. Perhaps a very plain chair against the wall behind him?

The palette is excellent, too.

So where do we stand with this one? Has Coren provided any comments via mail, PM or something? We cannot really see from here how these first sketches were received...

Aura for our brilliant and talented artist.  Will somebody else also help me out to throw points at him, since it's completely unjust that he's languishing down so low on the scale?  Sometimes (coughs pointedly and looks around) older members who did a great deal of background work are overlooked if they aren't as active in contemporary discussion - which means that their aura points have little to no relevance on how influential or helpful they have been.

(determines to buy a new monitor asap - that is, when her next paycheck comes in....)

Most certainly +1 Aura.

Certainly Faugurs 200 + entries to my 50 entries shows this is the case.  (I didn't count Bard's list because I didn't want to embarrass her, but I will say it is mightily impressive.)

Yep, another aura +1 for Faugar from here as well! So he can't hide anymore that he catches up due to recent activity. :D - Note: As Faugar and Seeker are also working in the background providing pictures for the Nepris module, there are a bunch of drawings that haven't been posted on the Forum (and Faugar BTW has just finished another one of those!). So adding an aura every now and then for these contributions can be done without remorse :)

Faugar, thank you for your patience. It has been an exhausting two weeks, both academically/professionally and personally.

I know you said you would like to settle payment at the end. But, in light of how long I make you wait for comments, I would feel a lot more comfortable if I could make the payment, or at the very least a portion of it, now. (Should it be necessary further down the line, we can always adjust the price upwards at the end, to reflect the effort that has gone into the final version). I don't want you to feel as if you are doing all this work in vain and then have to wait in limbo for weeks.

Now, I suggest we split this thread to make it easier to comment. I'll open a new thread for each picture, and post the first versions of each, my comments (Round-1), Sketches V2, and my new comments.

Ditto from me what Alt said.  grin I do like when Nybelmar tribes get some illustrations. We don't want to forget them up there!

No, I would not want to live in a world without dragons, as I would not want to live in a world without magic, for that is a world without mystery, and that is a world without faith. And that, I fear, for any reasoning, conscious being, would be the cruelest trick of all.
