And here already comes the next Judy picture! I present you the Eur'Oak, going with the entry in the Herbarium!

Well, I think it's just fine as it is. It looks like an entity of its own, standing there for dozens, even hundreds of year, and I'm sure that tree has lots of stories to tell if he could only talk... :D It's interesting to see the picture in monster size which Judy sent me, where the details are somewhat rough looking. But then when you look at the picture in smaller sizes the textures and details (bork, eaves) have exactly the effect they're supposed to convey - very cool! There's even your elk you did quite a while ago in then background... *hehe* Well, what can I say: Applause from here! clap Now don't forget to do the final touches on the entry itself if there's still something to do there, so that we have it all ready to go next time!

Aura +1, wonderful job, Judy! Great to see that you and your new monitor make such a good team again, delighting us regularly once again with splendid artwork!  grin

That is a lovely tree. Alysse is right. It's somewhat like the Whomping Willow. =D Can you imagine seeing that, leafless, in silhouette at midnight, though? How scary would that be... :0

Well, I think it's just fine as it is. It looks like an entity of its own, standing there for dozens, even hundreds of year, and I'm sure that tree has lots of stories to tell if he could only talk...

I bet you $10 that in a few hundred years, whoever's running this place will be like, "THIS ARTICLE NEEDS UPDATING. IT IS DATED MATERIAL." (because they'll probably be a robot; they will be the site, in fact) Someone will come along and, because it's the future, will be all like, "Hah! A tree that doesn't talk? They must be dreaming." </pun>

That is a lovely picture indeed. The elk gives a hint how big it really is!

It reminds me a bit at the now dieing Bavarian Beech (see the pic farther down)

Judy said that she was using the Major Oak as a reference yes? (The Major Oak, for the record, is a tree in Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire. Yes. That Sherwood and Yes. That Nottingham.) I heartilly approve!

So in a hundred years the site will be run by robots dreaming of a fantasy world humans have dreamed up? Well, it's all the dream of Avá, isn't it? The dream in the dream in the dream... :)

It'll be a sentient robot (like whatsherface from I, Robot...). Except it'll just be a big hard drive with all the files and FTP software, and its AI will be an amalgation of your mind, my mind (I'll be the next Webmaster, you see. It has been written by me, just now), and, like, the Iron Chef, because he's an alright guy.

And, of course, the developers will be psychic telepaths, as will the trees of the future, which is why they can talk.

Marvelous!  No, I didn't; but I faced the same problem of trying to suggest scale in the picture - especially since I only had the one tree shown!  The deer served the same purpose of establishing the perspective and proportion for me as for the photographer.  :)
