Red ghouls are a rare creature, due to them being constantly hunted by other races, and the fact that the female lays at most three eggs in her life span. Red Ghouls are viewed as an unnatural monster, when in reality they are a simple beast. A deadly beast, however, as they live upon the blood of other creatures, and attempt to get as much as they can.

History: Red Ghouls were hunted to near extinction, nobody knows quite when, but it seems that it was in a time before written history.

Appearance: The average Red Ghoul is about a Ped in height, and walks hunched so that they seem even smaller. They have two human-like arms, but the fingers turn into claws about midway through. Their feet are almost normal except for short talons on the ends. Their skin looks almost human, but seems rotted. This is only an illusion, coming from the little flakes of skin that naturally flake off of the Red Ghoul, and the darkish tint that some skin acquires. Red ghouls have no faces, except for a mouth, around which there is often dried blood, hence the name Red Ghoul. Red Ghoul children are about a nailsbredth in size, but they eventually grow through the extraction of blood from small creatures such as bats or rodents. It is also possible to have huge bloated Red Ghouls, some of which actually grow extra limbs.

Habits: Red Ghouls never stop growing. They just keep eating and getting larger. Their body does not age like ours, the only form of natural death is when they grow to big to get enough sustenance and starve. It is not too uncommon to find a large Red Ghoul carcass in the deep forests. Red Ghouls technically never eat, they merely extract blood by slicing their victims with their claws and sucking all the life from them through one of the wounds.

P.S. Please tell me if you want me to add anything else. This idea sort of came off the fly.

Hello and welcome, Morcac! wave

I see you want to jump right in and get something up on the site, but there are a bunch of things to consider here. Santharia/Caelereth is a world where things need to fit together, have a reasonable background that explain them, animals and plants are part of an ecosystem. Because of such reasons you can't e.g. put a huge carnivorous dinosaur-like creature in the middle of a well developed kingdom because people just wouldn't settle there etc.

So, similar things apply regarding this particular idea: If nobody really knows anything about them, then why would there be an entry? It should be clear where these creatures come from or supposedly come from (vile magical experiments? how do they reproduce?), how many there are supposed to be (just a few? linked to certain locations= or more, for what reason?), where they actually are supposed to exist (are they mythical? seen only at special doomed places? are they supposed to actually exist hidden from the eyes of others? are there researchers?). Things like that. So far the idea is still very sketchy and needs to be made much clearer and not as absolute as it is written. For example you say that they "never stop growing". Well, that's a bit simple and unexplained, especially because you say as well that they are only a ped in height. Always make sure that what you develop also has its weaknesses and that it is embedded in the world and has a context. Oh, and finally: Make sure to follow the Bestiary template with all the various sections.

Also: General question: What exactly is a ghoul? Because you deal with the red ghoul here, so is it a special version of a ghoul? At any rate this would be something to delve into, perhaps even as another entry.

I think the idea could work, but there are too many unknowns and generalizations in the current concept. But stick with it, try to iron out the problems I've mentioned, and we'll get some steps closer to having a place for these nasty creatures somewhere, Morcac!

P.S. Speaking about ghastly creatures - if anyone would like to work on a lich entry, we could use that one, as we've got a nice picture for it which still isn't integrated as of yet!

Morcac, it is great to see fresh newbies excited to develop.  :D  Art provides good guidance.  Try reading through a few of the demon entries in the Bestiary and you will get an idea of what he is guiding you towards.

I look ofrward to seeing this developed further.  A ghoul could be very interesting.

Every entry deserves a picture.   -Seeker
