General note: I'm currently having major troubles with the dratted thing called computer as it refuses to start and if so, I only got some minutes left before it goes dark again. So I'm still trying to locate the problem, so unfortunately there's no time to do some development stuff. The situation may take a while to get under control - just to keep you updated.

Try to enter your boot and reboot it again on the primary boot... Sometimes that happened to me... Helped when I reselectecd the primary boot... Another option would be to get a linux version on a removable disc and boot your pc from there until you find the problem

Well, this computer steadfastly refuses to be threatened unfortunately. :(

Also it's not that simple to deliver a remote diagnosis I fear, Perab... For one there's only one boot constellation, and the trouble is that I don't get as far as the BIOS configuration where I could adjust some things, despite the computer is running, and so I cannot see a thing on the monitor. That is, most of the time. The trouble seems to be graphic card related, probably with the power supply, as removing the card and plugging it in again helps (at least so I found out) to make it start up. When I don't overly stress the whole thing then it seems to last, but a graphic intense game brings the system down after 10 minutes or so and then it's definitely game over for a while. So it definitely is graphic cards related I'd say.

Ha! It seems that you now have the same problem that I had when we both bought our computer from the same reseller. They can achieve those low prices for their fast hardware by massively overclocking them. Whenever I tried to play a 3D game, the computer shut down after 1-5 Minutes. The components definitely couldn't handle the speed.

You can try for now to slow down the cpu and graphic card clock speed in the bios and check if all fans are running correctly. But of course, overclocking = lesser durability of the hardware

As for the overclocking: I saw an "overclocking failed" message when it still briefly worked on Sunday, and the next time I entered BIOS I changed the overclocking from "Manual" to "Automatic". The message disappeared, but overall the problem was unchanged.

And at the moment the computer cannot be convinced to start anymore. We'll try to find out more tomorrow with a detailed check, maybe it's mainly the power supply still. And then I probably have to decide whether to repair it or get a new one. I already got a new video card, but this didn't help, but at least I got a new shiny one in case we can fix the initial problem. And in case the old video card is still working I can use it in my older computer at my parents.

Be it as it may, at the moment my hands are tied and I can only post from the office - will still last a couple of days before I'm officially back in business.

Try to plug off the power adapter for some minutes and see if it at least gives some life signs again. My assumption is the bios battery which is very cheap to buy actually. Some Mainboards only lose the bios settings if the battery is low but others refuse to start altogether. And you kinda described a degenerative scenario that made me sensitive in that direction. I would give a new battery a try. You can find one at DiTech http://www.ditech.at/liste/53709760/Zubehoer__Multimedia_Batterien_und_Akkus_Knopfzellen.html. I don't know if any fits your mainboard, so you have to look it up to see what it needs. But it's a cheap try!

Edit: "CR 2032" fits most of the computers btw.

Actually I did that yesterday, but it wasn't successful. Same thing with the "mysterious unplug the computer and press the on-button for a minute", which some have described as the ultimate solution. :(

Oh, you already replaced your battery with a new one? Would help if you say what you already did, hehe. After you unplug it you have to plug it in after a while of course ;) Can help with defective contact. But well, can be the power adapter of your computer or the mainboard that doesn't get any power anymore if no fan turns on atleast. Doesn't sound too good then.

Well, I only removed it and put it in again after half an hour or so. And yeah, believe it or not, I also plugged it it :D Anyway, we'll check the power in detail tomorrow, then we'll know more hopefully.

Computer has decided to work right now a bit, but expecting the next crash or another failure of reboot... I try not to stress it too much at the moment, but let's see how long it will last...
