I have a couple of questions concerning the Krath empire, mainly their political system. First of all I would like to know what races are part of this empire. I know that the krean are but are the Zhun? Also what land does the empire cover as on the political nybelmarian map the krath empire is unmarked.

Concerning the political system how does their 'parliament' or 'council' work? Is it a huge meeting of politicians in a great large hall? Are their opposing political parties? Is there a hierachy of krath politicians? Are the legislations decided by the council or are they just debated after being ordered by the Krathazar? Is the Krath empire even a democracy?

So many questions, so few answers....

Coren knows best what exactly is he doing there, so I cannot answer on your questions about the political system (you might want to rummage through the forums for his posts, but I don't know which of that stuff he's keeping and which not).

However, let me try some answers.

First, they are all humans, different tribes, but all humans. Second, I think I can say that they're definitely not a "democracy" - if you're looking for something like that, the only republic on Nybelmar is Anis-Anpagan (east, south-central actually, but we consider it part of the east). Third, they cover the westernmost peninsula (and before the Year of Darkness they also settled in the current desert of Zhun - north of the actual Zhun, and was not a desert at that time).

That's about it so far, Coren has to come up with the rest of the timeline up to the Year of Darkness. What I can also tell you is that the current Zhun is actually a combination of Krean and Anpagans (due to a massive "flood" of Anpagan colonizers and refugees at some point before the Year of Darkness).

The west is fairly undeveloped, and probably that's why it seems easier to work with, yet that is the same reason for which sometimes is so hard :)

...from the developers' point of view. (meaning us, those who write these things)

I can't get online often for the next two weeks, but this is a link you might wish to read. That's an overview I'm writing for the Krath Empire. The maps, location and desciption sections should cover your questions about the boundaries. See 'State Organization' for the political structure. A more detailed entry on Krath government will follow within the next month. Hope that helps :)

Oh btw, Smith, the ruling principle of the Krean "kingdom" is also democracy. I forgot to mention this in the tribe enry but their "High King" and "High Queen" are both elected and rule with the help of a council. More details in the people entry for Krean High Queen Aeralv

I wouldn't call that "democracy".

No, somewhat like the UK that is - in principle - democracy. What you wouldn't call it is a "republic" ;)

Yeah, so were the soviets a "democracy". Don't get me started on that, let's keep it santharian.

I have no problem with keeping the discussion Santharian but don't you think it a little odd that I wouldn't know how my own tribe was ruled? I am sure once the political structure entry for the Twin Kingdom is written things will become clearer. In the meantime, however, do take my word on the Krean having a democratic political system. The High King/Queen is only a "king/queen" in name. They function somewhat like the 'President' in the US or France: They have to be elected by the councils and they cannot totally ignore the will of the councils.
