Idea to live up the RP forum

Though the idea isn't original and can be found at Nexus City, I still find it intriguing to try out here.

The idea is, to built a city in RP form, a forum per city district, a thread for every house/room in the district. The city is inhabited by us, the players and will have a strong form of hierarchy. The background could be any of the Santharian cities, although I recommend choosing a city which can be a colourful background for all sorts of races, professions and events (For example a trade port like Milkengrad or Strata).

To set this up would of course require strong cooperation between the citizens and afterwards the participation in this RP experience. At home I use a fairly simple RP system that can be used and learned by everybody without the detailed of e.g. D&D: it's mainly based on improvising.

If people say, we don't have time for this, for it will require time, then it can be put on the list of future ideas. If you say "we don't like the idea", I'm just suggesting

Its an idea, but personally I'm in vavor of ditching th RP board entirely. Perhaps once our world is a little more subsatncial(read: once I have an entry for all the R'unorian empresses and dieties, there festavils(feastivels will be one big entry with a sort of chart thing), and we have all the contenants drawn and texted, and have put a cap on any new land mass) then we might work out a more structured RP form similar, but not identical, to DnD that could be upgraded as the owrld expands.(if and when that happens I would like to be on the team for it)

I think that the idea in general is a good one, Gean. In fact I have even talked to Koldar quite a while ago to use the upcoming detailed map of Nyermersys for a role playing scenario when the Milkengrad quest is finished.

However, this unfortunately will not happen. I have spoken about removing the RPG board completely and the tremendous amount of action taking place there currently *yawn* confirms that it is time to take it down. I will do this next update, I guess. I also think that the role playing games taking place at the RPG Forum weren't that bad, but there are too few people there at the moment - for ANY kind of role playing games. Role Playing games can only work (that's my personal point of view) if we have a webmaster for all things RPGing and his name is NOT Artimidor.

A big problem of the RPG-board is also that people from all over the world are playing there, so users are online at different times. Some RPGs at the web are much more funny when people play the game at the same time, always checking back for new posts and always meeting at a more or less appointed time. We have too few role players, so this problem is a big one because of this.

However, the city-thing sounds fine. And when I take a look at the Nexus-site I can see that our Nyermersys map concept already heads into this direction (even the map parts at Nexus are very similar done, but Koldar's maps of course look much cooler...). Well, Koldar's map is nearing it's finishing, so we sooner or later have a very elaborated town here in Santharia, which is a good thing for the site in general and potential role players. But what will be done with the map regarding role playing - only the stars know, and - maybe - the future Santharian Gamemaster...

I must agree with you that RPing is no fun without any people playing. *sigh* ok I'll put the idea in the fridge, it'll hopefully be thawed within the (near) future.

I'll see if I can create a similar description to Strata like Koldar did for Nyermersys(I won't even try to spell it right

), maybe with a townmap if I can "really" brush up my Photoshop skill, which is non-existing at the moment. We'll see, we'll see...
