ok, it's so long ago I forgot it's name, but here's a skech I made quite a while ago and worked on for a bit today - let me know what you think, and what suggestions you have for it, ok?
I was thinking about a background but I didn't come up with anything spectacular sofar - so any ideas? maybe an evening mountain/woood scenery?

oh - Iforgot to mention - I was planning to work on the horse's anatomy (it would be my first real drawing with a horse in it, so I have no experience in that area of course.. ;)  )

I think It looks great, fantastic, the horse's name should be called Colossus. Is that Koldar's horse? A fiting horse for a knight of the moonlight.

With deepest regards,Capher

Hey, wonderful pic, Faugar (as usual *hehe*)! Can't wait to see the final version...

I guess the horse's anatomy is pretty fine. The head of the animal may be a bit too large, but on the other hand that's because of the perspective, I guess, adding a somewhat "colossal" touch to the pic, which Capher already mentioned.

As for a background: Don't know exactly what/who the picture represents in fact (as it differs somewhat from Koldar's pic we already have, so I assume it is not Koldar himself). But when I first saw it I though a bit about the "Sleepy Hollow" movie and I would see the knight in front of a darkening sky with a moon on it, trees in the background, leaves falling etc.

agree about the head - it's kind of 'wide angle lens' look but the head could be a bit smaller.
it's not Koldar, it's the rider pic I promised a while ago.
and yes, Sleepy Hollow look would be awesome (great movie by the way).

Uh, it's cool! The Knight is already very cool, his equipment right the way I imagined it. The horse's body is already good, too. I think only the head needs rework but you knew that already.

Few suggestions on more details (Please don't beat me!;) ) The horse should've some kind of breastplate (don't know how it is called) and eventually some kind of armor or at least cloth on the back. The later might be not neccessary, esspecially when it is too much rework...

The knight is currently pretty dark. While that fits to him as a person I thought that his armor would be decorated with gold (along the edges, simple ornaments)and such making him look more proud and noble.

For the background/location.
I'd imagine him on a stony plateau overseeing a large, green plain fading towards the horizon. Mountains would fit along the horizon, too.

The rest is up to you! ;)

BTW: If you need pictures of Horse armor or similar I might look through my books if I find some fitting illustrations/photos.

PS: Damn! I'm currently trying to catch up with dozens of CoA I've to do and now you're reminding me of Nybelmar and its unfinished history and map!!

sounds good, Koldar. if you can find some pics of horse armor - scan & email them to me if you will, if you can't  - I know what you mean, and maybe will find some reference on my own.

Little Known Medieval Trivia:

Did you know one name for 'horse armour' was 'barding'?

(blows kiss to Faugar) Amazing pic btw, and the horse head may be too large, but it's still very well evoked and three dimensional!

Ummm.... my pitifulness has a request... could one of you fantastic artists fit in a pic of either (1) a snake-ish thingie with an aura of some kind, or (2) one of the Psyrpents as described by me? Pleezy-weezy? Grovel? Pie?
Absolutely amazing drawing, Faugar. I see roughly the same background as Art, but Koldar commisioned it, his call.

will have to read your psyrpents story, but why would you want it in this pic? why not a pic of it's own?
p.s. agree with ya on the background tho ;)

I believe what he meant was 'fit in' as in 'fit in to our extremely busy schedules', oh great Faugar...

not 'fit in' to the cool pic for our noble Koldar....

(giggles quietly to herself)

The Great Pyserpent intrigues me, so I'll have a go at it... now that my work's been posted, none of you can claim you didn't know what you were getting when you asked!  Of course, you still don't have to use it when you get it.  Art is never wasted.

Er...that's art as in artistic drawing stuff, not as in our great sage.  For all I know he's frequently wasted!

(goes off giggling to herself again)

Yeah, poor, poor rider! He'll probably be attacked soon by a mean Pyserpent and he only wanted to ride out a little on this plateau of his, regarding the landscape - and now this... Oh noooo!!!
