Recently, a friend of mine has posted a character on Santharia who was..... well..... not even a bit in tune with Santharia.  Thats my fault, at the time I had told him of the website, I did not have time to inform him of the way the site ran.  I apologize for that.  While helping him remake his character, he decided he wanted to be a Water Elemental.  It was shot down, as many people said "There are no water elementals".  In retrospect to that, I ask a very important question.

Can I make them?

Either as a race, or just as magic spells.  Elementals are no different than zombies and such.  Beings given unnatural life by a powerful wizard.  Now of course they are not immortal.  That would require the wizard to be too powerful than allowed.  But that doesn't mean they can't be given a mind, a conscience, a life.  I would really like to see my friend be able to continue with his character, as the history has had a lot of time spent in making it, and making it conform to most Santharian rules.

Some feedback please.

Ah. This is Hydro-Enignma, is it not?

Anyway. It's not my place to say.

No, this is not Hydroenigma.  I am his friend.  I've been on Santharia for quite awhile, I'm the one who introduced him to it.

Making an own entry on Water Elementals sure is possible - why not? You only need to do it thorougly and without contradicting Santharian ideas in general. Take the bestiary scheme for reference on how to design such a "beast"(see Bestiary Forum) and give it a try:)

BTW: Elementals aren't really an own race, simply magical creatures similar to golems, but usually drawn from other realities as far as I know (golems are constructed from elements, which is different).

BTW2: Working on elemental spells of course would also be appreciated in this respect (see Spells scheme in the Magic forum).

Well, is a water Element then differing from a Water Golem at all other than by name? Do not know about this other sphere thing. Just a general question...

Would be a Water Elemntar then more like a demon of some kind?

Yup, some sort off, Koldar! I looked it up in the Rolemasters Bestiary: While golems are artificial beings (e.g. constructed from stone with very little intelligence, only following their creators instructions), elementals are similar and "have to be summoned from an essential force (e.g. a campfire fir a Fire Elemental), consistent wither their composition and exist only as long as their summoner concentrates" (=weak elementals). "Strong Elementals do not exist normally upon mortal dimensions, but rather are Elemental spirits drawn from purer, more distilled planes of reality to take form from a substance of its particular essence. As such, they must emply constant movement while existing here in order to maintain a shape. Their spirit lodges in a focus which, like the ice in the center of a snowball, becomes the core or 'heart' of the creature. Gathered material swirls around this focus, increasing in speed whenever the Elemental hastens its pace or assumes a more compact form" (Rolemasters, Creatures & Monsters, p. 79).

Thanks Artimidor, I'll get right on it.  And don't worry, I am a very thorough person.  It might take me a day or two though, in the middle of senior exams and busy with other things.  Should have prelimanary post up by this weekend.

Then! We can have your water elemental! However, he'd be quite hard to RP... right guys?

Nah, I'm pretty sure once my friend gets himself situated into the Santharian world and its ways and whatnot, he'll work out just fine.  He's not new to the idea of J.R.R Tolkien and his universe, and he's definitely not new to the idea of various forms of role-playing games.  Just the post-based form, thats all.  Plus he'll have me to help, and the talented squad at this website.

I'm just thinking... I mean, if it's an elemental creature, he'll be empty and solemn and creepy... I don't see anyone wantong to make friends with a thing like that, though he'd make a good ally...

See... there's a difference between a good Character ( say for movies or anime or somethimg) and a good RP character... Your friend has a good Character,  but I think it will be difficult to translate it to RP.

That's all.
