Ooooops!... I forgot to point the player to the tavern to look for Tendrim :o  (I just took another short look at the quests overview thread...). So here are the lines:

when the answer 4.2 is triggered besides the question 4.2.1 (already written) there should be another one:

4.2.2 Where exactly can I find Tendrim Kahlof?

[which triggers this answer]

-4.2.2-
Innkeeper: He grins. "Try the tavern... Yeah, always the tavern... Don't stay too long there though, I would hate to see such a fine character like you suffer from such poor quality services..."

4.2.2.1 "Poor quality services"?
4.2.2.2 Thank you, I'll go look for him there. [Exit to main questions]

-4.2.2.1-
Innkeeper: "Oh yes, sure, like Peppe would actually know how to run a true business... When I see fellows like him, bragging about 'cheap and good' I really want to leave this place, never to return. Listen to me kid, you seem like a nice #ma#, never accept something of low quality because of the cheap price. It spoils you. Does no good. We are not brutes, after all, don't you think?" He takes a short smoke from the pipe. "Yes... respect... I'm telling you, people don't show anymore the same respect like they used to... Hehe... back in the old days..."

4.2.2.1.1 Is the tavern that bad?
4.2.2.1.2 Oh, I see your point. Thanks for warning me. [exit to main questions]

-4.2.2.1.1-
Innkeeper: "You know, once, the tavern was the Inn's business. And I'm telling you, you wouldn't have heard a soul complaining about services back then... See how clean this place is? Now go take a look at that 'establishment'... what do you know... 'Saltwillow Tavern'... Hah!" He stops, staring persistently to the portrait hanging on the wall.

_________

Well, that's about it... I added this little thing with the tavern owner just for show. The tavern owner doesn't need necessarily to continue this story, though it could be an idea.

Ok, I'll add it in. Thanks, Smith:)

Currently I'm integrating some more rooms (mainly of Judy's work), though, as I've promised Humangus to get some things done for this week's package for the LT game, which won't give him a headache... And the more rooms are walkable, the easier more of our NPCs can be reached.

So the innkeeper is on my list, don't worry, it only needs quite a bit of time from my side as well to check it in detail;)

Ok, here's the dialogue I've already prepared for integration into the game... Some comments will follow later... As usual, Smith did an excellent job preparing this dialogue! :clap  If you have ideas for more similar ones (e.g. the Tavern Owner to which your refer), feel free to make more, I'd be happy to prepare them:D  I'm a bit busy with the whole RPG board remaking, and last week was pretty stressed with doing more Nepris rooms, but it's always a pleasure to see such a thought-through dialogue - saves me a lot of work:D

---

Smoking Man: "Hello there, traveller, my name is Lisu Ibbon and I am the innkeeper. If you're looking for a place to stay you're in the right place, of course." He smiles. "And you're lucky too, we have two vacancies."

Artimidor: "I'm Artimidor. Well met!"

Smoking Man: The innkeeper nods. "Now what is it? Got lost? Looking for a room perhaps? Need information? Searching someone?"

Artimidor: "Why were you thinking that I am looking for a room?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Just a hunch." He blows the smoke from his pipe in your direction. "You wouldn't plan to sleep on the streets, right?"

Artimidor: "Can you tell me about the other travellers staying here?"

Lisu Ibbon: "There are just three of them, a dwarf and two men."

Artimidor: "Can you tell me something about the two men?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Well, one of them is a trader, Tendrim is his name, the other one is Llian Archim."

Artimidor: "Who is this Llian Archim?"

Lisu Ibbon: The innkeeper gives you a confused look. "You don't know who Llian Archim is? The famous historian, of course... He wrote a lot of good books, but it seems that you don't really like to visit the libraries, do you? Nah, it's all right, I told him that he must deal with the idea that young people today are not how we used to be..." He sighs. "Yep, they just don't show any respect anymore... But Llian is a good man, and although you might not appreciate it, he still cares a lot about you, the young generations..."

Artimidor: "You seem to know Llian quite closely, don't you?"

Lisu Ibbon: He gives you a proud look. "Sure... from where do you think I got this fine pipeweed? Of course, I know him only since he came to Nepris, but you know... some people are just meant to be friends, I don't know if you ever got this feeling, you're a little young though..."

Artimidor: "You seem to be very fond of pipeweed..."

Lisu Ibbon: He contemplates the pipe for a while surrounded in a bluish haze. "Yes, I'm telling you man, you won't find such a fine blend in all the Sarvonian continent... Can't you smell it? Such a perfume... Wait, let me see... it came in a fine leather cloth..." He produces a small leather sack and starts reading whatever is written on it. "'Finest blend...' hmmmm... blah, blah... Moon Hills pipeweed... hmmm, yes... 'Anpagan perfumeries'. See? Moon Hills pipeweed blended with special Anpagan perfume! Superb, superb..." He takes another demonstrative sip.

Artimidor: "Moon Hills? Anpagan?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Uh... Llian told me he got this pipeweed from Nybelmar."

Artimidor: "Where exactly can I find Tendrim Kahlof?"

Lisu Ibbon: The innkeeper grins. "Try the tavern... Yeah, always the tavern... Don't stay too long there though, I would hate to see such a fine character like you suffer from such poor quality services..."

Artimidor: "What do you mean with poor quality services at the tavern?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Oh yes, sure, like Peppe would actually know how to run a true business... When I see fellows like him, bragging about 'cheap and good' I really want to leave this place, never to return. Listen to me kid, you seem like a nice man, never accept something of low quality because of the cheap price. It spoils you. Does no good. We are not brutes, after all, don't you think?" He takes a short smoke from the pipe. "Yes... respect... I'm telling you, people don't show anymore the same respect like they used to... Hehe... back in the old days..."

Artimidor: "Is the tavern that bad?"

Lisu Ibbon: "You know, once, the tavern was the Inn's business. And I'm telling you, you wouldn't have heard a soul complaining about services back then... See how clean this place is? Now go take a look at that 'establishment'... what do you know... 'Saltwillow Tavern'... Hah!" He stops, staring persistently to the portrait hanging on the wall.

Artimidor: "Can you tell me something about that dwarf?"

Lisu Ibbon: "His name is Dhren Rockfaith and he is a dwarven priest. I don't really know what is he doing here, it might have something to do with that trader though... You can find 'Mister' Dhren in the tavern, that's for sure, buy him a few rounds and he'll tell you everything, that's another thing for sure..." He smiles, taking another sip from the pipe.

Artimidor: "Can I see the records, please?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Sure, you know, everybody can just walk in and ask me for the records. What do you think?"

Artimidor: "Well, it's not that important that I can see the records. Was just a  simple question."

Lisu Ibbon: "No records for you then, traveller. Of course with a little money I might give it a re-think."

Artimidor: "I changed my mind. I'd still like to see the records."

Lisu Ibbon: "Sure, you know, everybody can just walk in and ask me for the records. What do you think?"

Artimidor: "I think that the priceless things are very rare... - How much would you charge?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Now you're talking... 20 sans is a base price in these parts."

Artimidor: "Ok, I'll give you then 20 sans."

Lisu Ibbon: The innkeeper grabs the money and shows you the inn records.

After taking a closer look, you hand the book back to the innkeeper.

Artimidor: "I'm interested  in obtaining a room."

Lisu Ibbon: "Perfect. Well, we have two vacancies. You can have the room from the south or the one from the north. The southern one is a bit smaller than the other but it has a superb view of the sea. Could be a bit colder in there too... The one from the north doesn't have the same excellent view but is a bit larger and also quieter. Also I charge 20 sans for the south room and 15 sans for the north one. It's up to you, if you stay more than one week we will 'refresh' the contract when your current time expires. - What do you say?"

Artimidor: "Here are 20 sans, I'll take the south room."

Lisu Ibbon: The innkeeper grabs the money and gives you the key to the room. "You might want to sign the records now too." He hands you the inn records.

You sign the records book, then hand it back to the innkeeper. "Have a nice stay, Artimidor!" he adds. "You definitely made the better choice!"

Artimidor: "Who's that on the portrait on the wall there?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Well, that's Master Ibbon, of course. Ibbon Alnasray, the founder of this inn and my ancestor I might add..."

Artimidor: "Can you tell me more about Master Ibbon?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Well, he's founder of this inn. Of course, the building is different but the business is the same. He lived almost a thousand years ago and it's because of him that this village is still here." He takes another sip from his pipe. "He was an Aeruillian trader, from the southern continent, that's why he may not look to you like the other villagers. Anyway, he saw the magnificence of these places and so he decided to make a living on these shores. He was a wise and travelled man, so he helped the villagers a lot. He is in fact, the author of the trade deal with the Mitharim dwarves, so I guess we owe him a lot. The whole Kingdom of Santharia owes him a lot actually. Man I could tell you some stories about him..." He smiles, looking proudly at the portrait. "Did I mention he was my ancestor? Yes, he was, he married here with a local woman. I could only hope I am worthy of his legacy, but this inn rarely stays empty, you know..."

Artimidor: "Bye!"

Lisu Ibbon: "Bye!" you hear from within a blue cloud of smoke...

Ok, I'm glad you like my works ;)
Uhm... yes I guess the next in line should be the tavern owner (with that idea that came to me while writing the addition). So if you have things for that guy to say, tell me (bio, quest involvement, anything). In the meantime I'll try to think of something.

Ok... A few comments on the Innkeeper dialogue first, Smith: You really did it very well, not much to point out, as you have developed a good feeling on dialogue length and what can be said when etc. As usual, some things still appear a bit different in the final dialogue after my editing, mainly for game technical reasons. Should you have questions why I put something at another place or rewrote something etc., just let me know:)

Oh, and I see that you add questions each time anew, though you've mentioned them before. That's not necessary. Once a question is in the question pool (mentioned by you once), then it will automatically be displayed, if it hasn't been selected yet. So no need to mention a once posed question twice;)

Records Pic: Still need to do that one. I've made the portrait already and the Santharian shield on the wall (see other thread somewhere).

I already had a basic description of Judy for the inn, so I integrated this one, and will combine your description sketches to get the inn done.

I also thought about putting a book in the player's room(s), where you can read more about Master Ibbon.

Oh, and I've changed the name of Lisu to Ishvik to Lisu Ibbon, yup, that's much more appropriate:)

---

Ok, now to the Tavern Owner... Hmmm... I assume the Tavern Owner won't like our Innkeeper that much... ;)  So there's something to talk about...

In the tavern we also have a barmaid, for which we already have a picture BTW. So perhaps you should think about both these key personailities there in the tavern when you design the dialogue. You can make references to the barmaid and the other way round if you plan to do the the barmaid as well to round things up perhaps.

What I'd also like to have is a dog in the tavern and a bowl from where the dog eats some bones. There's a point in the game when the player needs to enter a house and a dog doesn't let him in, so he'll need to get some bones from the tavern owner. I think we could make a little quest out of this... E.g. the player gets into the tavern and asks if he could have some bones (only available if the dog problem has already been encountered). The tavern owner will tell you he'll give you some if you could do a little prank on the innkeeper (we'd need an idea here). Later the innkeeper (seeing that someone did a prank on him) can send you to the tavern owner to do a prank on him etc.

These are just some rough ideas for now of course:)

The new "additions" to the innkeeper dialogue were fine, actually a lot better this way, so I'll try to adapt my next dialogues accordingly ;)

A book about Master Ibbon "accidentally" placed in the player's room is very much like Lisu Ibbon ;)

I saw both pictures (the portrait and the coat of arms) and they are ok, but with the records - do we apply that idea, the means to get a character in the player's party?

You see... :evil   I was thinking about how to stage a barfight in the tavern :devilish   (not necessarily a fight in the game's terms, but perhaps just a simulated one inside a dialogue). From this fight the player might get another character (or just the very one with the records problem) in his party. Also this could be a good reason for talks with the tavern owner.

The dog is cool lol, I'll see how to "introduce" it :)

Also the pranks seems like a nice idea (lol, just opposite to the regular rpg where the player helps two NPC's in getting along with each other :D  )

Hmmm, but the barmaid?... I don't know, I thought that Judith was supposed to write that dialogue... I won't think of her though until I get the tavern owner at least sketched. Uhm... am I afraid to write female dialogues? lol dunno, I guess I'll have to see that for myself :p

:lol  Ha! Smith, you should be afraid. Especially in the case that the female dialogues turn out to be too good!

Records book: Still need to make a picture for that... Of course we can integrate the idea. If you want to elaborate this a bit, feel free to do so - it's about time that people can join the player. Though, I'd say: If you help the character he/she should say: "If you need help in a way sometime, just let me know." This is because I'd like to have the joining members in the second part of the game - the player will get the mission: Gather a team for another search for the girl -  and he then can select from those he already encountered in part 1.

A fights in the tavern also would be nice. You can switch in a dialogue between different character pictures to get some sort of group talk - just make sure that the dialogue then is written in a way that the player won't be able to see the fight twice. If the player just watches, then you can also put in a character like for example Terlano (it's not important if the player met the guy already or not) - just make sure that e.g. Terlano then leaves the inn again before the player can talk to him. Later the player could ask the guy about the fight etc.

So I see there are various opportunities here - we'll see if we can get a nice barmaid dialogue from someone (it was Dalá who wanted to try her hand on it BTW).

P.S. Smith, you wrote to me a while ago that you have done your membership profile - and you requested if I actually got it, and I replied: Nope.

So I still don't have it. Don't know what's the problem, but perhaps you simply forgot to mail again... So just give it another try.
