The next version of LT 1.6 and the Nepris RPG is finally here :number1  in a single, easy to use package that features DnP (Download and Play) technology :b

Yes. You just have to unzip the package in ANY folder of your choice and simply start playing. No installations, no registry accesses, no hasle. (Provided that you have installed LT at least once with the normal procedure in the past so that the scripting control msscript.ocx has been properly registered through the installation)

First Package : 3.10MB Full

Second Package : 2.10MB

The second package does not contain the nepris-theme.mp3 that plays when the game starts. If you have it already, just copy it in the gamesounds directory.

Have some serious fun! :worship

Installation worked perfect - you made it much easier now to start the game, as it's now completed centered around one game and not modules you can load. I hope this makes things easier for "newbies" - and Talia... :lol   *runs quickly away*

BTW: I recognized a problem - you can't reach the wizard. It seems room 46 (near the bridge) is dead end at the moment, could be that you simply didn't connect the rooms 46 and 48. Can you fix that, Humangus?

Small thing: Log Bridge (53) has the following exits:

Exits: NorthEast, Location 45 (instead of South).

Yes. I forgot to connect rooms 46 and 48 :hammer

Here's the fix (3KB)

Just replace the Exits.dat with this one.

Uhm... File doesn't work... Once the file is replaced, LT states: Can't read Exits.dat... Something's wrong with the file.

Oh, and if you have fixed it - can you add it to the zip file as well to have the main download file complete? Then I'll put it up in the Forum Announcement:)

*throws this Dell notebook after Art , but hits Humangus*

"Darn, that was my last possibility to run windows, my husband will get probably a powerbook as soon as this notebook doesn"t work any longer." (Chilean desert sand kills all)

*Humangus lifts his hand in surrender*
"I promise I'll do a general Javaversion , not optimated for Windows"

...or whatever you said you would do perhaps instead of a Macversion....

apart from the "wizard room" fix here are a few bugs and suggestions...

mannef dialogue

- when mannef starts giving directions for places of importance in the village the texts is quite massive and also larger than the window, wich can make it a bit confusing: perhaps splitting it with the "Continue..." method would be better?
- he also points the player to the tavern to ask for Tendrim, and if one follows the road north probably one would enter the Tavern first and then the Inn, which makes things a bit confusing again for me (as I'm supposed to keep closed any references to Tendrim there if the player haven't checked at the Inn the respective Q/A). Perhaps we may change this a bit as instead of
"Tendrim is usually at the tavern up north, unless he's talking with the Mitharim dwarves at their caves. Well, just ask again at the tavern if you can't find him."

we can write:

"Tendrim is usually at the tavern up north, or at the Inn, that unless he's talking with the Mitharim dwarves at their caves. Well, just ask around, someone should know."

- also, mannef refers to "Lisu Isvikh, the innkeeper" as a town elder (!) Besides the name, somehow somebody forgot to mention this to me :D  or this is an older idea (changed in the meantime)?

andulf dialogue

- examining his wife results in a script error.
- perhaps we can use this method for the rest of the dialogues as well? I mean the italics for the descriptions of his actions spacing his answers? (uh... I know, I know, I should have written my texts this way in the first place, but I'll keep it in mind for the future)

innkeeper dialogue

- needs a form update: as I already mentioned - the writing style with the action descriptions in italics...
- when asking about the records the following happens:
___________________________
Smoking Man: The innkeeper nods. "Now what is it? Got lost? Looking for a room perhaps? Need information? Searching someone?"

Smith: "I changed my mind. I'd still like to see the records."

Smith: "I changed my mind. I'd still like to see the records."

Smith: "Can I see the records, please?"

Lisu Ibbon: "Sure, you know, everybody can just walk in and ask me for the records. What do you think?"
___________________________

Also, do you think it's a good idea to let the player pick up everything in Illbeth's kitchen?
Well, that's about it for now, I guess it will be an interesting game (I already saw some cool things that cannot be done the same way and with the same effect, in a strictly graphical game ;) )

@Smith: The parts that are my concern, the script error and the Lisu dialogue thing have been fixed. Generally, the inkeeper dialogue cannot be considered complete yet.

Now, the way we present the text, which is way too long in some situations can be easily done later. Certainly, there will be a refinement but this should happen at the last stages as a whole when we have agreed on a standard and coherent way to present things (e.g italics for actions, bold or color text for something else etc)

Of course the Exits.dat will not work. I was in a hurry to give a fix. The Engine always checks the CRC of the files to avoid any tampering of the files by the user.

Here's the new version (and there's not going to be any more updates from this point onward - Artimidor, you will soon get the project in you mailbox). This version also contains the msscript.ocx and tries to register it when it runs. So this means that this version will play almost for anyone without a previous intallation required.

nepris015full.zip 3.14MB

@Talia: Whatever! Porting to other platforms surely interests me but it is not going to happen before this game is finished. Until then, the 90% of computer users will suffice.

Works now, yup, but I seem to miss from the first glance at least the integration of the pics location_031.jpg and location_046.jpg (though they are included in the zip). Don't know if the waterfall pics from the last package are in now as well, would need to check that.

@Humangus: ok, I was just throwing down some thoughts after playing once the new version...

@Arti: I still need to know about Lisu Ibbon - is he a town elder? (because if he is, as Mannef says, then I need to add more lines to the dialogue, and also a quest, probably; or else we need to change the Mannef dialogue)

Ahh! I found what has happened with the images. Instead of "loading" picture "location_031.jpg" I used "location_31.jpg" The same for the other as well.
