At the Membership Application page you have even more detailed terms, see here, scroll down to the bottom and then read the details there at the last textbox.

Uhmm... That's pretty much a fairy tale, isn't it?  Read the links I've given above and see if you find that confirmed somewhere. Aside from the fact that we don't really plan to release any books or something similar at the moment, everything commercial which would (theoretically) be done goes of course straight into the pockets of the developers. However, it lies not in the intention of the site at all to earn money with it.

The copyright limitations are mainly to clear up the conditions for both sides. E.g. the Santharian website needs to maintain a right to display texts even when the publisher is not around anymore or for some unfortunate circumstance wants contents removed from the site. the later would be disastrous for the site. When the Santharian Dream has no right to display the content with the outlined conditions suddenly whole sections of the site would violate the copyright of the creators in such a case. And when half the history and races sections are to be removed because of such an incident this would be really harmful for this project.

The whole Copyright section is about maintaining intellectual property for the participants while preventing harmful scenarios for the project as a whole. If the section would not exist in theory anyone who has done entries for the site could demand them to be taken down if he says so. The agreement simply clears up that one gives the project the right to display those entries for the site.

Of course the above scenario is rather unlikely but it is better when everyone knows what he's getting into from the beginning.

And given how many expenses Artimidor has done for this project over the years, greed seems to be not one of his major traits and commercialization of this project is unlikely, if not impossible. Would pretty much destroy the fun of it.


Anyway, have fun on the site, as visitor or creator as you wish.

Well I would most sincerely join, and ask for it any day here, though after considering the following scenario, I have decided to lay off for some time:


Say that I were to contribute. There is no importance in this scenario whether I ocntribute little or much, however Santharia, or whomsoever with much control over it, decides to release a book. Whether fictional fantasy novels, or RPG rulebooks. For instance a D&D Santharia Campaign Setting. Now, of course the one in control rakes in cash, and we, the contributors, get nothing.
This is what annoys me. She/he has the right to do so at any time, once we sign up...

I am part of another very small community, running on phpbbhost servers. it has 13 members, and the administrator is 14 years of age. The community is growing constantly, as is the world, but here, all works remain the property of the forum as a whole, and no-one can decided to publish another's work.


Please do not get me wrong. I have learnt in my 15 year life so far to read the fine print. And I intend to. I will join perhaps if this scenario is cleared.

One such method would be, as just a small example:

If whomsoever makes money, by selling some of the works of us, then he/she should give every member, free ezboard supporter for a year?

Once again: You're telling a fairy-tale here, Mialle... This is a team project, and nobody would make anything commercial without the developers consent. Please read the page I've pointed you to again and also read Koldar's post carefully. Santharian content remains community content, that's precisely as in the community you describe.

Do you see for example any advertisements on the site, which would help to pay the bills for site, forums etc. Nope, there's someone else who takes care of that. I think commercialism is something which doesn't fit into a healthy world development project. Aside from that: If you'd really want to make money with what you develop, you can always use your own stuff wherever you want (as do for example our artists), but Santharia won't ever use anything someone has developed to make money.

Also - as I saw that stated at your Forum -: Santharia is a world of its own, it is by no means Middle-Earth, but only has a strong inspiration of Tolkien. Don't mix that up.

Well, I don't know if you need to post somewhere to join.  I certainly never did.  Then again, I'm more of a lurker, at least on this board.  I'm more often at the RPG board.

You become an "offical" member usually after 5 contributions or so (as stated on the membership page), simply to avoid that everyone who develops a beast and disappears into oblivion is already listed as "member". So if you want to join, I suggest to have a look around and see where you think you might like to contribute something, ask if such an entry would be ok and you can jump right in.

Well, this is the world of Caelereth/Santharia. This is not Middle Earth, nor any other RPG world. "Fanfiction" refers to an already existing world, where fans create their stories in this world's context, usually without participating in development of this world. And though I'm sure you're a fan of Santharia (  ) just call it "fiction in the world of Caelereth/Santharia". But there are no Gandalfs, Frodos, Shelobs etc. running around here!

Artwork: Same here - artwork needs to fit into the world or be reusable in a Santharian context. Artwork also needs to fit in style and quality to the rest of the site.

Welcome mialle.

I must say here, that I prefer if something is done exclusively for Santharia, with Santharia in mind when writing /painting it, not fixed concepts/ideas which only look for a home and are adapted more or less to fit in the dream.

This should not be a site where somebody comes and tries to publish his things/thoughts just that they are somewhere and then vanish again.
But let's see, what you have
