um... I'm kinda new here, and that page gave me a link and said to introduce myself here to get started, soo... Hi. I'm lucifer.

Hi, Master Silver.  THere are some wonderful links at the top of this forum to help you get started!  Read them first, particularly the FAQS, if you would.   If you are interested in helping us develop this wonderful world, you are very welcome.  

I might just say that you would be best advised to change your avatar name here.  We prefer names that are unique to Santharia, which carry on the fantasy atmosphere, and which do not belong to any Terran belief, existing fantasy novel, etc.

If you could choose something unique and creative, this would be a good start to begin your involvement here.  Try posting a few concepts or suggestions under the 'Silver' name if you are unsure what might be acceptable.

Here are a couple of possibilities - feel free if you like them!

um... if it's okay, I'd like to keep my name as is, if you please. I mean, it's not like anyone in an RP would come up and say "You're the Devil!" because of my name, and the name Lucifer Silver sounds cool. I've been using it for years ^_^

The point Judith is trying to make is that in time (once you've written an entry) your name will be on the main site. Lucifer is a name that could possibly offend someone, in my opinion, and creating a new account is not difficult. Judith offered some suggestions for a new name, you could use one of those or create one of your own.

However, if you're trying to role play then you're on the wrong board. Look here for the role playing board. Post your character once its finished in the Character Descriptions forum, using these guidelines. If you need help with your character, then look here.

actually I'm taking a break from RPing for a while, my RP group kinda collapsed recently and I was really just looking for something like you have here. a place to create without being stuck in the guise of a character. It's just that i plan on rping again a bit later on, once I'm used to things around here, and like I said, Lucifer Silver's been my name and character since I started.

but i see your point. would it be okay if i shortened my account's name to L. C. Silver? (the C stands for Chad btw)

I see your point, Master Silver, but again, I reiterate that our objection is not only to the actual name which could be offensive (Beelzebub, for example would be just as inappropriate) but also because we try to use original names which fit into the Santharian universe.  If you had logged in as 'Frodo Baggins' we'd also request a change!

No, you probably won't get called on 'Lucifer' on the RPG - but this is not the RPG and our rules are, if anything, stricter.  Precedent counts for a great deal, and we like to cross-reference and integrate.  

I would have suggested 'Lucif' as that is an acceptable name which is fact already on the site, except that you probably don't want the Lucif persona and we'd prefer not to duplicate names and confuse people.

(We work here as writers for the compendium with Santharian avatars; for example, my name really is Judith and I am a bardically-gifted Canadian woman who sings, plays, composes, and writes lyrics... yet I also create entries in the persona of a green-eyed Bardavos masterbard who has travelled around Santharia, is a close friend of the Dwarven race, and often resides at the Great Hall in New Santhala...eg., Bard Judith.)

Should you persevere as a part of the Development Board, we have found that it is best to choose an appropriate name/persona from the beginning; nor does that have to be the same as your RPG persona.

Hope that clarifies my request, and that you are able to choose a compromise I've suggested which makes you happy, or come up with an original and appropriate name of your own!

Intro: Well, just introduce yourself a bit - where do you come from, how old are you, what do you like doing etc. That sort of stuff

How to get ideas up and running: Let us know what field you're interested in to work in (Bestiary, Herbarium, Places, Library stuff, Magic spells etc.) and if you have something concrete in mind, just let us know!

Hmm... well, i'm planning on making entries on a lot of different things, but what i'd really like to try out eventually is working on one of the less developed areas of the world. The reason for this is because I would like to work on an entire lost civilization. (ambitious, no)?

However, Alastar, first you have to prove, that you are able to do an "entire lost civilation" and submit a series of really good entries. We prefer our newbies to start small, that turned out the better way in the past. And we prefer things developed which fit to what we have.... an "entire lost civilation" doesn't sound as if it has much connection to our world. We want to see, that you will stay with us and not vanish after some time. It is our time as well which we invest in checking your entries.

But I don't want to chase you out! Just tell us what you want to do in advance!

don't worry Talia, I could never be chased away, especially not by a being as beautiful as yourself. *bows deeply and takes the fair lady's hand, kissing it softly *

do not fret, I planned on starting small until i got the hang of things around here. a few plants, a coulpe of animals, maybe some wepons, small stuff like that. My civilization is still very much a work in progress, but so far it will include

- a history including origins and what lead to its becoming lost

- a unique (and now almost 100% lost) religion, including mythology and several gods

- magic unique to the civilization's descendants and those they taught (there will be quite a few survivors initially, so this won't cause any real problems in learning the magic... I hope)

- a good source for artifacts, myths, legends and such because of the... (I think tribe is the right word for this site, am I correct?) tribe's magically focused lifestyle and different style(s) of practicing magic.

Granted, much is still left before I actually start officially developing the civilization, but I have plenty of ideas for smaller entries already and I'm sure your site will inspire me further
