Could I get an elven and dwarven word for the following words/weapons?

- Axe (only elven needed)
- Blade
- Club
- Hammer
- Spear (only dwarven needed)
- Sword

I noticed these words were missing from the respective dictionaries. And, since I'm trying to make specific weapon-types for the various races and tribes, it would be so much easier if I had these words to call them.

I'd really appreciate it!!!

Thraz - Axe
Zil - Blade
Jhonk - Club
Ruhnt - Hammer
Alvgrum - Spear  (long-tooth)
Hlazil – Sword (fire-blade)

I'm glad you asked, as some of these words were in the updated dictionary but not yet on the site.  I just have not had time to type everything into the Editor, so people have to ask as they need at the moment.

There will be more detailed words for specialty tools (Thuruhnt - forgehammer / Aruhnt - jeweler's hammer / Trumruhnt - sledge or rock-hammer) but if you need them just ask here!

Regards from the bard,
Judith

Okay, but are these elven or dwarven words?

EDIT: They look dwarven, but one can never be too sure...

Er.... dwarven.  I AM the Dwarvenmistress, after all - and, as you point out, the words hardly have the melifluousness of Styrash, nor would the elves be so likely to have varying words for different types of hammers (such as forgehammers, etc.)

However, I should have specified, as it appears you are still quite new to the site and might not know these 'facts we hold to be self-evident'.... :p

The words provided above are in ThergerimTaal, the dwarven language, to be exact.  Hope they are useful, and please do ask if you have specific nomenclature needs.

Thank you, Judith, for... clarifying... that.  I had a hunch, but there's no sense in making assumptions only to be wrong.  Anyways, thanks again.  I shall come to you with any questions or requests on the part of ThergerimTaal.

As for Styrash.  Do we have any elven masters that can help me out here?

Judith, I've run into another problem.  You said that the dwarven warhammers were called "brainbeaters" or "deathdealers", but the dictionary has no "beater", or even "beat", nor does it have "deal" or "dealer".  Mind helping me out with that?

Which then leads me to my next thing.  I wish to work on the warhammers, and as you are the dwarven mistress, I figured you and I could work together to make it as accurate as possible?

Still waiting on those elven words, btw.  I'll double-check the dictionary to see if someone nonchalantly added them, but I don't think that's the case.

Looks around... Due to the fact that you've posted this request obviously in 2 different Forums you didn't find the Styrásh translations I've posted quite a while ago, eh?

How about looking here?

Aha!  No, I didn't see that, Arti.  I figured that the library wasn't the right place to post the question (as there was a language forum right above it that I didn't initially see! :lol ), so I stopped checking there.  Thank you.  I shall jot those down in my notes right away.

PahtAlon – brainbeater (from ‘brain’, Alon, and ‘beat’ Pahton)

Kagoz Khoryim – death-giving one

(these have internal capitalization, reflecting their archaic origins)

THE DICTIONARY ISN'T UP-TO-DATE - as is noted in the language forum.  Please request any ThergerimTaal words you need or can't find from me directly, preferably in the language forum!  I'll be happy to invent ones that aren't there, and put together compound phrases from the ones I do have.

Hope the above is helpful and thanks for reminding me!

I know the dictionary isn't all up to date, which is why I brought my request to you, Lady Judith.

PahtAlon - I like it.
Kagoz Khoryim - that's a little long for a weapon name, I think.  I noted that the Erpheronian Broadsword was nicknamed the "Ephord" for short, so maybe we could shorten Kagoz Khoryim to something smaller?  Maybe something like "KagKhor" or the like?  If the dwarves would always use the full word, however, then no problem.

Yeah, where possible I do elide dwarven compound words, as language would naturally elide and erode over the centuries.

However, this is a title - literally, as you requested.  And y'know, it's actually SHORTER in ThergerimTaal than in Tharian, unusually!

I also like the alliteration which makes it easier to say and remember, so if we can keep it as given, that would be great.

Any other requests - do feel free to get my attention by posting in this forum, or ringing my bell!

Alright.  Well, I went and did some little sketches on the two different mauls, and I'd like your opinion on them.  Just for tribal differences, and describing how they came about might be fun to do.  Here they are.  The big ones at the bottom right are the ones I'm thinking of doing.  Granted, these sketches aren't really proportional to how they'd really be, as they were simply done for conceptual work, but...  Anyways, I'm thinking they're the same weapon that do the same job, but have slight differences between them.  Most likely developed by different tribes, or something.  Don't know.  Like? Dislike?
