Hi, with the other forum thread lying around here somewhere about double work I just want to make sure that no one is really focusing on the Tethinrhim Tribe of elves. I've asked Art and he's said that it's ok to start, so now I'm just making sure that no one else is working on it so that I don't get almost finished and then get cut off by someone else :|

I've got a couple of ideas running about my head, I'm planning on reading some more into the history of the Ylfferhim Tribe and the Autirian / Zelpyrian Forests. As well as Santhala area in general so that I can get a better idea of what's going through my head and then write it down and have everyone thinkin' like that ;)

So just checkin' (fingers crossed)

Go for it Uragel, just check with Wren first. The southern elves are here babies. Probably all of the elves will be since we elected her expert of elves.;)

I've sent her a message through ICQ, but she's not answered :|  I'm going to have a look around for her e-mail address and send her an email about my ideas. I realise how much work you have to do in order to put together a tribe - only just starting is a lot of work! The reading, history, interwining them with other tribes and places. :eek  lots to do! :lol

 The Tethinrhim Tribe

 The Youth Tribe.

The Tethinrhim Tribe is found in the Auturian Woods north east of the Gulf of Marya. They have over the years become one of the most protective and warrior proud tribes of any race. They are always willing, and fully prepared to go into battle given a noble cause. Priding them selves on the quality of their fighting abilities, of not only their normal tribe members but also their Kaierian Warriors.

Coat of Arms:Believing that they are descendants of the Astyrhim, while they don’t share the same coat of arms, they have taken the eye symbol and incorporated it in their coat of arms. Believing that they are the purest of the eleven races because they have had several of their tribe’s men and women over the centuries evolve into light.

Government: One person governs over the tribe, male or female called the Rónn or Ava’ránn, generally the first-born child. Heavy Kaier training is given to the Rónn or Ava’ránn to ensure that the Rónn or Ava’ránn is strong and war ready, able to defend him or her own self. This has been the tradition of the Tethinrhim Tribe since the Deciding of the Blood (729 B.S) when the eleven and human rulers (Avá'ránn and Korpicor) dueled, resulting in the God’s striking both down at the same time.

The community often raises children of the Rónn or Ava’ránn children. This allows the children to grow up with a level head and out look on life. The heirs to the Tethinrhim sovereignty are often unaware of their birthrights.

This begun when an unknown person of an unknown race and the Rónn kidnapped one of the heirs threatening to kill the child if their demands were not met. The Rónn had to sacrifice his child for the sake of the tribe. Since then, all children have been considered the responsibility of the tribe and are looked after by the community. Children can often be found playing in the Ria which is generally left open to all who enter save a few meeting rooms and the living areas of the Sovereign’s family.

The heirs are under the care of the tribe and generally live with a specially selected family who will protect them with their own lives.

Society: Following the Rónn or Ava’ránn, the Kaierian Warriors are the next most respected people amongst the tribe. They are highly trained Warriors, exceptionally skillful in battle. Spending many years training the Kaierian Warriors to be finally classed as a Kaierian Warrior must go out and complete a quest of self-learning. Each test is different. Often these tests will last many months.

The Spiritual Guider, is another highly respected tribe’s person. Often very gifted in the magical ways. There is only one to three at a time, training is harsh and generally starts from childhood when the child is seen to have the gift.

Other than the Rónn or Ava’ránn, Kaierian Warriors and the Spiritual Guider there is no other high-ranking tribes people Keeping their social and governing system simple. Rolls for men and women unlike the humans are not dependent on gender. A male can look after the family while the female is out working, hunting etc. Children are more or less raised by the Tribe. Thus allowing an even ‘playing field’ for all.

Appearance: Like the well-known Arelina the Tethinrhim Tribe members generally have very fair skin and a rich gold red hair. All children born to the Rónn or Ava’ránn have hazel eyes and their hair is has often been commented on being the “colour of rubies”, or a “deep sunset red”.

General Clothing: The tribe members wear mainly cotton clothing dyed in greens and browns to hide them in the treetops. Consisting of dresses, trousers, skirts, shirts and shorts. Only restricted by the imagination of the wearer.

Male Kaierian: Generally wear a leather flap that covers the front and back of his pelvis. Some males also include light cotton under wrap for extra protection. When going to war, leather armor is worn covering their chest and legs. Some also wear a chain mail covering the leather, however this is very rare. Green face paint is applied and Vieor’s are worn (Veior - which consist of a necktie and an arm band.)

Female Kaierian: Leather covering the breasts in their own chosen fashion and a short skirt or flap like the males wear. Some females also opting for the cotton under cover. When in battle some female also wear the leather armor. Green face paint is applied and Vieor’s are worn (Veior - which consist of a necktie and an arm band.)

Rónn or Ava’ránn Kaierian: Wearing the same as other Kaierian Warriors, however to they, they continue to wear the Rónn or Ava’ránn Bands (Fui’Veior - which consist of a headdress, a necktie and an arm band.) Also wearing green face paint.

Rónn or Ava’ránn: When not at war, or participating in a battle the Rónn or Ava’ránn is dressed in either an elegant dress or suit depending on preference (not gender) and the Fui’Veior is worn also. The colourings of the Rónn or Ava’ránn’s outfits are generally elaborate greens and browns. However it has been known for a Rónn or Ava’ránn to wear white while traveling to other provinces.

Avár’Soorn / Spiritual Guider: Dressed in a long green robe which starts off brightly coloured and then as their knowledge grows and their age increases this slowly changes in colour to a deep royal green. When traveling a green leather cape can be worn. Very rare to ever see a Avár’Soorn not wearing their traditional green.

Language: Because of their continued contact with the other eleven tribes, the Tethinrhim language is much the same as normal eleven tribes. The vowels are pronounced with more of a growl than normal.

Diet: Largely based on vegetation after the third great flood. Meat is eaten however it’s kept for special occasions.

Training and Education: While a largely a passive tribe they are very skilled hunters and have a special class of respected Warrior Elves (Kaierian). Often the Rónn or Ava’ránn is trained as one of the Kaierian Warriors to ensure the strength of the tribe. Often referred to by others out side the tribe as Wood Elves.

Buildings: There is only one major building in the Auturian Woods called the Ria, the house of the Rónn or Ava’ránn. A relatively small building when it’s compared to other houses of Royalty. However the Tethinrhim are not ones to draw attention to them selves intentionally.

Tribe members live in small buildings high in the tops of the trees. Such housing is easily defendable, easier on nature and a lot simpler to conceal. Houses are connected with small bridges, often just a log that has been flattened over time.

History: 806 the beginning of the first SARVONIAN WAR (SW I) (THE WAR OF THE BLOOD) the Auturian Woods were burnt down as a retaliation for the murdering of Gorm. This was the first major war, slaughtering many lives. This war would continue lasting nearly 80 years with no clear victor.

While in 701 B.S a famin hit shortly after the The Third Great Flood, distroying the fish supplies and deseasing the livestock with Elven killing visursus the Tethinrhim suffered a heavy loss.

Religion: While much the same as all Elves, the Tethinrhim have over the years have been focusing their belief system so that along with Avá, Arvins (God of the Hunt), Queprur (Goddess of the Earth – Also known as the Goddess of Death) and Eyasha (Goddess of Peace) are the main Gods and Goddesses that they pay    homage to. Armeros (God of War) is also respected amongst the Kaierian Warriors.

General Information: A highly skilled tribe members generally skilled in at least five of the following:

Bowyer, armourer, fisher, forester, groom, hunter, leather worker, mapmaker, mason, weapon smith, herbal law, climbing, telepathic, general fighting abilities and survival .

The Rónn or Ava’ránn and his/her family are all educated in every one of these areas.

Generally once a normal tribe member reaches adolescences they focus on fewer of these skills becoming a specialist.

Affection is kept to a minimum. Since the horrible death of Arleina, public displays of emotions were discouraged. Kaierian Warriors are trained to have very few emotions at all. Spiritual Guiders and Rónn or Avá’ránn are the ones most affected by emotions as they have a heavy burden upon them however it is only in the privacy of their own company do they show their emotions.

At birth every Tethinrhim child is tattooed on the left arm. Each child having an individual symbol with the “eye” and the Tethinrhim Tribe’s symbol which represents their soul name. The Spiritual Guider is the one who looks into the soul of the child and instructs the tattoo artist of the symbol. Thus the Spiritual Guide is one of the few that can read the symbols. Dragons and other highly developed spiritual leaders can read the symbols also.

The tattoo symbolizes a great pride that each Tethinrhim Tribe Member has also the soul name of the elf. Which is a name that generally loved ones call each other, or finding ones self.

This is what I'm thinking for the coat of arms.

Also the "Uragel" link at the bottom is what I've based the S'Er Kaierian Warriors after.

Looks fine to me... although you know that it is not nearly enough for Art? ;)

To elaborate the history further I'd talk with Wren to discuss the relation between your elve tribes and with Capher as he wants to make an entry with the human Avennerian tribe which lives east of you (city Marcogg).

All that is in the "pipe line" however I'm in Australia so I've got to stay up *really* late to talk to either of them or do it via emails which we've started.

It's something that I want to work some more on any way. So that they are cemented in to the history and not just 'yeah they were there'.

Thanks for the comments! :)

It’s actually just under 2 pages using times new roman font at size 10! :lol   - so when I’m finished there will be plenty there for even Art! (I hope!:| )

Thank you Capher :)  – since I’ve got your attention I would like to talk to you about the human tribe to the right of the Tethinrhim Tribe. Since there was a rather large human  elf battle(s) I think that something would have had to have happened between the two tribes. Especially since they are fairly close.

Also, for when Wren reads this I’ll need to speak to her  you about the happenings between “her” tribe and “mine” – friends, foes, both depending on the time frame.

<cheesy grin>  I’m glad (relieved) that you (all?) like it!

It's not the same style as all the other maps - because I couldn't figure how how to do it. However it gets the point across none the less..............

OK first Uargel, that is an absolutly fantstic first entry, but I have two little niggles (sorry)

1. You say that they speak much the same languages as the other elves. That would be Styrash. The Styrash word for Queen is Avarann, I forget the main the male version. S'er is a very strange word for Styrash pronoucation. However, if there is a good reason for them to have a different word for their leaders then fair enough. The Ylfferhim are different because they isolate themselves, but the language is still closely related. Just check the Styrash dictionary to make sure the word you want isn't already listed. I will try to get on to making an English Stryrash dictionary. If you want to change it, them try to think how it would have evolved from the Styrash word.

2. They're related from the Astryim right, and local to the tribes I'm working on. Do they share the same myths of evolution(check the library). If so they will be related to the Quaelhoirhim and Ylfferhim. If they don't what do they belive?Do you think that believing they are the purest form of normal elf (even if they are, though I have commented elsewhere I didn't think that normal elves could become light elves, though it works vice versa, but that's up to your mythology) will make them very popular with other tribes?

That's it. I'm really sorry if thats really harsh. I do think your a really talented writer, and hey I only found two little errors, which is pretty good going for me. I just felt I needed to say them to try and keep it consistant.

I'm working on the idea that there is a High Elven Circle that meets once every fifty years and more often in  times of trouble. Dark ELven tribes may be invited, and each tribe has leadership (High Elven Avarann hails from one tribe) for 150 years.  I plan the the Ylfferhim have held the leadership once in the reign of Antholousian and the Queal have held it three times (big tribe, very sociable, most contact with humans due to their beliefs) I will contact you when I start sorting it out and we can work this tribe into this scheme too.

Uragel: From Wren those are very good suggestions, and comments. I also as I was rereading your entry wondered how you came up with your names. Also as Wren pointed out elves don't have what us humans call kings and queens, they are the High Avaraan, for the female Soverign and I believe it is Ronn, for the male Soverign.

Otherwise it is a fantastic first entry. Shows you are serious and willing to do the research. As well as being a talented writer.

Not harsh at all. :)

I’ve only just discovered the Styrash dictionary and didn’t realize until yesterday that there was already a name for the “King” and “Queen” because they are human names – I knew that there would be one, however I didn’t know what the words were. So I’ll go through and fix it up to what it’s mean to be in the Styrash language.

As to their beliefs I think that it would be logical for them to have the same belief system as their neighboring tribe. However the two tribes are quite different. I wanted to talk with you a little more on your tribes belief system so that I can alter it a little and then fix that up also…..

Thanks for your help Wren…

Capher – blush ;)
