If you wonder why I do this. I do this mainly because I'm always switching between two computers and this is the easiest way to receive feedback and keep my things up to date.
Also merging this together will make it easier to do a coherent entry on all tribes of Aca-Santerra and their history and part in it.

Here I plan to include the general entry on Aca-Santerra.

To all who wonder beside the two tribes that are already halfway there I plan to add one or two more , currently only one is planned but I'll adjust that depending on the geography of the region...

I'll slightly readjust the entries of the tribes in terms of trade/production and such (the Murmillions will gain most of the smithing abilities and metal work of the Santherrans, etc.) so don't wonder...

  general entry, maybe later!;)

History will be here first, later adjusted to the rest:
History
~3600 b.S. In a time of darkness the Santherrans come to the Nybelmar from the east fleeing from an unknown danger and settle on the islands east of the continent. They keep for themselves for several centuries founding communities on the various islands.
...

History part can only be completed when I have the Nybelmar -> Aca-Santherra -history done.

-Arrival on the Isles

-Rage of the Sea kings

- The long brother wars for dominance on the islands

-Founding of Aca-Santherra

- Expansion onto the continent

-Wars against Korweyn

-Conquest of the barbarian tribes

-The great Riot ended with the defeat of the northern tribes and their occupation.

-Jelim the Great

-Contact with Strata

Santherrans, the (Men of the Isles)

Overview

The Santherrans were originally the inhabitants of the islands of Delvynnar, Therigal and Euri-Endalla close to the eastern coast of the continent of Nybelmar. They lived with and on the ocean but soon with sword and plough they spread over the continent of Nybelmar as well. With a good portion of the mainland secured and dozens of islands on their back the Santherrans flourished and grew into one of the most powerful tribes on Nybelmar ruling the greatest known sea power on Sorren. Their ships crossed many oceans and even reached the most distant coasts on their travels for goods and riches. Well-known sailors and feared warriors most of the wealth that can be seen in the cities of Aca-Santherra is based on trade as they control important trade lanes
from the Nybelmarian south to the north as well as to the distant Kingdom of Santharia. During the course of history the Santherrans have proven time after
time the value as merchants, conquerors and deeply religious farmers with strong bounds to their original homelands.

Appearance

The Santherrans are very high grown compared to most other tribes and nations of Nybelmar, often referred to be of noble stature. Their skin colour ranges from a copper-brown to light brown with black, brown or red hair. Among noblemen and warriors the hair is usually shaved or plaited to various braids. Among the Santherran priesthood - which consists of woman only - very complicate and artistic designs are well-liked.
All kinds of jewellery from amulets to all kinds of rings often decorated with precious stones are worn to demonstrate your status among the society. Their faces seem hard to strangers, with high cheeks and edgy chins and no obvious sign of emotion. The eyes slightly narrowed and usually of a dark brown or even black. Other eye colours are seen as a gift from the gods and promise high magical powers.

Coat of Arms

Beside the royal banner of the High-kingdom of Aca-Santherra the Santherrans don't use any other banners for identification purposes but field signs to plead for the assistance from their Gods. These are holy animals in the eyes of the Santherrans who take care for the realm of a certain god in Aca-Santherra and are said to be able to protect you from harm, gift you special power and guarantee you luck. They're used for nearly any purpose, to bless weapons, protect a ship from storm and damage, houses from fire and people from illness. The most common holy animals are the dolphin, accompanied by the sword whale, the lion, the seagull and the bat and decorate most places and items of Santherran people. The noble houses chose one or more holy animals to protect them but identify themselves by wearing different color combinations usually yellow or orange (as a sign for nobility) with various other colours. Those colours are worn by the noblemen in public, by their soldiers as well as by their officials.

Territory

The Santherrans are the greatest faction of the Aca-Santherran population. They live mainly on the densely populated islands at the coasts and inland
cities along the Jerrah while the other tribes under their rule usually inhabit the hills and woods or mixed up in the big cities. Their territory spans
from the eastern borders of the Emerald Woods to the coast, the mountains of eferán’ypheró as the northern and the great river Jerrah as the southern border. Also they control the three main islands over the archipelago farther east to the Wernam and even beyond.

People

The Santherrans are best-known and feared for their unforgiving temper and deep belief of their own superiority. Their army is strong due to their heavy cavalry, the Frathra and their other elite warriors. On the mainland they borrowed much about warfare from conquered tribes, though.
Where the Santherrans exceed are the high seas, their sturdy and fast ships and their brave sailors and explorers who have seen many coasts of Sorren. They're said to be the best shipbuilders of Nybelmar. None can copy the unique of the famous Besan-caravel which makes this ship capable of sailing the High Seas despite the worst weather and highest waves.
Still, although they push forward to unknown coasts they tend to focus on their own problems. In the belief of the Santherrans the Gods play a decisive role in choosing the destiny of someone and so they spend much time for praying and guessing the wishes of this or that god/dess as they think much of their power is based on pleased gods and good omens. This belief is consequently followed to the interior by the noble houses who seek to gather a strong priesthood to please the gods and to exterior by leading merciless crusade on the behalf of the gods and finishing wars from day to the other because of bad dreams and bad omens.
In the eyes of strangers their behaviour seems often stubborn and arrogant but is always driven by these believes into the gods and the search for their destiny.

Housing

Depending on the place the Santherrans prefer solid stone buildings. In rural villages they're usually of rectangular shape with a connected stable. Along a long hall are the rooms of the family and the household. At the end of it is the meeting room around a fireplace below a hole in the roof. Here the family eats and meets visitors on low banks or even couches with cushions. The food is cooked over the fireplace, in an extra room or outdoors. The corners of the houses are often decorated with statues or reliefs of that houses patrons. In the cities high houses are often build with one floor for one family as high as six floors. Also, the noble houses like to decorate their houses with fine stone like marble and obsidian and expand the space with extra rooms for more servants, places for the visitor's, a diverted private and public meeting place, a library and an own altar room for the house gods. Glass is precious and often only used for temples and shrines but whenever used it shines in all possible colours put together in mosaics.
Those who cannot afford marble or other fine stone colour their houses in bright red-orange, yellow or white. The capital Altyr with its great temples and palaces - shining in white marble and black obsidian - embedded in red and yellow houses and city walls leading down to the shore terrace for terrace which gave the city its Nickname "Ruby of the Blue Sea".

Clothing

The Santherrans have a strange fable for asymmetric dresses. Due to old traditions most clothes the male population wear keep the right arm free from cloth at all. This is seen as a polite and open gesture as you greet with the right hand and thus it should not be covered nor hidden.
This is also the reason why Santherran coat is thrown over the left shoulder. Trousers are an uncommon sight among Santherrans, only sailors wear ones to protect against the cold sea.
The skirts are usually cut asymmetric as well, this time the right side being the longer one. This fashion might have its origin in the Frathra, the popular military cast. On the left side these knights wear the sturdy "Thornshield" which is attached to the armour like an extra shoulder pad that can be moved with the arm for dodging. As it reaches down to the knees the left side is well-protected. On the right side the sword arm is
only lightly armoured mostly with bracelets sometimes by chain mail which supports most possible agility. As the right side of the knight is not defended by a shield the right leg is protected by plate leggings and an armoured boot. This fine art of blacksmithing might have led to this strange fashion that spread among the commons and the nobility alike.
The women wear for public purposes several layers of long dresses with golden embroidery and in the colours of the God they feel dedicated to gold, silver, pearl and even precious stones woven into complicate made up hair. They tend to make their skin appear paler as a sign of their closeness to the gods (white is seen as the pure color).
To less official occasions a simple one coloured dress and a vest held by a broad belt is the norm, the hair made up into one long pigtail.
Popular by both genders are all kind of jewellery like bracelets rings and amulets, even piercing of all kinds. Most of the jewellery has a religious purpose blessed by one or the other God to protect the person wearing it sometimes it expresses a certain alignment as well.

Food

The Santherrans originally lived from fishing and the fruits and berries that grew on the rocky islands. Later they started to build fruit plantages for all kinds of berries as well as common vegetables and more exquisite ones like olives, dates and figs. When they claimed land on the continent they also got used to herding and farming and agricultures though most of this food is still produced by other tribes.
In the cities and ports you can usually find a vast variety of different meat, fish and other food which is all enjoyed by the population.

Weapons

Traditional weaponry among the Santherrans is the long, hooked pike which is often used for fishing and whaling as well and the heavy sabre used by the Frathra but all kinds of other weaponry is known as well. They adopted the "bladeaxe" from the northern tribes which is used by the Murmillon as the close
combat weapon and developed several very effective artillery for their navy.

Occupations

In the Santherran society only women can become priests as they are supposed to be closer to the gods. As the wives of ruling nobles are commonly the highest judge and priest in this area all noble houses try to have as many high ranking priestess in their family as possible to guarantee that the
gods are with them.
High-priestesses are the most respected persons in Santherran society, even the High King himself ranks slightly below them. As magic is seen as a unpure way to influence the forces of nature or even seen as abusing the powers of the gods all magic-capable people become members of the temples, the women as priestesses, the men as horathra, high ranked temple guards whose responsibilty is the safety of their high-priestess and the temples and they're usually trained in some weapon disciplines and their way of magic according to the temple they belong to.
In the nobility there's a strict division between spiritual leadership - by the high priestess - and mortal leadership by the noblemen, the spiritual being generally valued higher. In the lower casts everyone can generally do about any job. However usually the men do the work on the fields, fishing, labour in the mines or manufactures while women exceed in craftsmanship like jewellery, carpeting and even blacksmithing.

Government

The Santherran society is strictly divided into several factions based on heritage, wealth and tradition. The Nobility, the Citizens, the Allies, the Free and the Unfree.
The Nobles protect their rights from having direct ancestors belonging to the dynasties of the ancient Sea Kings. They rule their provinces nearly
unopposed only limited by the High King's laws and his representatives and hire the armies necessary to defend the "sacred lands".
The Citizens are those families who have proven their worth by providing their fighting skills to the security and unity of the High Kingdom. The families keep these rights as long as one or more membersof their family are part of the elite formations of the Santherran army. There are three types of them: The Frathra, the Enayctar and the Murmillion. Being the major and best trained part of the High Kings army they are responsible to none but him. These warriors have sworn loyalty to the king and this way ensure the loyalty of too ambitious noblemen as well and are respected by the common people.
The Allies are people from tribes who were subdued by force or merged into the kingdom. The Santherran think that they're of different blood than themselves and so they are not completely integrated into the society. Usually these tribes are allowed to govern themselves and are treated as permanent allies of the kingdom. Their only duties are to pay tribute to the king and provide men in case of war otherwise everything else is up to them as long as it does not affect Santherrans.
The greatest honour the High King can grant is to make an Ally a Santherran duchy, making all people on it Santherrans protected by Santherran law and power.
The Free are the main faction of Santherran society. They're reigned by the nobility and experience none of the privileges a full-worthy citizen would do but are protected by the King's Laws. They might be forced into military duty in times of war but generally can live in peace without worrying about the events in the world.
Unfree or Slaves become only those who committed crimes, prisoners of wars or those who can't pay their debts. There are several levels of unfree people, the worst being a slave in the royal mines to dig for gold or precious stones. Working in the mines is limited to 15 years which barely anyone survives but the rest of the Unfree have to work for noblemen to pay their debts. When they don't fulfil the conditions of the contract the nobleman can judge them and punish him as he wishes. Still, all kinds of Unfree must not be killed as this kind of punishment is only allowed by the priesthood for the worst kinds of crimes.
Aca-Santherra doesn't know professional soldiers except the guards of the nobles and the king. In times of war the nobility usually recruited soldiers from their rural population and hired mercenaries. But when Aca-Santherra landed on the continent and reached for their own territories in the Wernam this wasn't enough anymore. To get well-trained and loyal troops that can be sent to any place necessary the Sea King gave common people and their families special rights to maintain weapons and armoury all-time when one or more members of this families swore loyalty to him. This gave him loyal troops independent from his nobility as well as well-trained units which were available at all times. For this purpose he copied the model of the ancient Enayctar who once were the close followers of noblemen and used him and his variants for his purposes on all battlefields: On the sea the Enayctar, on the plains the Frathra and in the hills the Murmillion.

Production/Trade

The Santherras became famous for their shipbuilding but they as well are famous for their fine worked jewellery and their beautiful decorated armour and weapons. Much of their work is done with much artistic detail in mind and so all their goods are high-valued by neighbouring kingdoms. They export many different goods as well as precious stones, gold and silver found in the hills of Delvynnar and at the riverbanks of the Jerrah. For this they import spice, exotic woods, food, cotton as well as silk and dyed clothes, pottery and various raw materials from their neighbours and from their colonies in the Wernam. Due to this fact the ports and cities of Santherra became important marketplaces for all kinds of goods from all parts of Nybelmar and even Sorren.

Natural Resources

Some silver and gold can be found in the Hills and in the rocky grounds of the islands of Aca-Santherra. Pearls are found along the shores of some of the big islands and in the fertile soil of the riverbanks of Jerrah various precious stones like emeralds and rubies can be found.

Festivals

Description of the celebration days which are of importance for this tribe. With the beginning of a new year a big festival is held in all parts of Aca- Santherra to worship the main gods of the kingdom and plead for a new good year. The High King visits during this time the main temples of every Main God to ask for guidance in the new year.

The MURMILLIONS, the Children of Darkness

Overview
The Murmillions are the tribe living in the shadows of the burning mountains, in its deep valleys and long hillside. They’re the remants of those that once followed the the Call of the Chosen and became his most loyal guards. In the shadows of his once strong fortress the few survivors of the last battles recovered and became a determined and strong tribe dreaming of his lost power and might.

Appearance
The people of the Murmillions of slender appearance with pale skin and dark hair which ranges from ash blonde to black. Some say some Elven blood flows through their veins though of dark alignment.
The Murmillions are obsessed in gaining fame and power thinking they must please their main goddess, Mari. As Mari is similar to Thalisien, the God of Dreams of the Santherrans a God of the mind and the dreams they think of their dreams containing prophecies and guides of their future.
Their cloth is mostly made of wool and dyed in dark however shimmering colors. Purple and blue are favourite colors together with grey and wine red.

Coat of Arms
<<<blank>>>

Describe the tribe's coat of arms, if any, and perhaps add why it looks like this, what the symbols mean and what historical, cosmological or mythical significance they have.

Territory
The Murmillions live in the southern valleys and hillside of the “burning mountains”, in the hills that are now called the “Nightvalleys”. Many myths tell about the dark and deep caves that can be found in the mountains and serve the Murmillions as strongholds for refugee and shelter. Their territories extend till the coasts to the east and west and the plains south.

People
The Murmillions are a folk of strong will and short temper. In their belief in the Goddess of Mari they’re willing to do much which appears weird, arrogant or cruel to other people but in their own way they can be loyal comrades and warm family members. To fullify their destiny which is often already determined by birth is one of the most important goals of a Murmillion.
Some wise men once said that the Murmillion are split between darkness and the light seeking the one by obeying to the second. The religious rituals of Mari the main goddess of the Murmillions are always seeming chaotic and are very mindinfluencing driving the participants often in states of hysteria, deep meditation or halluzinations.
The rituals to determine the future are more misleading and subtile than those known from the priests of Thalisien but are also more detailed and powerful if interpreted right.

Housing
The Murmillions live in so-called “Draks” which are houses built and carved into the hillsides and rocks of the mountains often reachable only via one artifical path or road. They serve as towns and fortresses at the same time and are difficult to conquer often built into high cliffs and consist of a confusing network of stairways, passages and short connection tunnels. In these Draks often the nobility and craftsmen –which are often one and the same person- live together with their family, their servants and other aligned families.
Most other Murmillions live in the actual hills scattered over the place. There often one family lives from herding sheep and cattle and some basic farming.
The houses they live in are often halfway digged into the ground and covered with grass and earth as roof. The first room is a open meeting place with a fireplace in its midst around which the family eats and lives. Guests stay here overnight as well. As taverns and Inns are rare this is often the only way for wanderers to find shelter in the “Nightvalleys”. From the circular meeting room normally three, sometimes more, doors lead to more rooms, one being the storage room and kitchen, one leading to a narrow stable for the livestock of the family and the last leading to the private chambers of the family. This is usually one big room divided by thin leather or wood mattes(?). Outside these farms often have one small garden for vegetables and herbs.

Clothing
The Murmillions cloth in crude wool clothes which are, however, very tricky dyed in mostly earthern and dark colors that have the shimmer of brighter colors in it. Over their usually single-colored skirts or dresses the Murmillions –men and women alike- wear black leather vests, jackets, bracelets and belts often decorated with silver (Nieten?). Depending on the weather a wide fur coat wrapped around the body and often only fixed with the belt completes their outfit.
The Murmillions use black leather wherever possible. Black seen as a pure color similar to silver which is related to the stars.
Most of their jewellery, rings, necklets or armrings are made of silver. Gold, precious stones –except the dark opale which is highly appreciated- is seen as arrogant (Tand?), not worthy for a decent tribesman.
Men usually wear their dark hair shortcut, with well-kept beards, sometimes when kept longer with one or two braids, only seldom kept long and open. The woman wear their hair long and open often kept together with leather straps or hats (Hauben?).
During war the Murmillions dress in black brigandines entrenched with steel plates around the shouders, a half closed helmet that covers eyes and nose and is often decorated with figures or feather to make the warrior appear higher, a round shield and the Scythar.

Food
The Murmillions live mainly from their livestock eating the meat and making cheese and other milk products. Grain for bread is also produced and every family has a small, private garden which adds some vegetables to their daily menu from time to time. Over time their demand for more food sources made them import food from the southern regions along the Jerrah and even fish from the Islands of the Santherrans.

Weapons
The Murmillions are great mountain warrior. Most of them fight on foot, only noblemen invest in a mountain pony to ride to the battlefield. They use mainly spears, pikes and axes.
Their most famous weapon is the Scythar, the so-called bladeaxe which is used by nearly anyone who has enough money. Its blade is curved like a sickle however at its tip a thorn points forward again. The bow between the thorn and the rest of the blade is used to fend off enemy swords and the thorn itsself - as is the blade -is strong enough to pierce most kind of armor.
The Santherrans later adopted this traditional equipment, including the Scythar, and accepted many Murmillions as equal in their army of elite warriors of the same name [Murmillions] only exchanging the round shield for a great rectangular one and adding several light throwing spears.

The one tribe that once controlled the coasts and the plains  before the Santherrans came. Most possibly they once controlled cities seized by Korweyn as well....

Will develop later...

The TANARI

Overview

The Tanari inhabited the islands of Santerra long before the Santerrans set their foot on the lands. Many myths and legends emerged around this very old human tribe as most of their history was destroyed when the Santerrans came and sometimes willingly sometimes by force the Tanari merged into the Santerran nation. The only known Tanaris left nowadays are living in the mountain ranges of the biggest island of the Santerran Realm, they do not differ much from the Santerrans anymore but nevertheless are still proud of their different heritage feeling as the only natives on the islands.

Appearance

The Tanari are generally a rather small-grown folk, some even don't exceed a tall dwarf in height. They're nevertheless muscular and very sturdy in build, perfectly adjusted to the rocky cliffs and hard weather on the islands.
Their skin color was usually a light copper tone, the skin being burnt by the sand and tested by the hard and cold winds.
<<<more to add>>>

Coat of Arms

The old shields hold tribal signs of unknown variations, mostly animals that inhabitated the surroundings of the various dwellings.
<<<blank>>>

Describe the tribe's coat of arms, if any, and perhaps add why it looks like this, what the symbols mean and what historical, cosmological or mythical significance they have.

Territory

The territory of the Tanari formerly spanned over all islands of Aca Santerra but with the increasing influence of the Santerrans and the mixing of both groups the number of unassimilated Tanari slowly withdrew into the more isolated, rocky mountain ranges of the islands. Today the tribes of the Tanari live in the highlands of Euri and at some isolated spots along the coast.
In many ways they adopted to the culture of the Santerrans and many others of them live mixed up with Santerrans in the coastal cities of Aca-Santerra without even knowing their national heritage enjoying the same privileges and duties like the Santerrans.

So does that mean that the Aca-Santherrans would have a fierce competition between themselves and the Avennorians who also claim to build the best ships in the world of Sorren. LOL

Should be interesting.  BTW I like the entries so far.  When ready completely just tell me and I will upload it.  Great detail. Love it.

Competition? Well, the Santherrans are the dominating tribe of Aca-Santherra, they conquered the other tribes and slowly merged them into their kingdom. The Murmillion are their most counterpart, they also have no naval ambitions in any way, don't accept the Santherran rule very well and believe in their own goddess as much as the Santherrans do in theirs.

I'm not sure about the Avennorians, though. The Santherrans made only contact with Strata when it was the largest Santharian naval power. And they're highly capable on the High Seas. The Avennorians can claim to be the best shipbuilders on Sorren, the Santherran would just not believe it and as they control the seas around Nybelmar they would sink any ship violating their rights.

The only contact with nybelmar is supposed via the archipelago of teh Ferrath islands which are in the hands of one of the Nybelmarian kingdoms...

hope that clears it up a bit.

I thought the Avennorians were driven off the high seas by Strata and Strata was the last major power in that field before it got somewhat unimportant...

Finally I'll put your Santerrans up Koldar - sorry for the long delay... The entry is extremely well done, congratulations. The only problem I really see is th difference in the spelling "Santerran"/"Santherran" in comparison to other entries. I'll use "Santerran" as it is used everywhere else if this is ok.

I take it Aca-Santerra does not have a dwarf population?

At the very least the dwarfs would not find it a congenial place to settle, as your humans seem to have a stranglehold on the mining, smithing, and jewelry-making industry of the continent.  Correct?

Since dwarves are stubborn, tribal, congenial, and agoraphobic, they would not blend well into human society as the Gnomes have been able to do.  So either you have a very monocultural society, or dwarves in this region have become a degraded race who live underground but have no real functions or responsibilities within the sociological systems of Aca-Santerra.

Let me know which you had in mind.

Not much other races in Santerra, o. I guess in the big port cities you can expect the usual amount of lost people and a mixture of races but beyond that the main poulation is definetely human.
I try to work that out opposing to Korweyn who rule among nearly every race in a complicate system...
