Being a guitarist myself (a very dedicated one at that!) I am interested in possibly assembling a series of entries detailing the various instruments throughout Santharia. Before I get too excited and ahead of myself I wanted some input from the rest of you (as I've had bad experiences with getting started before consulting with you all :) )

If I do get the "go ahead" my focus will centre primarily around string instruments and hopefully extend into wind instruments, percussion (pretty much everything that I think the bards of Santharia would use)

Sound like an idea? I hope so... got some ideas brewing :D

Dagon, great minds think alike.  Of course, sometimes they often think slowly - or don't get around to finishing things.

'Music of Sarvonia' has been in the works for ages now.  It was held up by discussions, then illness, then an ezboard crash which erased a great deal of data from our boards, and finally simply slipped slowly down the Misc. Forum into the depths of obscurity... until you reminded me that it existed!

As you can see, a great deal of work has already gone into creating and incorporating unique and interesting instruments.   As is also obvious, there is still plenty of room to create and incorporate more - or to detail and create entries for instruments that are little more than names, or described in single sentences.

Read, ponder, and post a reaction - can't wait to see what you think!

Looks like it'll take a few read throughs to understand completely. But, I'll try and start thinking of a medieval name for guitar and we'll go from there :)

Just peeking in for a moment: don't think of bardic instruments alone: the world has a very rich variety of folk instruments, mainly consisting of percussion and woodwinds, which sometimes differ already if you travel to the next settlement. I hope you consider 'world music', which would be tribal/racial/provincial/regional/national varieties in Santharia, as well!
