Appearance:
Ranlesh have a long cylinder shaped body (about 1 ped in length). They have no eyes , legs or mouth. The move in a sidewinder fashion. Their height is approximately  0.3 peds.
One end is  tapered into a point and the other briefly broadens then narrows into a small squared off end (about 0.1ped wide) The shape of the Randlesh resembles  the shape of the original creature that was corrupted , which was snakes.

They are Jet Black in colour which always looks wet.

Special Abilities:

Attacking the Ranlesh with edged weapons only succeeds in splitting the animal in two. As the Ranlesh reproduce through asexual division, each piece then becomes a completely new creature, half the size of the original
Only attacks with blunt weapons or fire causes damage.
Can secrete a corrosive saliva through their skin.

Habits / Territory :

Found exclusively in swamps and marsh areas.E.g. Seanian swamps.
They move around by sending out a high frequency pulse from along the length of its body and senses the feedback as it bounces of objects in its path. These creature are asexual creature that split in two they become too long . they are also solitary creatures.

Diet:

The Ranlesh hunt by using its high frequency pulse to detect its prey. It then uses its lightening pace to catch its prey and coil itself around it. As the Ranlesh squeezes around the prey it secretes a saliva through its skin, which decomposes the  flesh of the victim and the Randlesh then absorbs the result.

Life span: 30 -50 years (human)

Other Info:
Dwarves know the creature as "moresh Avarim" which means Black Life

It is told in legends that these creatures were first made by an evil Mage in the SW I by corrupting common snakes in order to infiltrate enemy castles and kill from within but it went wrong and they escaped into the swamps of the Aneyous and proved to dangerous to catch as the Ranlesh attacked anyone that tried and too many casualties were needlessly inflicted.
It was rumoured but has never been substanuated just that they  started to appear shortly after this event. In 823 B.S at the War of Aneyous when the Cathania army crossed the river and attack a station of Enphernion forces slain the entire company.
The Name Ranlesh actually stands for something that the mage had intended for them

Looks generally fine, but who created them(?), what year(?), what swamp(?), and are they still in only that swamp, or have they spread(?), if so, what continent are they on(?). Also, is there anything specific they eat?
That's all for now.

Ok more detail.

The mage that created them was on the humans side but it is unknown exactly which one did it or if only one mage was reaponsable.

They have spread through time to other marshes and swamps throughout the Southern Continent. This was but by migration and by attaching themselves to other creature that were traveling without harming them.

They eat any flesh but only flesh not bone , vegetation etc

Year of creation : Still working on that.

This bit is creative but confusing.

"Attacks by sharp weapons on the Ranlesh only succeed in splittimg the animal in two ( causing no damage to the creature)"

How about rewriting like the following?

"Attacking the Ranlesh with edged weapons only succeeds in splitting the animal in two.  As the Ranlesh reproduce through asexual division, each piece then becomes a completely new creature, half the size of the original. "

Just a nitpick from the Bard.

Also...I'm always on the lookout for USES of animals, even dangerous ones.  Could these creatures' saliva be collected for use as a industrial acid - say for mining, or etching steel decoratively, etc.?  Or if the saliva decomposes after a short time away from the Ranlesh, could the animals be held with any kind of clamp/box/tube?  Which materials, besides mithril, are resistant to their saliva?  That information would be helpful to hunters or mages who are experimenting with the Ranlesh.

Thanks!

It would also be useful to assassins, waiting for your target to sleep then dropping a bit of acid on an important artery or vein.

wow these look like a nasty bunch to run into while your out and about. One thing I do have to say though....

Do they attack anything they sense while hunting, or are somethings like humans (2 peds or so) too big and will they avoid things like that?

The difference between a brave man and a coward....is facing your fear instead of running away

They attack anything that has meat on it

As for the venom hows this.

Name: Ranlesh Venom

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Known to the Dwarves as Morsek Khorim (Black Death)
This is the harvested slivers of the Ranlesh (see bestiary Thread) which is used to give weapons that little extra power.

APPEARANCE:
The appearance of the Venom is that of a sticky glossy black liquid.

STORING:
The storing of this liquid is extremely dangerous. It can only be successfully stored in earthenware viles as it would consume  any organic material if came incontact with.

HARVESTING:
This is an extremely dangerous process as these creatures are lightening fast and deadly. Several experienced Rangers have lost their lives trying to get the Venom. First you have to trick the beast into attaching themselves around and inorganic material (usually a metal spike) hoping that the creature doesn't decide to go for you
instead. The Spike has usually been incontact with magic to make it appear as living organic material. Then as the Ranlesh secretes its salver it runs down the spike into
an earthenware tray where it is collected. This was first successfully done in 100 B.S by a Dwarven Ranger by the name of Quiten Redblood of the Mitheral tribe (person still
to be described). He did this out of curiosity after observing the creatures for many years.

Uses:
As this venom destroys flesh but not metal assassins , Ranger and warriors coat thier weapons in it before battle
Also used in small doses to etch leather and other organic materials ( this gives a beautiful darkened effect and 3D) however if to much is used it distorys the item.

Alright, looks basically good. Could you run this stuff through a spell checker or something? It would save a lot of time when it's ready for update. A few things: Could you cite some specific swamps where they can be found? And maybe some alchemical uses for the venom, if that's possible (you're the judge there).

Oh, I have stuff to update, but I just didn't have it together yet. I am adding these into the update. As for the venom, it's not really my feild, unless it's just included in the beast post.
