Spell Effect. This
spell, requiring use of the spoken word, breaks the connection between the mind
and the body of an intelligent being temporarily, making it totally incapable of any controlled
movement. The non-concious movements such as heartbeat and breathing are not
affected; therefore the target does not die, but is only limited in his/her
action for a short period of time. If the mage isn’t skilled, or the target is
resistant to the spell, the effect may be partial, e.g. the target can become
unable to use its legs or hands. Usually only mages capable of casting level 7
spells can totally paralyze someone completely; lower-level mages will only
Casting Procedure. The mage must have the needed reagents near him, helping him to imagine tiny threads running from the target's head to the rest of the body, which will then be cut through in the caster's mind. This cut is represented in the Magical Formula the mage recites and the spoken words are essential to audibly emphasize this breaking of bonds between mind and body. If the imagination of the spell's effect is strong enough to affect the target's cár'áll the spell will succeed and the effect will apply immediately.
Magical Formula. Cuá’Lerán’Telí (Styrásh "Cuá’Lerán’Telí"), literally meaning "Break Mind Body!"
Target. Living intelligent beings. Undead, golems, trained dogs and creatures only following simple commands are unaffected.
Reagents. Snake teeth, representing the effect of paralyzing venom.
Magical School. Ecuá Magic.
Spell Class. Mentalism.
Range. For low-level mages contact with the target is necessary, however, advanced mages can cast this spell from a distance (3-6 peds from the caster). This spell is only capable if targeting only one being at a time.
Casting Time. 10-20 seconds.
Duration. Depends on the level of the caster. Usually about 30 seconds for level 4 mages, and up to 2 minutes for level 8 casters.
Counter Measures/Enhancing Measures. Magic resistance in general helps to be immune to the effects of the spell. Also eventual Xeuá spells that can reconnect the mind and body of the affected target will nullify this spell.
