Lieofin

This red-haired human woman has a strong will - and an urge to go back to the place where the demon appeared first Lieofin does not understand. She should have the desire to stay away, as far as possible. So many things happen in the last time that he doesn‘t understand, and that insight comes hard to him. for he is known as a man of wisdom and knowledge.

As Lady Artemos finally has an insight and stops to dismount for the night, he hear a voice calling - and it seems, Lady Artemos has found somebody she knows - probably not far form the place she wanted to go. Coincidence - or imperative?

"Capher! Where are you?"

Capher puts out his hand and gently covers Ta'las's sword arm. "I do not think that is necessary Ta'las.  I think this voice, and it sounds feminine, means no harm.  In fact it sounds like someone I used to know...but it has been such a long time and I am not entirely sure.  Let's let her come into the camp.  At least near the fire, so we can see who we are talking to."

Ta'las nodded, but his hand still wavered close to the pommel of his sword.

Capher yelled back, "I and my companion are armed. I am not sure who you are.  Come closer to the campfire, out of the darkness so we can see you."  Capher quickly found a stout piece of wood, hefted it and felt it was heavy and strong enough to be used as a weapon just in case.  He waited breathlessly for the voice to come out of the darkness.

Capher.

Terra slowly moves towards the camp where Capher voice had come from, and as she steps into the light of the camps fire she speaks.

"Capher, I understand your caution. A lot has happened since we parted, but I am glad to see you well, we can really use your help."

As she moved closer Terra's strength began to fail her, she stubles slightly as she came close enough to be seen clearly and stops, Coore at her side. Terra even standing still seem unsteady on her feet and only seems to become more so with the passage of time.

Capher watched as a red-haired woman leading a horse walked into the camp, then she spoke

Quote:
Capher, I understand your caution. A lot has happened since we parted, but I am glad to see you well, we can really use your help."

She knows me! She says we parted. Why did we part? And she says we can use his help. Help! What help can I give her? Capher thought.

Suddenly he noticed that she stumbled, but righted herself, on sheer will alone.  Capher could see that she needed rest.

Capher, throwing caution aside, ran to her side, and took her arm. "Here, lean on me and I will take you to the fire.  We have some food and drink."  Capher motioned to Ta'las to take her horse.

Ta'las ran and grabbed the reins of the horse and then let out a yell. "Capher she is not alone. I see another with her." His hand upon the pommel of his sword, ready to draw it.

Capher turned around and shouted, "Whoever you are come out of the darkness and let us see you. We mean no harm to you if you are friend.  But if you are foe, then you have made a wrong choice.  Go and leave, for my friends steel is very aharp and he knows how to use it very well."

Capher looked into the red-haired woman's eyes. "Do you know who is out there?  Is it friend or foe?" He asked gently, but with conviction in his voice.

Capher.

'Teri approached with only light hesitation, her hand on the pommel of her own blade. "As do I, but I feel it would be preferrable to us both were it not necessary."

Lieofin

Lieofin follows the two women, cautiously, but close enough to be of help, should any danger arise. He stays in the shade of the last trees, ready to use his magic if needed.

The man Lady Terra obviously knows, comes to her help when her exhausted forces leave her, even her horse doesn‘t protest, when this his companion takes the reigns, though it doesn‘t allow to be led away.

Though the man with the sword draws Lieofins interest as well - he rides such an animal like the injured woman lying in Aer‘Ylferian,  his attention is fully directed to this man, Lady Terra has called Capher.

Capher, an old name. A name for a mighty being, a being more of myth than a being of the present time, though, said to live for ever - or at least for ages.
But Capher was as well the name of the person who hired all these people to fight an arising evil , who vanished. And the burned woman had belonged to this group.

This old man doesn‘t look mighty, but something is around, a presence not encountered often. Lieofins Oh‘mod‘al is not as well developed as Kurrun‘s, but he feels, that there is more than just an old man.

Lieofin‘s hands are trembling. He remains under the trees, not hidden, but not easily visible either. Something is here not as it should be. Why was Lady Artemos driven to this place? He would observe - and act, if needed - and hopefully be successful as last time. But last time he had the help of all magic the quallian could offer, this time he is alone.

Capher heard another voice speak. It sounded like a female as well.  It stated that it too had steel, like Ta'las but preferred not to use it.  Sensible, Capher thought.  He motioned to Ta'las to back off and Ta'las took the reins of the horse and gently talked to the animal.  The animal responded and walked with him.

Capher then said a bit more gently, "You seem to be more in control than your friend here.  Come out into the light so that we can see you.  You already know my name, my companion's name is Ta'las and he is a Shendar warrior."

Capher paused as he still held onto the red-haired woman.  He took a quick glance at her face; she seemed so familiar, but Capher could feel such...pain...loneliness...her will was strong...but she fought demons...demons of her past.  How Capher knew or felt all of this he did not know, he just knew he did and he knew he could help her, but how?

The how always came back.  He knew he could do many things: such as shapeshift, but he would never tell anyone that.  They would probably kill him on the spot.  But he knew that he possessed power, but he did not know how to...channel it? Use it? Or even how he got it? It confused him.  But each time he found a bit of the puzzle.  The flute was one.  This woman seems to be another.  Soon Capher thought all of the pieces will fall in and he will finally find out who he was.  Of course there was always that voice that would come and go...suddenly.  Is that also part of the puzzle?  And this Talia, would she also be part of the puzzle?  And what about the rest? Ta'las, this woman who seemed to be traveling with the red-haired woman.  And then there was....

Suddenly Capher felt another presence, hiding amongst the shadow of the trees.  It seemed that whenever Capher was the calmest, his power or powers would manifest itself in ways even he did not understand.  But he knew there was someone else out there...and that someone also possessed...power?

Capher's eyes narrowed and he peered into the shadow of night trying to see if he could see the other one.  His own power led him right to the man...elf?  An elven man with power?  Capher was curious.  He waited and watched for the woman to come out of the shadows and wondered if this elf with power would also come out. Or was he a foe?

Capher.

With Caphers aid Terra is steadied for a time, though for a long moment she had not the strength to reply to Caphers quiry. Terra struggles to gather her remaining strength as Teri enters the light announcing her ability to defend herself as well and her will to not have it come to that. With as much strength as she can gather, Terra knows she has not enough strength to call out to Leiofin who still seem to be causiously holding his distance so she addresses Capher only with a note of her weak state evident in her tone.

"Capher, these are allies. Teri, a companion to Talia while she traveled apart from us, and Lieofin, who helped fight off a demon that attacked us.

I need to rest, my strengh is nearly spent, and I will soon loose any ablity to support myself."

Capher's eyes widened as he heard the red-haired woman speak so familiarily to him.  "Here let me gently lay you down upon this blanket, near the fire."

Capher looked around calmly, "Teri and Lieofin, if what this young woman says is true then please come and warm your selves.  We have food and drink, both for you and your mounts.  I must tend to her."  He said as he looked at the red-haired woman.  "And who are you?"  He asked as he took a flask of water and put it to the woman's lips.  "Here, drink." He said gently, holding her as he would a child.

Ta'las  When Ta'las heard Talia's name he whirled around. "Did you say Talia?  I am searching for one of my kind named Talia.  Do you know where she is?"  He asked excitedly to anyone who would answer him as he waited for these companions of this red-haired woman; Teri and Lieofin, to come into the camp.

Lieofin

Lieofin, normally knowing very well what to do at which time, normally being very calm and considerate, is agitated and concerned about this old man. He feels a presence, a magic power which exceeds all he has ever encountered and knows only from stories told by older and even more experienced members of his tribe. But this old man doesn‘t act like one would expect from somebody so mighty. In contrary, he seems to be an old chap who lost his memory, doesn‘t even know Lady Terra, who obviously is very familiar with him. He has to be the one who hired the group back then in this tavern place. Why doesn‘t he know her then? The world seems more unhinged than all are assuming with a demon appearing in the middle of the Quallian.

Now that his presence is known, he steps out of the shadows of the trees near the fire, still cautiously watching the man named Capher though.

When the Shendar is asking him if he knows the burned woman, he decides to give some information away, maybe he will get some in return.

“Greetings! I‘m Lieofin from the Quallian and I accompany these Ladies .

Turning to the Shendar he answers his question.

“Yes, indeed, there is a woman with this name and from your tribe currently in one of our towns. Do you know her? And why do you ask for her?“

He doesn‘t bother to answer Capher's question. It is up to Lady Terra to reveal who she is. That is a strange encounter, when one person seems to be very familiar with the other and this very person doesn‘t know her!

Capher gently eases Terra down on a blanket layed out by the fire. Terra feels comfort at seeing him again in his kind an gentle manner, since he had turned into a demon then dissapeared Terra had worried for him, and hoped his mind would become well again. When Capher asks who she is Terra comes to know that he had forgotten much, and ghosts of sympathy cross her tired features knowing all too well how a horrible experiance could steal away ones memory. When Capher presses a water flask to her lips in offer of a drink Terra takes a few gentle sips before shrugging it away so she could speak, then speaks softly trying to conserve what little strength she had left.

"You have forgotten, I understand. You once knew my name to be Terra Artemos."

Her voice is so soft and weak that it is only likely audible to Capher, then before she can say more she drifts off into a deep sleep, her energy spent and will alone not being able to keep her awake.

Aueniteri, oddly enough, feels somehow secure standing here. Granted, mistrust runs deep through this group, and troubles greater than themselves await outside, but each of them, she determines as she looks them over, from the Shendar, to the old man, Capher, to the red-haired woman, Terra, to even the elf Lieofin, is of a pure heart; sincere folk who would more willingly sacrifice themselves than see a stranger fall. A ancient tension, for just a moment, relaxes, and a pleasant smile overtakes her as her eyes get lightly misty. Although no tears fall, she feels her emotion is probably obvious.

To the Shendar, she relieves herself of her a piece of the burden, confiding aloud, and thus to them all, "I should introduce myself as Aueniteri. I met Talia, with a masked elf that called herself Shati at this very spot, some days ago. That night, we were attacked by the demon, and thanks due to the power of Talia's blade, we escaped alive. Riding hard, we reached the Quallian not long after, and there we together fought off some fool assassin, whom I feel was after us only for curiousity. Together, we faced the demon again, who possessed a Ylferrhim fire mage, and thanks to our friend Lieofin here, escaped alive. Talia, however, is badly burned; the demon seemed focused on her. Narrowly avoiding death yet, she is now safe in the hands of honest Ylferrhim healers, in Aer'Ylferim."

For a while now she is silent, wondering if she has spoken too much. Granted, this could be their doom, but something was... right about these people. No one else could have heard, or at least anyone that would have cared, and to keep secrets from them all would be counter-productive. The story Lieofin knew anyway, and these other two had no one else to answer to, or at least so it seemed.

Ta’las relaxes when Auniteri and Lieofin explain that Talia’s wounds are being tended to.  “I am glad to hear that Talia is safe.  And I expect that her Aj’nuvic is difficult to control, though it will help the healing process to have her bondmate nearby.”

“Auniteri, Lieofin – I must apologize for my earlier rudeness.  I was unsure who or what to expect we might encounter here in the darkness.”  He offers them a short bow and smiles, “it is good to meet you, friends of Talia Sturmwind.”

“As my companion has mentioned, I am Ta’las, son of An’thavin, of the Shen-Kha'si.”  He pauses, wondering how to present his story, and decides to get to the point.  “I am here because our priestess – my mother-sister to be exact - has shown me a vision of Talia burning, and told that I could find her in the city of Aer'Ylferian.  I was bid to find her, that my presence could be of some help to her during the healing and that I could be of help to her.”

The Shendar glances over at his travelling companion.  They called him Capher, Talas muses.  The name sounds foreign to him, but it suits the old man.  “It seems as though we will have a guide to bring us to Talia after all, my friend.  And I can now start calling you by your name.”  Then he smirks and adds, “unless you would like me to keep calling you ‘old man’.”

Capher leaned close as the red-haired woman spoke after taking a few drops of water.  She called herself Terra Artemos.  The name sounded familiar and as Capher whispered it upon his lips a vision shook him of Terra comming into view: They were in a desert inn, she was talking to him telling him her name and that she was a Sophronian Warrior.  There were others around them. A man who called himself, Koldar, knight of the moonlight, and one who called herself Talia, a Shendar Warrior with some healing background.  They were looking at a map of a city and talking about a green gem.

Then as suddenly as the vision appeared it vanished, especially when one of the traveling companions of Terra spoke.  She called herself Auniteri.  Capher listened closely to her story and as soon as she said something about a demon another vision shook him. He trembled violently as he saw people, sailors? being vanguished and torn apart by him.  Then he turned upon his friends; Terra, Koldar, Talia, and he cried out loud, "No I will not do it" and he jumped into the sea.  The vision vanished and Capher found himself sweating, trembling and with a wild eyed look upon his face.  Could he be the demon that attacked these around him now? And they do not know it?

Capher gently looked at Terra's face, that had now fallen into a deep repose.  He felt no animosity toward her. Then he remembered that Auniteri said the demon took over a fire mage and it seemed like his attack was focused upon Talia.  Is that who I am after? Talia?  To kill her?

He shook his head violently and was tore from his thoughts by Ta'las asking him if he should call him "Capher" or would he prefer "Old man" instead.  Capher wild eyed, cried out, "Leave.  I must leave. I may endanger you all.  I must think.  Too much happening!  To fast!"

And then he leaped liked an animal into the surrounding forest and disappeared.  Not long afterward, a wolf's howl could be heard.

Capher.

Lieofin

Capher, this old man, worries Lieofin. He has observed him closely in these last minutes, and he has noticed his sweating, his reaction to the names. And now this:

"Leave. I must leave. I may endanger you all. I must think. Too much happening! To fast!"

What is happening too fast? Why could this man be a danger for them? Lieofin is about to follow the old man into the forest - but then he hears a wolf howl - and he remembers, that Lady Artemos has told them, that this Capher is a shapeshifter. A shapeshifter - such a rare kind. What might be his true form - the wolf - possible not - the human? That is not sure either. Lieofin tries to think back what he has heard as a child about this rare „race“, but he can‘t recall anything. Time to get back to the Quallian and tell the elder about the news. But tonight they have to stay here. Lady Artemos is not able to travel.

Another night without sleep, but that is not a problem for somebody like Lieofin, who's raining as a high ranked magic user allows him to postpone his need for rest - for some time. So he offers to the group:

If you like to get some rest, I will stay up and look out for any unusual .. events. Don‘t fear anything, my magic is strong enough to protect you from most common evil. But stay here.

„Common evil“ - hopefully if an evil should show - it is common.
